Oh wow, I'm getting paid 8times more working 35h/week as student doing a sandwich course (2weeks school/2weeks factory) And you worked 12h a day, that's mental ! You must be very strong to work this much in these conditions
This type of video is such a great learning resource, it's very helpful to see how the sentences are structured while listening to an interesting story, would be wonderful if you could make more like this!
I agree, although I still get very limited practice in using the language. Except for a few hours on a Saturday afternoon when I go to classes. I need too find a way of practicing the spoken language more, and gaining more confidence.
Don't forget to check out her channel. She's got several videos like this! I love it too. The ones in this format are labeled as having "Literal Translations".

*TOO FAST?* Control the video's playback speed by speeding up or slowing down the video 5% at a time on desktop computers and laptops OR 25% at a time on smartphone! Access the playback speed controls as follows: *Desktop Computers and Laptops:* open the video, then go to the lower right of the video's screen and click on the settings icon (it looks like a GEAR). On the upper right of the options window that comes up, you will see the link "custom". Click on the "custom" link to control the video's playback speed by speeding up or slowing down the video 5% at a time. *Smartphones:* open the video and go to the upper right of the video's screen. You will see 3 dots. Click on them and you will see the link to open the "playback speed" controls. Click on this link and you will be able to control the video's playback speed by speeding up or slowing down the video 25% at a time. Note that viewing the video on desktop computer/laptops gives you greater control over the playback speed (5% vs 25% on smartphones).
This kind of video is extremely useful. Thank you very much for sharing your story with us and for all your work, your videos are among the best I have seen.
The format of this video is very well done. I really like the layout! And wow, it's fascinating to hear about your experiences! My first year living in a dormitory was very similar. We had a lot of people sharing rooms. Our rooms didn't have bathrooms in them either, and we had to use a public bathroom/shower. There was no privacy! I had a similar strategy to yours - going in very early, or very late. Eventually, my roommates and I made our own shower curtain rods for our shower stalls. But this created a new problem.. everyone wanted to use our showers!! There were two public bathrooms on our building's floor, but everyone wanted the privacy of our showers and it created traffic jams in the mornings. I think some of the students' parents intervened at some point, and we were all given new shower stalls before the end of the semester 😆.
The story was so interesting...the pronunciation was clear...then vocabulary was useful and everyday used...the format was unbelievable, that I can listen, can read, and translate at the same time...I will show and share this with my classmates, for sure! It was a dream, thank you,Eileen!❤ I accidentally found your channel, but to tell you the truth, I love the content you made so I will subscribe and follow you 😊
THAAAAANK YOU, one for your wonderful story (which has a lot of cultural nuances to foreign viewers), and two for putting the LITERAL English translations. I want to get better at Chinese but the structure and order of sentences kills me, so when I see the English translated literally it helps me internally practice and speak English differently so that way the translation to chinese isn't as hard.
Большое спасибо из России за ваши уроки. This new format is very cool - detailed visual glossary, slow pace, intermediary vocabulary, interesting details about life in China. Thanks from Moscow
I would love if you could do literate translations to more of your videos. This makes me noticed all gramma points and vocabulary that I would miss if I just listened with subtitles.
I wonder if factory workers still have to work 12 hour shifts, or if it's an optional practice now. In Europe, you have a max 48 hour working week. Although you can have an opt out clause that will allow you to do more hours as overtime.
This kind of literal translation is something I have been thinking is missing from all language tools for as long as I can remember. A literal word by word translation so you can understand how sentences are created.
Incredible story, glad you made it through :). Also, it’s a bit funny that teachers gave you bad grades in English back in high school; And now you literally teach Chinese to English speakers. Guess, you are having the last laugh now.
Thank you for making these types of videos! Also your website is such an amazing value. I hope to see more street interviews with random people or maybe premium street video content for patreon members. Thank you once again
Oh what the hell, poor girl, you worked so much for basically 10 cents a day... even countries at war with awful inflation are not as bad. I am lebanese and know coubtries in the region where people suffer from poverty a lot. But your story is so so so sad, thanks God you survived and are now able to produce youtube videos
Спасибо Дорогая за свой рассказ! 🤗 Ты очень хороший Преподаватель. 🤩 Я рад,что подписан на твой канал...твоё умение донести до Учеников материал (объяснить)...Завораживает. 😽😽😽
