I have a 1990 xlt 2.3 4cy owned it 1year now i was having some starting issues so i had the engine rebuild need a wire harness because mine is damage. the body in great condition so not much work left to be done
Mine is a gutless 2.0 😫 I wanted the lowest trim level because I like the no head liner and the older style rims with dog dish hubcaps. But it’s prohibitively slow. And the previous owner deleted everything that can be deleted even the break booster but he didn’t put the fulcrum in so it’s pretty scary to drive the way it is. Luckily parts are cheap. Good job on your truck I like seeing these OBS trucks on the road.
early Rangers best trucks ever ! i own a 2004 with 215,642 miles , Also a 1993 Ranger 3 inch body lift , MICKEY THOMSON , off road tires , all led lights , All Blacked out windows and painted matt black
How do you like the 3 inch lift? I have an 89 ranger XLT and it already sits pretty high, I’m about to buy a 4 inch lift but I’m debating on wether or not 4 is too high.
Every normie is going nuts for the new Ford Maverick, but meanwhile, I’m going crazy for a truck that filled the same niche as it 35 years ago. Best part: it’s a real truck. Body on frame, 4x4 rather than AWD, an optional manual gearbox, a V6 as an option rather than a hybrid (AKA pickup truck sacrilege), and simplicity. Why can’t we have the simpler things in life now?
I know, it kinda sucks for me being 15. I know if i live a long life a day will come when i am driving one of these new pickups. Everyone sais hybrids are the future and yes they get good mileage and make more power for the displacement but they are so unreliable. Not to mention how hard they are to work on. When i pop the hood on my 2000 ranger i know exactly what i am looking at. It isn’t like this on new trucks. My 2000 ranger xlt has enough safety features and bells and whistles to make anyone with reasonable standards comfortable. Unfortunately the government wants to continue mandating that the auto makers get better and better mileage, better and better safety, better and better emissions. In reality alot of new trucks have reasonable base models, its all the shit that the government requires they do that jacks up the price and overcomplicates the internals.
Wooh I've got an 85 and an 88 yours is tops a Big Thanks Pro Cal.im thinkin' B F Goodrich Terrain T/A KO2 Radials (LT235 /75R15 tires I like your style .ok with gratitude thanks my phone could break or drop in water .10*
Looking at picking up one of these for my daughter. She likes the old square body. How's the engine Maintenance on these? Is there any Facebook groups for tips?
If the caulking is cracking and/or failing , scrape it out and redo it with proper caulking. Otherwise, do as was explained here. Your white ranger is KILLER BTW....great job for a driveway build!
Hey brotha! Is there anyway I could ask you some questions about the restoring process? I just got a 1988 ford ranger xlt. It was free and the engine is great but.... the exterior and interior are trashed and I have no idea where to begin/get parts.
Buenas tardes disculpa, con este Kid que utilizaste solamente se puede utilizar con dirección hidráulica? tengo una ranger 1983 estandar 2 wd pero direccion manual, o abra alguna forma de adaptarse para poderlo utilizar?
Man!!!! You know I wish I could have done it that way. It was really my first time recording the journey and I missed that opportunity. Sorry about that. But if you do come across any issues just comment and I will respond. I recently uploaded a video on “video short” of the Ranger. Take a look at it. It still looks sweet!!!! Thanks for watching
Your truck looks awesome!!! I have just bought a 2004 and a 1988 I am going to redo the 88. It is black at the moment but will be going white. How is your paint holding up?
Any issues with rubbing? I have a clean ‘87 looking to lift 6” and was wondering if I could fit 33’s or 35’s, there’s nowhere to get a real good reference
I had a 4" suspension with 33" tires and I did have a clearance issue. To solve the problem I added a 3" body lift, although the 2 inch would've been sufficient. So you can for sure have 33 inch tires with your 6 inch lift, but I don't know about the 35's
I must have invested about 5k into it. But I replaced a lot of old parts for new ones. Gas tank, water pump Radiator etc. Honestly I guess I didn't need to replaced those parts but I really want this truck to last. I have sentimental value.
How’s it?! Okay well it was really a budget build but there were some things I had to buy new. I got a brand new gas tank, water pump, the lift, wheels, tires, stereo etc. Other things I bought either refurbished or used. I got the transmission rebuild, Roll pipes on Offer up etc. all and all with me doing it all I would say about $6,500.
@@procalgarage1792 great man how about you? I am getting a well revised one this Saturday, only a few spots on the paint so I would like to re-do it. How much do you think it cost you for painting the ride and grinding the old paint off?
Your truck came out nice too . What state do you live in ? Maybe we can meet up I would like to talk on what you did ti lift your truck. I’m looking for a good reasonable kit
Hey is this 2wd? Reason why I’m asking I’m considering doing that to mine. The only thing stopping me is it’s 2wd and lifting it would just be for looks. I really do like the look tho
@@procalgarage1792 my truck came with cut fenders in the front lower corners but I only have 31 inch tires. Did you have any issues with that kit ? I'm looking at the james Dunn kit but its $2400. The Rough country I saw had only few parts for the front and I'm wondering is that all I will need or will I need more parts after.
@@rickgonzalez5318 honestly the kit seemed to be complete. I do have 33 inch tires which was the problem with clearance. I read mixed reviews on the Rough Country lift kit before I purchased it and well I guess in the end it depends on how you will use your truck. The kit was $500, I'm sure if you will be doing a lot of off-roading then maybe a higher end lift kit is the way to go.
When do you plan your next trail run maybe we can meet up ? I would like to check your truck lift before I blow the money, I have made a few bad buys already and need to be more careful.
This is the link for the 4" Suspension. There was a bit of rubbing, so I recommend a 3" or higher body lift on top of that. Any body kit will do www.roughcountry.com/ford-suspension-lift-kit-430-20.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwlYCHBhAQEiwA4K21m9X122V3h5fmO8gk0pMjeC9OLkl_LyNdKagozj4lB4atJxm6ia8vkhoCUMgQAvD_BwE
Good!!! All I did to the engine was fix and clean a few minor things. Although I will have to either rebuild the engine or buy a new block. She’s tired. Nonetheless she is good for now👍
@@procalgarage1792 that’s great! I’m buying an 83 w a lift and some bigger tires like these on her she idles really bad but I’ve always been in love with older rangers there just so beautiful
