My life as a writer with C-PTSD || an inside look at creativity and trauma

Hi everyone. :) I'm back. And I want to talk about something personal, but so, so important: mental health.
Recently, I made the difficult decision to leave RU-vid for a while to take care of myself and my mental health, and to brainstorm (and start implementing) some exciting channel changes. And during this time away from my channel, I realized how important it is to me to raise awareness for "taboo" topics--specifically like trauma and mental illness. Not only do I believe that it's important to live vulnerably, out in the open (kicking that trauma shame, anyone?), but I also wanted to let those who do relate know that they're not alone. And for those who don't relate, this video is for you, too, because it's a real, inside look at what my life is like as a creator with PTSD--and it's very possible that you know someone who relates.
So I hope you enjoy this honest look at my life, and I hope it helps you understand why things that seem easy--like making videos on a consistent schedule--can be more difficult for me and for those who experience difficulties similar to mine. Thank you all for your patience with me as I take care of myself. As the airlines say so very eloquently: put your own mask on first. I encourage you all to take care of yourself in whatever way you need (including taking a long break from stressful things--no matter how rewarding they are or how much you want to resist the rest).
More storytelling content to come next week. Until then, happy trails!

I've watched this a few times when I'm struggling and it helps me centre and feel seen. Thanks, Natalie

You and your channel are a delight. Congrats on publishing your book! I am truly sorry your CPTSD has been such an ongoing trial. My own appears to manifest in making sure I don't finish anything. I write all the time; like you I have put in the hours. But this condition is relentless. Watching good quality writing videos helps me break through. I do hope you are getting closer to publishing Acts 2-4, although I have no wish to rush you. Your pretty face and voice are soothing and reassuring, but also, the 4-act structure makes so much more sense to me than 3-act! Yet it's seldom if ever mentioned anywhere. I have learned some basics on the story circle from Rachael Stephen's videos, and I am excited to see more from you on that subject as well. It's complicated! There's a lot to discuss. Anyway, please know that the work you do here is reaching people and it's helping! The production quality you are capable of is incredible. Thank you so much for all you do! 🖤

I just want to say thank you lol. I have been wrestling with the same issue for a very long time now and its been killing me. I actually Googled "creative writing and cptsd." It was a total shot in the dark but your video came up. Thank you for covering this oddly specific issue and sharing your experience. Just hearing someone else say it is extremely reassuring. You're perseverance through that is truly incredible. I'm not kidding I was about to fold but this is very inspiring and encouraging. You're awesome.

I’m so glad this video was able to help you. It’s such a hard spot to be in when trauma hurts our creative lives, and I felt the same way while I was going through it-like it would never end. I promise you it will. Keep going, keep trying, & feel free to schedule a coaching session with me if you ever want one on one help about all of it! Thanks for being here.

"Every book has a piece of my healing in it". - Love this. Thank you for sharing and being open with your experience and process. Imposter syndrome is all the feels with having a channel. I think your channel is great, and I am so grateful for your message about writing/creating being healing and powerful and getting through difficult emotions.
