I would absolutely love a deep dive into both your rarest trophies as well as one into your entire PlayStation trophy history containing all of the games you’ve played along the way! I really enjoy your love for games, especially platformers! Your energy when explaining your interest into games or your experience with them is unmatched on RU-vid in my opinion. Absolutely love all of your videos man and want to say congrats on the baby coming in the fall. Fatherhood is special and I will never forget playing between diaper changes and bottle making and just my infant daughter watching me play!

@@ryanplourde5559 I’m definitely planning to do more trophy videos, so I’m glad there’s such an interest in them! Thank you SO much for the very kind words though, I really do appreciate it and I’m glad my enthusiasm for games comes through in my videos. I have no doubt being a dad is going to be the greatest blessing and privilege. I cannot wait to share those gaming experiences with her eventually! Thanks again for watching and commenting! 😁

Great video! Yes, I would love to see more trophy videos! I always check trophy roadmaps to see if there are any missable trophies. If there aren’t, I just play the game. If there are, I look them up as long as I can avoid spoilers; otherwise, I don't bother. Good job on that Wolfenstein platinum! It's a series I absolutely loved but never went back to for cleanup. I used to avoid playing games without platinum trophies, but that’s rare now since I’ve moved past that habit. I only go for platinum trophies in games I really enjoy. If I start feeling burned out, I move on to a different game. I think that's the best approach. If I’m still having fun and want to continue, I go for the platinum. As of today, I have 63 platinum trophies. This video has motivated me more than ever to reach 100. Keep up the good work!

I'd definitely recommend considering going back and cleaning up the Wolfenstein New Order Platinum! You can replay certain chapters where you missed collectibles (it tells you on Chapter Select which ones you still need), and honestly, replaying on the hardest difficulty was pretty fun. It can be frustrating at times for sure, but once you push through it was worth it. I think only going for Platinum's for games you enjoy is a great perspective to have and that's kind of my mindset going forward as well, especially if I go back and clean up trophies for any games I already started. Otherwise, at least for me, it became so much of a chore and self-imposed obligation to get trophies for games I often wasn't even that fond of. I'm glad this video inspired you, Matt! Wishing you the best of luck on your trophy collecting journey, as long as it still remains a fun pursuit for you. Thanks for watching! 🙂

Congrats on 100 platinum trophies! Who doesn’t love a ‘dirty’ platinum?!? Your commitment is unmatched! There are a few games I want to play that I know have some easy trophies. The Wolf Among Us will be a replay on the console (originally played it on either the Vita or the 360…can’t remember). House Flipper 2 is the other one. So excited to play these and it’s a bonus that the platinums are relatively easy to snag. Here’s to the next 100 platinum trophies!!

The Wolf Among Us is a great one! Now that you mention it...I need to go back and clean up that Platinum. I must have missed a couple collectibles, but it's such a good game. Hopefully we get news about the second one soon! I'm glad you can relate about snagging a dirty Platinum every now and again, I'm not alone! 😂 Thanks so much for watching, Steph!

I loved this journey, Rusty! I am always gonna be a bit slower because I tend to curate the trophies I go for, but I do love the hunt! Really adds to the experience on some games. Those Kingdom Hearts trophies don't grind out themselves after all! But most of all, i love how the trophies can kind of tell a bit of a story. You told stories for 1.5 hours today! That says a lot about how great they can be as a collectible. Something I think Nintendo could learn from...if they ever want to. Cheers, friend! ❤

That's what made recording this video so enjoyable for me because just about every Platinum I earned, or game I play, has a story associated with it (maybe with the exception of the dirty Plats lol). I think it would be such a game changer if Nintendo added some type of Trophy/Achievement system for their next console. It shouldn't be the reason I start chipping away at my Switch backlog, but it would be a major incentive. I feel like I could do an entire video detailing what I would like to see from Nintendo Trophies/Achievements...maybe some day! Thanks so much for watching, Crono!

Yes, such an incredible video! Thank you so much for taking the journey into the full list like this. 100% we will be having a nice long form chat about the origins, emotions, and strategies of our rivalry. Can't wait! Here are a bunch of my thoughts as I go through the video: You asked if folks look up trophies ahead of actually playing a game. I won't lie in saying that during the height of our competition I did, but these days I'm very much a "game first, trophy second" person as I think we all should be. I'll take the time to quickly glance at a spoiler free trophy guide before I play something to see if there is an easy missable I should pay attention to, but I won't follow a guide on a first playthrough and I won't let the game selection be dictated by whether or not the platinum is reasonable. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is a perfect example of a game that I played knowing full well I won't be getting the platinum (at least not for many, many years). An interesting observation is that a lot of the "dirty" games in your list were actually before our competition started. You still stuck to games that were very platinum-able during the battle, but there are more normal types of games showing up there, at least for the bulk of it! I think the last 15 trophies, and the 4 you've gotten since, are a perfect representation of how trophy hunting should be moving forward. Get the platinums in games you love, care about, or really want to squeeze some more juice out of... but don't make it all about the trophies. Let the games shine and the platinums serve as a way to show how much you enjoyed a game (for the most part). Side note: can't believe you cheated Gleylancer! Dirty strategy buddy. In closing though, great and insightful video! I would love to see more in the future focused around your trophy collection. Maybe your top rarest platinums or proudest platinums like you mentioned? Maybe the games you hope to platinum in the future? Or maybe you cleaning up some unfinished games on your list for the fun of it? All or any of those would be so much fun to watch. Great video my friend 😀

This is a top tier comment! I think a lot of the earlier dirty Platinum's before our competition started (and I didn't do a great job explicitly calling this out in the video) was me kind of having a moment a lot of others had during the early 360 Achievement days. Having Platinums for those games doesn't bother me, but I do think getting those easier Plats was the beginning of the shift in my mindset for what games I was selecting to play, even before our rivalry started. In a better place with that mindset now though 😅 And YES! Definitely going to continue with the mindset I've had post-My Name is Mayo 2. It's the way to go for sure. Rarest and Proudest Platinums I think would be really fun videos to do, so I've added those to my idea list! Thanks for watching and being such a great supporter of the channel, Blink, you're a real one!!

Really enjoyed this video Rusty! 100 platinums is an amazing achievement and it's so special that you made Kingdom Hearts your 100th too! I am even more impressed with you taking a step back from trophy hunting after achieving your 100th as your competion with Blink was pretty intense 😅 On a personal note I have let trophy/achievement collecting get in the way of enjoying a lot of games and that is a big regret of mine. I still look up lists to see if the platinums are achievable but I try to focus more on beating the games first now. A big turn off for me is when there are difficulty trophies. Even more so if they don't stack as I dont like being "forced" to replay a game multiple times. My favourite platinums to get are collectathons which some say are too easy but I just love those kinds of games! The only platinum I plan on getting this year is the one for Kingdom Hearts as I just need to beat the game on proud to get those last too difficulty trophies 🤞 Wish me luck!

Thanks so much for this comment! I knew if I was going to get to 100 Platinum's the 100th had to be special...even if going for Kingdom Hearts meant the gap in Platinum count between Blink and I would get further and further lol I appreciate your transparency in how trophy/achievement collecting has affected how you play games and which games you play. I know for me it really disrupted my enjoyment of the hobby, and in a way I really didn't like so I had to walk away from it for a year. The break certainly helped, and very much like you I think, I have a much healthier perspective with the Platinum's I'm seeking. Definitely much more selective. Like you, I LOVE me a good collectathon platformer, especially when the trophy list only really asks you to beat the game and collect everything 😁 Best of luck with the Kingdom Hearts Platinum, I know you can do it! The final boss rush can be a bit rough on Proud, but just get Sora to around level 70, load up on Potions/Elixir's and you should be good to go. Thanks again for watching!

I can really relate to this video as my journey was very much the same. Sadly sometimes I still prioritise trophies!

After getting the Spider-Man 2 Platinum as my 101st, I'm back to prioritizing trophies as well! I don't think it's an inherently bad thing. Often times trophies are the reason I grow fonder for a game/series because the trophies help me to discover or see aspects of the games I hadn't before. That takes many different forms depending on the genre, but I think trophies/achievements can really add a lot of value to gaming experiences. For me during a particular time in my life, though, my reason for collecting them wasn't healthy and it became a chore, so I'm glad I took a year break. I'm really glad you could relate to my journey trophy collecting, and maybe it inspired you in a good way going forward as well. Thanks so much for watching, Tony, it's always appreciated!!

Hey man :) good list dude! Not so much the dirty platinums but we have a lot of platinums in common! I'm a big fan of Ratchet and Clank and Jak and Daxter, I have basically all the Telltale games you have too :)

I noticed that during your video as well! I'd like to go back and play more of the Ratchet and Clank games on PS3 and eventually get the Platinums as well. I still need to clean up the Jak 3 Platinum too. Thanks for watching, it's much appreciated!

Hey, great list, man. Super impressive! I'm kind of in the same boat you mentioned you were in early in the video where what games I play are primarily or, at the very least, secondarily based on the trophy list. I still play games I want to really play, but I do find myself pushing off longer, grindier games like RDR2 simply because of what the platinum requires... A positive impact that trophy hunting has had on my choice of games to play is that it has introduced me to some amazing shorter games to plat like What Remains of Edith Finch, Stray, and the Spyro trilogy. I'm also struggling with prioritizing completing unfinished games on my playstation games list (dating back 12 years) vs. playing newer games that I really want to play. I feel like my platinum trophy hunting habit is slowly evolving into increasing my overall game game and trophy completion percentage.. Anyways, I'm overall happy with hunting for trophies, but I do need to let go a little and just play the games I really want to play, like you mentioned. Thanks again for the great vid!

I think finding that healthy balance for each individual person is key. I know my trophy hunting looks quite a bit different from others nowadays and my "all in" on trophies days are behind me, but I still enjoy a good trophy hunt/grind every once in a while. It's a HUGE positive impact if it means you ended up playing great games like Stray and Spyro (some of my personal favorites)! That's one of the many special things about this hobby. Whether you're doing a deep dive on a particular genre, trophy hunting, or exploring more of a console library than you have before, you're still discovering a greater joy for games over time. That's still a win in my book! Best of luck on all of your future trophy collecting endeavors, I really appreciate you tuning into the video and sharing your perspective!

I was already a completionist when I got my PS3 so trophy hunting comes pretty naturally to me. That said, I am not a slave to trophies/platinums. Usually, I just pick a game I want to play off the shelf even if there aren't any trophies, or there are trophies but no plat. I will still load up games with impossible plats and delisted DLC trophies. The difficulty or the grind won't turn me off trying a plat I want to have. Usually, I'll try to play on the hardest difficulty even if there is no trophy for it. Online trophies are a bitch but I'm not opposed to boosting as shown by my Assassin's Creed plats. That said, I will always pull up the roadmap before starting a game though because I cannot imagine needing to play Mass Effect 1 a fourth time just because I would have naturally screwed up the Ally trophies (PS3 version requires three high% playthroughs). An interesting detail I noticed recently is that, due to a combination of series order completionism and a love for retro gaming, a lot of my plats are for PS2 games that were rereleased for PS3 or things like CoD Classic and Far Cry Classic (PSN store PC ports) Finally, while I don't have any $0.99 shovelware plats to fill out my roster, I do have at least one poor quality easy licensed game plat. I am proud to say that, partly due to my enjoyment of bad games, I thoroughly enjoyed every game in which I have the plat (even Terminator Salvation: the game where I played the whole game without being able to use grenades, even encounters that were designed around the use of grenades.)
