This is something that has been on my mind for a very long time and I think it's time to address it. I can't afford to play paintball at the moment. It has been hard to make a few of my pursuits possible while actively playing paintball. I don't think this is a forever thing, and I'm certainly not calling it quits, but I can't let myself go broke because I chose to spend thousands of dollars a year playing paintball. I hope some of the lessons I've learned can be useful when it comes to addressing the "grow the sport" issue. If you liked this video, please swaffel the like button. Cheers!

This is exactly why my PE Magfed group won't tolerate toxic behavior. It does nothing but create a cliche group of people that become silo'd thinkers and abusers otherwise. Good luck on overcoming whatever financial stuff you have and thankyou for the great content you have provided before. I watched some of your videos a few times because they were so funny.

Thankfully I don't have financial issues as much as I have ambitions that require me to manage my time and money well. Producing paintball content isn't expensive because of what it costs (even though it is a little pricey) but rather how much time I'm spending creating said content and not making money. I hope that makes sense!

@@JustCantGetRight yes, perfectly! I have plenty of things I would like to do but can't afford yet lol. (Like build a hill climb car). Or, more like choosing to put my money into other hobbies and my family.

sad to hear your future in paintball might end. we love you regardless what you focus on. money is irrelevant, if able buy as much time as you can. Invest your time where YOU get most value for it.

It makes me sad too. I first played this sport when I was 11 years old and I've treasured it so dearly. I felt like I had to make this video because I want to keep creating content and I know that people expecting it to be paintball related can't be left hanging.

Miguel, Whether I’m interested in the subject or not, I’ll watch you to support quality content you’re engaged in providing. Re: growing the sport, you’ve pretty much nailed it. The few times I get to the field I actively try and make sure everyone else has a good time. Loaning gear, paint, giving playing tips, talking with refs if something brewing. I don’t have less fun, but it’s a different experience when it’s not ALL about competing. I always go back to a quote I picked up from a signature on PbN. “A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they’ll never sit under.” So applicable to so many things and the next iteration of the real golden rule of “don’t be a dick”. Looking forward to what you cook up next buddy.

As someone who also makes paintball content I completely understand where you’re coming from. Paintball Product reviewers like us don’t make any money on YT. It’s literally a money pit. Unfortunately, one day reviewers like us, who are unbiased and provide legitimate feedback about products will be gone and all that will be left are companies reviewing products they are trying to sell. I hope you continue to make content about whatever you’re passionate about, because that’s when it remains enjoyable. I’ve been a subscriber for a while and will continue to be one. Thanks for the years of quality content bro 🤙🏼.

I hope so too. There's so many friends I've made and things I've learned through 15 years of paintball that still mean the world to me. If the day comes where I'm able to get back on the paintball saddle, you'll find me here!

price is the number 1 reason people leave, nothing about the competitive format is a reasonable way to spend your income for the vast majority of people in the age range to play

One thing is large paintball corporations arent putting anything into advertisements anymore and some are killing the aftermarket or bling upgrades

This is one of the better takes I've seen recently on the issues in the sport. Diversifying the content you produce is a good idea but definitely dont stop making vids on paintball.

Somehow I missed this three months ago and am watching it now. It just so happens to be at a time when I'm also falling out of the sport due to a nice combo of injury I've been battling for half a year, and finances. My team is great but I agree that maybe if the overall community at large was more inviting to new players AND existing ones I might be more compelled to stay (as a back player who shouldn't be diving anymore at least) Move on to content you enjoy producing even if it means losing subs at first. Nothing is worse than seeing a content creator continue to do something they shouldn't or can't to appease old fans or keep up numbers. With the way you make content, it won't be hard to break into new territory.

Very well said. There shouldn't need to be rof caps or minimum engagement distance for rec play. There shouldn't need to be rules to tell you not to be an ahole and overshoot people.

as som eone who is young, dumb, and broke, i understand how difficult it is to play this sport that i love. i find myself having to spend half my paycheck on things such as paint, registration fees for events, and ID fees for events as well as hotel rooms and everything that comes when traveling. its unfortunate that paintball is so expensive, and i wish i had more money to help afford it. but thats the way she goes. had to pick up a second job to help keep funds up and keep money rolling through my account. however, at the end of the day, i find its all worth it because i get to do and play something i love and that i am passionate about, no matter the physical or mental cost.

Me and all my friends stopped playing back in 2019 and when the “pandemic “ hit we stopped and haven’t gone back since. We went from going almost every Saturday to not going at all 😢

I hear that dude. I took a couple months off to find a corporate job. Got out of my 1/1 and in to a 2/2 with a home office. If you love it, you'll find a way back home.

I have only ever (tried to) "quit" because it is expensive. But that never lasted very long, so I decide to stop trying to quit and budget for it. I will be playing until I die.

Not really "quitting" I'm not selling any of my stuff. I'm not going to never play paintball again, as a matter of fact, I plan on playing every couple of months. I just can't keep up with content creation for paintball. It's an extra hobby stacked on top of paintball as a hobby, and after trying to commit to a single upload a month and failing it just isn't working out : /

I feel like they killed paintball with the 10bps cap. With common courtesy in mind (overshooting/lightning someone up) I feel like they gutted a major thrill out of the sport. No, I don’t want to shoot 20+bps with beginners and rentals on the field. YES i want to shoot semi-uncapped with my friends and veterans in rec-ball. What’s the point in me building a gun, buying fancy gear, and going out on training wheels? Especially if I’m seasoned? There’s no point. That’s why people leave. It’s BORING. 10bps is garbage. Let the veteran players and pro players shoot semi-uncapped. Or at least 15-20bps. I know rate of fire is just one thing. But man, wouldn’t it feel good to have fun and bring out the full potential of your fancy little gun? 😤

Bro I think you really should consider some therapy. There’s obviously a lot going on with you that doesn’t have anything to do with paintball. Good content is good content. Making excuses about it being expensive or not having the right equipment or time is exactly that excuses. No one is saying you have to make paintball stuff. But understand that is what your channel was that brought those subscribers. If you want to change it you absolutely can just don’t be shocked when the people that came here for one particular type of content leave.

I appreciate your comment man, but I hope you don't mind me asking, excuses for whom? I set out a goal to produce a video a month a little over a year ago and it proved unsustainable because of how much time I had spent creating content and not making money. Yes, the channel is monetized, but 20-30 dollars a month doesn't even get me a case of paint. Is that an excuse for myself? I was still in Highschool when I started this channel, making a living didn't matter as much. A lot has changed and I need to build a solid foundation to stand on. I think it's fair for people to leave if they're not interested in the content I'm producing, I don't expect people who subscribed for paintball to watch my knife videos but I'll admit that I did expect there to be a little bit of crossover with the VR stuff turns out it was the other way around. Anyway, thanks for being here, you are appreciated my dude (even if you don't like me).

@@JustCantGetRight hey man. I wasn’t going to reply because a long discourse here is irrelevant BUT I don’t want you to feel that people or more specifically I don’t like you. I don’t know you. I’m sure your a cool dude. All I’m saying is some one long ago told me you make time and find a way for what’s important to you. It’s fine if paintball isn’t one of those things anymore. Just say you don’t really care about making that type of content. Saying it’s expensive or whatever … it doesn’t have to be. Shooting videos could be pricey I guess if you are having to constantly buy paint but there’s also a way where you create opinion based paintball whether it’s reactions to product drops or moves within the industry that don’t need to cost very much or have a high production value. Your fans came to watch you talk about a thing they also liked. The other stuff is just fluff. “By other stuff I mean fancy edits and cuts” some of you breakdowns were really solid stiff and that’s why I became a subscriber anyways man I hope you find your joy.
