Along with celebrating and preserving Appalachian heritage and culture I'm always hoping to shine a light on the good life that I live in the Appalachian Mountains of Western North Carolina. I hope you enjoy this peek into my life.
Song: There is a Time written by The Dillards. Performed by Corie, Katie, Tipper, and Paul.

This is one of the best videos of all time! Is there anything cozier than seeing that woodsmoke rolling out of the chimney, knowing there are folks inside cooking, eating, singing, and sharing together? Thank you so much for this. (Wish I could get my hands on one of those gorgeous hand pies! 😁) I absolutely loved the song you gave us - evocative harmonies...

You can make pot pies the same way: 1can of mixed veggies with it's liquid; add one can of condensed mushroom soup ( no water)add precooked chicken, bite size, mix well then scoop onto crust like you did with fruit. Bake until light brown, and don't forget to put a vent hole on top. MMMM good.😋

Tipper, this was spectacular. The old photos tied everything together. The picture of you on the horse might as well have been one of your girls. I am not an engineer, but maybe you guys could terrace that hill one row a year, going up. Have 5 or 6 layers of terraces for planting, then build steps accordingly. Easy for me to tell you how to spend your money and hard work! This was one of your best videos since I have been watching.

How exciting to terrace the hillside & gain some more planting space. I work on the same- my place is on a hillside as well & every inch of planting space is precious. So far, I dig by hand and shovel - a little further each year. Oh, how I’d like to hire that out to a skid-steer or backhoe; till then, I’ll just keep picking away. What wonderful rich soil you have. That hillside has such fertile layers. I’m looking forward to seeing what you plant! Thanks to y’all for taking us along with you throughout your day.

When I was a kid, the hillside behind our house was like yours. There was a flat clearing at the top and my parents built a pen and a small building to house animals when we had them. We kept a pony for a friend for a bit and in the pen normally would be 2 hogs from time to time. I hated walking that hillside to feed those hogs. The only vehicle that could get up it was my step-dad's 4 wheel drive truck and even then it was a low slow crawl. Although when we had snow, a trash bag was all we needed to slide down that hillside. LOL The song reminded me of a song the bluegrass band (that would make an appearance from time to time on the Andy Griffith Show) played. Loved watching and listening! Thank you
