I have photo AI, but often only use LR. I use subject mask and sharpen adjust the subject, then duplicate and inverse the mask to get the background. I then adjust the background and soften it to get rid of noise and make the subject pop. I think this has been Topaz’s secret sauce pre LR’s ability to find subject and sharpen it while lowering noise in the background. It appears the noise is a busy is less noticeable than noise in the background. LR can handle much of this admittedly with more work.

Well done. Thank you for the refresher. Especially helpful with the new tools added to Lightroom to know what should be done (and not done) and when to use adjustments that are in different areas. The last step is important and under utilized. 😊

Yeah, I always take half an hour or so. It’s hard when I’m excited about a photo. I’ll also usually look at the photo on different devices under different lighting.

Learned a bit more watching this. Would like to see your workflow for a street scene during daylight and evening.

Thank you Anthony! Seeing your workflow really does help! I noticed something along the lines of what you mention at 11:58 in your video about Topaz not putting the file back into Lightroom correctly. I started out with a DNG file (I used the Copy as DNG during import) and sent that to Topaz Photo AI for Denoising and Sharpening. When I brought it back to Lightroom, it did not appear to show up and the Synchronize Folder didn't detect it either. It think there may be something going on with the name being the same (I didn't tell it to make a copy before going to Topaz Photo AI). I then tried it again with a Canon raw file .CR3 and followed the same steps. This time when it came back to Lightroom, the DNG file from Topaz Photo AI was properly placed as a stack with the original CR3 file. I may be doing something wrong going from DNG to Topaz and back. I am satisfied with not importing as DNG anymore and leaving the raw file as CR3, especially after your explanation in your Lightroom Classic course. Thanks again for providing such clear descriptions of your workflow!

Anthony I feel like you should make note that your photo examples in this clip were enhanced in Photo Al. Shows an icon in bottom left of screen. Nothing wrong, but it has to be taken into account as to the end result.

Hi Anthony! Awesome video, all your videos are so well put together. You always explain things in ways that are really easy to understand and implement. I got a quick question for you, hopefully you can help me. Been a little hard to research on line. I'm getting a new pc laptop and I am finally going to get a stand alone monitor to hook up to the laptop as well. Tired of always using the laptop monitor. I use Lightroom, Photoshop and Luminar Neo for editing. I am a Real Estate Agent and do my own photos when I have homes for sale. I do not do photography for a living but love it. Question is: I want to get a 21:9 ratio (Ultrawide) monitor NOT 16:9. Minimum 2K resolution or more. Should I only get a flat ultrawide monitor or curved ultrawide. Trying to figure which is the best for photo editing. Will a curved monitor affect my editing of interior photos and exterior photos. I would prefer a curved monitor but won't get one if it is not good for photo editing. What do you think? Please let me know. Thanks for your time and help!

Great job describing your workflow. Do you think reducing the background brightness and reducing the sharpness of the tree would improve the image. Not offering criticism or suggestions. Just trying to learn from your experience and knowledge. I enrolled in your lightroom course, but haven’t had the time to use it. It’s nice to have it as a resource just in case I forget how you did that(which I always do).

I think that can if it’s very subtle (like moving the exposure slider 0.1). This technique is often overdone and the subject looks like a cutout. Here, the sun is obviously hitting the background and the white bokeh balls should not look gray.

I don't mind the sharpness of the tree. If you soften the bark too much, it would look unnatural since it's on the same plane as the bird. The hotspots do pull my eye away from the bird. What I would do with the background hotspots is use Local Adjustments to Clone them out, or use the Remove tool. (Yes, Lee's right, they go grey if you try to reduce their highlight, white, or exposure level.)

After cropping you were left with about 5.5Mpx. So why not crop in Photo AI and increase the resolution before returning to LR? Thanks.

I don't use Topaz products anymore but even on my laptop I notice quite a colour shift between the RAW file and the DNG from Topaz, is this the case with all images? Thanks.

Does it matter to crop in Topaz vs Lightroom? Topaz can enhance image pixel size and Lightroom not. If you crop in Topaz are all the pixels sent to Lightroom so if needed can reduce crop back towards original? Thanks for such a great channel

In Lightroom (Windows) I go to "File\Plug-in Extras" to find application to edit so I can convert camera raw to DNG but only option I have is "Process with Topaz Photo AI". "Topaz DeNoise AI" or "Topaz Sharpen" or "Topaz Gigapixel AI" do not show up as plug-ins. I like to use those 3 applications when I want to. I tried to add those three applications using Plug-In Manager" but I was not able to add them. Can you help or route me to your previous videos?

I asked him the same question about a year ago. The answer it can be done only with Photo AI and not the other plug inns. I also like to control the noise reduction and the sharpness seperatly and not let Photo AI combine the two together.
@DanOhPhotography
@DanOhPhotography 2 месяца назад
@@shuligreenstein7693 totally agree. Photo AI adds color noise and at least to my knowledge I can not just reduce color noise as is with DeNoise AI. DeNoise has been refined for many years and I am very happy using it. Too bad one can not add other plug-ins. I am considering DXO denoise instead, but I am fine with what I have

@@DanOhPhotography what is color noise? I'm not sure I'm familiar with it.

@@shuligreenstein7693 on Topaz Denoise AI there is a manual slide bar next to the bottom on right side. When I photographed owl at nighttime their faces have color dots Adobe says There are two types of noise in photography: luminance noise and color noise. Luminance noise appears as grainy black and white spots in an image. Color noise appears as colorful dots or pixels. Both types of noise can be distracting and make an image appear unclean.

Why would anyone want to use Adobe products when Adobe are trying to replace creatives with AI, & using your content to put you out of a job?
@DavidMartin-iw9td
@DavidMartin-iw9td 2 месяца назад
AI only puts you out of a job if you forget above creativity or originality. Not to mention thinking, which AI can never do.
