This is the first part to my trilogy, showcasing my memories of Armley with photos I have found on the internet. No copyright is intended. Hope you enjoy.
Lived at 259 Tong Rd from 1962-64 then No 2 4th Avenue from 1964- 65 (My older sister died in this house, I was 4 yrs old ) Then lived at no 4 Butts Mount from 1966 to 1977 ( ages 6 to 17yrs) We were all poor, some more than others but we had a great community, most of my family lived around me, aunts/uncles/Grand Parents, it was a hard time but a good time. so many friends, I often wonder where they are now. I went to Green Lane from 64 - 71 , Armley Park from 71 - 73 then Gotts Park 73 - 76 . . . . I am 62 now and still think of the many things we used to get up to lol
Shops, shops everywhere! How useful. How practical. Now, get in a car, suffer about five sets of traffic lights to a huge supermarket car park - American style! The image at 10'19 of the tower block construction resembles some great spider and it's web that has destroyed all the streets around it.
It is similar however the building is Armley Park Secondary school.( Now used as office space)It is on Stanningley Rd in Armley. Thanks for asking and I hope you have enjoyed this and the other videos.Merry Xmas my friend......
