Work wasn't easy to come by when I first got to Brazil. I tried a few different things, some worked and others.. not so much. Now I am teaching English online full-time, doing some voice over work, and creating content for two RU-vid channels. It's a lot different then I had envisioned, but being able to work from home and spend time with my wife and daughter everyday is priceless.
The platform where I started teaching English online is called Cambly. If you sign up using my code I get a referral fee ;) www.cambly.com/invite/G7ZN6V4...
For the fastest and easiest way to send money internationally, I use WISE. First transfer up to $600 is free w/ code: wise.com/invite/u/tuckerf13
The book I wrote is available on Amazon: amzn.to/3MudouP

Great content. It's fascinating how life can seemingly guide us along paths we never anticipated. Whether that's unexpected relationship or geographical move, I never imagined I would be moving to the US to purse a career in E commerce in PNW or falling in love with a Brazilian. Life's unpredictable guided me down the road and it turned okay 👌

Thanks man! I know what you mean. I had no intention of moving to Brazil until about a month before I got my ticket. Life is a one crazy-fun ride

Florianopolis is one of many hidden gems in Brasil. Thank you so much for your videos, looking forward to more of your content! PS. Perhaps you might want to consider doing 4K Walk thru videos (2-3hrs long) of the different neighborhoods in Florianopolis. I can't find many of these videos for Florianopolis, I think these could become very popular! 🙏🇧🇷

Thanks for sharing. My story is a bit similar to yours, however, I was born in Brazil but grew up in the states. If you are thinking of going into private lessons, Verbling and Preply are a pretty good start. You can set your own price and they charge a percentage of what you are making. I worked with Cambly and Preply for years. There are other options as well if you need guidance. Best of luck!

Thanks I appreciate that. I hadn't heard of Preply but I actually started teaching private lessons which is great. I am going to start teaching a lot less because I will focus on my youtube channels and a podcast my wife and I just started

Oi, I just subscribed to your channel, I watched the Acia tree climbing, that was fun to watch, reminded me climbing coconut trees in Hawaii to get those sweet coconuts. You make great content, just keep consistent posting videos and you'll get better views, also your wife should start a channel of something she really likes to do, I've seen successful channels there in SC Brazil from cooking, to traveling to home improvements. There's a Sweden digital nomad there in Florianopolis, he also does youtube and he mines crypto currency, but don't know if it's a good side income. You mentioned you flipped homes in Seattle WA, did you ever consider not flipping one and renting it out and using the rent to have income there in BR? Just take us along with you from grocery store costs to restaurants and having your baby is a plus because people like to see cute babies etc. You guys are a great couple, keep uploading videos and I'll keep watching them. Deus abençoe vocês

Thank you, I really appreciate that. I have a lot that I still need to upload but I am working full-time and moved back to the US so I haven't had much time yet. My wife is actually working on starting a channel about her experience here in the US now.

Tucker, our stories almost parallel one another. I’m an expat from Pennsylvania and married my wife here in Cianorte, Parana. I’ve followed your story before I arrived here on a permanent basis in June 2022. Anyhow, I’m just curious how you tutor English online as I’m attempting a career change and I’ve been looking to do something like this myself. Whenever you have a moment please advise. Blessings on you and your family!

I started tutoring on a platform called cambly. It was pretty easy to get started, just an introduction video and fill out some info about yourself and they approve you within a few days. It doesn't pay that well but I had consistent students 6 days a week and it allowed me to stay at home and see my wife and daughter all day so it was worth it to me.

I have been to Vancouver Seattle Tacoma Los Angeles on west coast. If possible could you please let us know the cost of studio apartments I am interested in buying one for myself. I am day trader and growing in day trading. In a digitally connected world now we can be anywhere in the world. Digital nomad is fantastic. I would like to buy a small studio apartment in multi-storey towers If you could give a rough idea in dollars terms I am interested in buying in the close proximity of shopping mall, coffee shops, Pubs and other entertainment venues, as well as hospital.

Great video Tucker! 👍How do I get a SIM card in Florianópolis? Do I need a CPF?(because I don't have one)

We went to CLARO in Centro and got our SIM cards there. I am not positive but we had to have my cpf when we got our Floripa numbers.

Working remote in Florianopolis, have you had any issues with internet connection/speeds while in a tutoring session?
@americaninbrasil
@americaninbrasil 4 месяца назад
Only a handful of times in the 15 months that I was teaching. The internet did go out about once a week in our particular area (Ingleses Norte) but it usually came back on within 30 minutes and sometimes quicker than that.

Bom dia! Just a question for you about the visa. Are you on the visa for digital nomads, tourist vise, are you able to get the visa based on marriage? My wife is also a Brazilian that teaches English and we live in Florida at the moment and plan on coming back to Floripa where we met. I am wondering if the retirement visa would be faster. I only have the tourist visa at the moment.
@americaninbrasil
@americaninbrasil Год назад
I actually have residency. I got it right after we got married and right on the expiration of my 90 days from arriving here in Brazil. I am not sure about the retirement visa, but I was able to get my residency solely because I was married to a Brazilian. It was pretty inexpensive and short (the process took less than 6 weeks). It lasts 9 years as well.
@charlesbeachboard6832
@charlesbeachboard6832 Год назад
@@americaninbrasil Are you also married in the US? My wife came here on the K1 visa and we had 90 days to get married 17 years ago. She has no desire to get the American citizenship and we are excited to get back to Floripa. Way too expensive here in the US. So you have what is equivalent to a US green card? We have to explore tax implications of getting the retirement visa or get married in Brazil and do the residency that way.
@americaninbrasil
@americaninbrasil Год назад
@@charlesbeachboard6832 We got married here in Brazil actually. I don't think it is the equivalent of a green card because it expire and from I understand a green card is good forever but I can renew it or apply for citizenship in the future if I want

Question, in your opinion is it possible to live in Floripa on r$13,000 per month?
@americaninbrasil
@americaninbrasil Год назад
Yes. I do so with less and a 4 person household. But it also depends on the area you plan on living. I live in Ingleses in the northern part of the island. Do you have a neighborhood in mind that you were looking at?
