I remember watching so many moto vloggers when i was like 12, and 9 years later you are the only one i have watch consistently. Thank you for the great content, and gwtting me into riding.
@@ShiShawPocketSand loved his videos, my favorite ones are his build sires, with the supermoto and the Ruckus. need to check him out again. Same with doitwithdan
I've owned a tesla (model y) for 2 years now, and to this day the acceleration has not gotten old. It's ridiculously addicting. I've been in faster cars, but the way it accelerates is smoother than a mushroom tip in a way that a gasoline car just can't match since EV's don't have a transmission. One of the biggest pro's for me is that it has a ton of room inside it, plus you get the front trunk. I legit have hauled an entire-ass recliner in the back of it. The visibility is fantastic with the live camera views while driving. The biggest con to me is actually not the charging or range, it's how impossible it is to keep the damn bugs off the front bumper, followed by how quickly the torque chews through tires, and the tires aren't cheap.
I heard they have a weird camber spec that causes rapid tire wear. I think it’s the Model Y if I remember correctly. @Ghostsoulless - Base & long range models (for 2023 models) use a 245/45R19 tire on front and rear, which is a size that you can find a variety of tires in. The performance model uses 255/35R21 on the front and 275/35R21 on the rear, which I imagine would limit the options drastically. Still, they don’t necessarily need “specialty tires”; it can use any tire with the appropriate size, speed & load ratings. However, the tires that the cars come with when manufactured do have foam dampeners inside to make the tires quieter, since there’s no engine noise, which means more audible road noise from the tires.
@@PokeyCottons I see, didn’t know if they used a weird size to make you have to buy special tires, but good to hear most are sizes that aren’t too hard to find. Their comment made it seem like the tires were expensive due to being a special size or weight rating (since they’re heavy af). Also didn’t know about the dampening, that’s pretty interesting but makes sense.
I also just drove one a few weeks ago, model 3 performance. I was blown away with the acceleration and how good the steering felt. Completely agree though , they are good as secondary car or commuter if you work at a building with free chargers.
Shiit, this whole vlog was like a nostalgia trip. I remember watching your vids back when you first started & watched for several years until life kinda got in the way and I stopped riding, fuckin' awesome to see you're still at it and still as entertaining as ever. Also, it was 103 here in South Dakota yesterday lol
They're awesome cars! I've rented 3 of them on Turo (M3P, MYP and M3LR with acceleration boost). I got hooked when I drove my buddy's M3RWD and was pleasantly surprised with the acceleration of that car, despite only having one motor on only RWD. Coming from the fully-modified STI scene back in the day, I've been wanting a super fast car again ever since I grenaded the motor on mine. Had a Focus ST after that and it just never scratched the itch, honestly. The Model 3 Performance is essentially as fast as my STI was and you really never get tired of the fun of overtaking someone on a canyon road or just having instant acceleration anywhere. Plus, it's pretty reassuring to know you'll dust nearly every car on the road! The great thing with all the performance models is that you never have to worry about being in the right gear and of course, they're AWD. I love driving stick and a nice deep exhaust note, but I'll be honest, driving the Tesla, it doesn't leave you too dissatisfied that you don't have an exhaust note (except maybe downshifting into a turn in a manual car). And the driving experience with the regenerative braking is actually more enjoyable than I expected too. I plan on getting the refreshed "Project Highland" Model 3 Performance (or plaid, if they decide to call it that) either later this year or early next year when they're released. And you're absolutely right about it being best as a second vehicle. For me, I'll have it and a diesel truck. I'll sell my beater 5-speed Civic when I'm ready to buy mine. It's pretty easy to take road trips with them too if you're staying on interstates, heavier traveled back roads and around any bit of civilization. It's when you get to some of the more desolate parts of the West that you've gotta be a little smart about how you charge up to make sure you don't end up stranded. But overall, 250-350mi of range is more than enough for nearly everyone and whenever you stop to charge, you've got 20-30 minutes to stretch your legs, use the bathroom and grab a snack. Really not much different than a fuel stop on a regular trip unless you're really wanting to power through. I can't want to get my own in the near future. Tesla can release the deets and start production on the new one anytime they please!
Couple CONS of a Tesla is 1. Monster Diesels blowing coal. (look it up). and 2. Vehicles (usually trucks) quickly dipping into and out of your lane to activate obstacle avoidance if aTesla is in FDS mode, causing the tesla to brake hard.. Both are dangerous.. Smoke sometimes so thick you cant see, Braking hard on the freeway can be dangerous if someone is following too closely. 50 amp charger install at home is a must if you live in CA as superchargers are crowded there.
Hey Derek been catching up on old videos n loving it. You're the reason I got into bikes like 7 years ago, just bought my dream bike a 2003 gsxr 1000! First big boy bike (licensing is different in my country) keep it up chief
I got a tesla about a year and a half ago, and its dope! Pros: easy, no gas, fun to drive... Cons: long trips for charging.. I used to drive from temecula to UCR (the freeway you were on) and auto pilot the entire way there and back hahah !
Ayo Derek long time sub. I'm on vacation from New zealand in America drove from Las Vegas to LA today was so stoked to see the San bernaghetto signs I wanted to pull off and find some mattresses a Pallone and see if I could find mystical flute man
Tesla pros of course acceleration. Cons panel fitment, range, interior material quality, and price. I make good money but I can’t justify getting one on acceleration alone.
everyone is quick to talk down on teslas and call em souless and shit.. yet i have yet to see a single glizzardlizard that isnt smiling ear to ear when you do a quick pull on one. even big drag racing channels that hates EVs cant hate on evs anymore after they tried it. people are so scared of change they write off anything new and foreign to them. hell, even gas powered cars had the same type of hate when the jdm cars were starting to get introduced into the us and later the kdm cars.
Dude... I totally relate with the energy drink thing. I can't drink them anymore because my body can't take all that caffeine. My nervous system goes haywire and I just feel antsy and on-edge all day.
If i were in america it's no brainer to get ev especially Tesla, the charging network is amazing. No need to deal with expensive regular expense like engine oil, transmission oil, oil filters, spark plugs, etc. You don't feel guilty to turn on the ac from a far before using because it does not produce any toxic particulate when idle.
if you like classics and muscle cars I'd suggest going to hot august nights in reno, week long event throughout Reno/Sparks. usually first or second week of August
I’m an og that fell off like from back when you numbered your moto vlogs in the thumbnail.. but yea just life and bullshit right anyway I’m glad I’m back man
@bakerxderek bro it's been 103-107° heat index feels like 115° every day for almost the last month here in Central TX near Austin. Been miserable out. Hardly been riding my 15' Grom I just got after your videos got me riding again.
Another great vid, I don't know I got nothing else to say lol gotta love those bumpy highways on a bike. I hate it so much on my Aprilia I tend to avoid it if I can.
I haven’t watched this video yet. I will, but my gf and I have decided your name is now Bacon Burrowtip. Pls do more David Attentip vids lol Have a good night lol 😂
In the 70s we were only a few years off having a currency backed by gold now 50 years later inflation has made everything more expensive because our money is worth less every year! Also no matter which company you are buying gas or diesel from it all comes from exactly the same tanks at the terminals!
That weiner must have went down so good 😩💦 LMAO Ride safe and stay cool this weekend brutha. Theres like 4 fires going on right now in Riverside County. MoVal is on fire also
I hate the way those new Broncos look, but I'll tell you what: I'm a tall motherfucker and that seat goes so far back even *my tall ass legs* can't reach the pedals.
