This man (Chris) is fantastic. He has learnt me how to use The Behringer Xenyx X1204 USB with FX. He has also learnt me how to set it op for live radio broadcasting, and for internet broadcasting. An finaly he has shown me how to record from the mixer to for example Audacity. So now I can make radio 3 ways by using The Behringer Xenyx X1204 USB with FX - live radio, live internet radio and recording radio broadcasting, so that other radio stations can use my radioshows. Thank You so much Chris - It is a pleasure to get to know you

Very clear! I've watched a few videos and got confused when looking to set up my mixer properly. I found it interesting how you use a XRL to 3.5mm to connect Skype to the Mixer. This is something I might look at in the future as at the moment I use 2x 1/4 cables to 3.5mm which is inserted into my mobile phone. I look forward to watching more of your tutorials. Thank you! :-)

Thanks for this. I've had this mixer for a while and learned some things. It might be more helpful to refer to the audio going to the "auxiliary out" jack rather than the "Skype channel" because it goes to wherever you send that "aux out" cable. And maybe give an explanation of what mix minus is. Anytime you're looking at a news cast and a few seconds into the live on-scene report, and the reporter yanks the earpiece out, it's because the mix-minus wasn't set up correctly and the reporter is hearing him or herself back a second or two later. It couldn't be more distracting. Very nice job, though, and I'm happy I stumbled into this.

Thanks for replying, man! Highly appreciated. Currently I am also trying to change my setup a bit so that I can use some audio samples (bloopers) into my youtube videos (let's plays), especially when I am gaming with others but also for my podcasts. So I wish to hear these and my voice and my coop-partners should also. I wish to get this running with only 1 laptop (2 monitors) though and have troubles with the latency when hearing myself. Do you know about any software solution to get rid of this delay? I am using a Pronomic M-502, so a very basic mix table, as well as a XLR-microphone. Just want to give it a try asking you as maybe you found some solution over the year;) Buying a new mix table shouldn't be a problem but it shouldn't be too expensive.

Nice tutorial, very helpful. My problem is I only have Macs. Macs only have 1 audio interface, 1/8" in and out. How do I do mix minus with only 1 interface? The skype laptop will input into one of the channels (e.g., 1/8" to 1/4"), then there's no room for the aux back in to the laptop.

you have to physically "tap" the effects button to make a selection . i just found that out playing with my behringer . it says "tap" above the "program / parameter" dial . some of the effects make kind of "echo / reverb" noises . you ALSO use the "ORANGE" dials to send the effect to the main mix , i'm pretty sure .

Can you use the 2nd Auxillary Output to send to another source just like the 1st output is used? Thanks in advance! Great job!

Really nice and informative video man. I've been using a Behringer Xenyx 802 mixer for the past few years for recording guitar and gameplay commentary. I also play bass in a band with some friends, and I recently upgraded to a Behringer Xenyx X2442USB analog mixer so I can record band practices. I'm also beginning to take some interest in podcasting, and I was wondering what is on the other end of that aux send chord you were talking about? (The quarter inch jack, black one at the top). Like is it a quarter inch to quarter inch, a quarter inch to 3.5mm, or what? And where does that plugin into? And you mentioned that that was important, but what exactly is it used for? Thanks! EDIT: Sorry I just realized that my question was answered in the comment below me.

You should do a tut on running a G+ , YT or live-stream ,/ hangouts / super-chat…. I see so many ppl having issues w/the audio & the screen sharing…. doing these I just got this one minus the FX's. I have a good interface that has inserts USB I got the mixer to do some looping petals & other instrument into a powered speaker for drums & bass loops on the out put of the Trio petal as well as the sDrum petal w/a guitar amp combo for stringed instruments. As well as a small set up for jams w/other musicians. But this gave me a whole other application for the mixer. Great job. I'd love to see any tuts on running the live streams like a Live Podcast I suppose w/the YT G+ interface it would be well received I believe & much needed. I'm on a mac. I was just thinking it might not be that hard to take that 1/4" input on Chn 1 & make it an insert jack. I have a buddy that is an audio gear guru he'd know if it could be done easily.

Hello. Great video! I have a question, how can I connect my Behringer Xenyx 1204 USB mixer to my Behringer MDX 4600 gate/compressor? I'm open to suggestions... (for my podcast and it should include a mix minus also, but explained perfectly ). Thank you in advance for your answer.
@Tnerdt1
@Tnerdt1 6 лет назад
Thank you for the question and watching the video. This mixer is not really meant to use an external gate limiter. The mixer in the video has built in compression knobs. These are not the best in the world but they do an ok job considering the price of this mixer. In order to use an external gate limiter you need a mixer that has line inputs. they are usually 1/4 inputs just under the XLR mic input per channel or they are on the back like on some Mackie mixers.

Hi There, i know its an old video but i got a question regarding the Phantom power. If i understood you correctly you used the headphone out of the skype machine (where the audio is comming out) to go into the XLR connector on Port 4. Your microphone is connected to XLR on port on. I would like to copy that set up( got the cord here), but i am stumped right now. My mic needs phantom power. Will the phantom power not "fry" the headphone jack on the laptop - as it is connected to an XLR port. Thanks in advance.

Super helpful video. Thanks for posting! I just got this mixer for my podcast. Have you thought about replacing your PC w/ an iPad app that has a sound effect machine? What app do you currently use for your effects? Cheers
@Tnerdt1
@Tnerdt1 8 лет назад
+Chipper Nicodemus Thank you for watching the video and for the suggestion and question. When I first started podcasting my goal was to do it with as little hardware as possible. I wanted to just use a laptop and iPad, that would have worked had I not gone crazy and decided to do other things that required more horse power. Because I use my iMac to record and do the sound effects I use an app called Sound board its not the best but it works. Thanks to having a mixer I can hook almost anything up to it. So I can still use my iPad as a sound board or I can get an actual soundboard the sky is the limit, ok ... also budget lol. If you have any more questions or comments Nicodemus hit me up.

Hi there mate - a very good video..very very informative. I was wondering if you can help me. I have the same mixer for 3 months now and I have connected my condenser mic (xlr) on channel 1, connected my monitors and the headphones to the mixer...I am using the usb cable to connect it to the laptop. What I am trying to do is to play a karaoke track on my laptop - which I should be able to hear in the studio headphones over my ears and then when I start singing (using the condenser mic) then I want my vocals to be recorded on a separate channel (not to be mixed with karaoke track) and I want to hear myself real time when singing/recording my vocals... is it even possible with this mixer or should I look for some other mixer that can do what I require

James Day Thank you for watching the video and for the purchase. When using CH 7/8 you could connect a iPad using the proper cables. Not to mention lap top pc or pretty much anything as a input. Just keep in mind CH 7/8 are audio input channels, if you wanted to have another mix minus you would have to use the fx out similar to using the Aux out. There are so many audio options when using a mixer its hard to actually list them all.

Instead of using your phones to an input, why don't you use aux/fx send to return? This would allow you to run send to fx pedals or a compressor if you want and back to return in stereo or mono. Just curious. Send and return is what I like in a mixer and I was looking at this one on reverb for like $150.

Hi, thanks for uploading such a great tutorial on x1204usb. I recently bought one to record bamboo flutes but I am struggling with its setup. I followed similar to your setup with SM57 but I am not getting enough signal level such as yours. if I increase preamp level and gain the lights showing signal level do not go as high as yours and sound becomes very choppy. I am using Audacity to record. I am new to recording and I am not sure if it my SM57 that does not have high enough output or it the mixer that is defective. I would appreciate if you could kindly advise on troubleshooting.

Awesome video, I was thinking about buying this mixer for my podcast and watching your video made me even more convinced :) I also have a question, perhaps a stupid one but I'm totally new to recording. When you record through the mixer, can you get one track for each channel in your recording software or do you only get all the sound output from the mixer as one single audio track?

You get the main mix, not each channel separately.

Thank you so much for that Video =) I recently got myself the XENYX 1204 for Twitch Streaming too, but I guess i´m running in some Issues, when I Plugin a XLR to 3.5mm TSR for my Music Line or Voice Chat Line the sound is a little bit more strange, less depths and struggeling with bass and kind of crackling sound, I tried plugging a ground loop isolator between but that didn´t work, may you have an advice =)

Why do you need a USB mixer if you can do recordings with just a USB microphone? Im confused. Can a USB microphone be used if your mixing board isnt USB

Sooo if I use the 1/4" jacks in 7/8 with a splitter from my headset port in my laptop and plug my headset into phones then I should be able to hear whats coming from my laptop? I ask because its not working out for me. Is there any advice on what I may be missing?

I have a question, I want to sent my mic and Skype to recording software, sent my mic to Skype (but not the music, RU-vid etc. out of my PC) and want to sent Skype and my desktop audio to to headphones. The desktop audio is just for me so I don't want to sent my desktop audio to the main mix for recording or to my Skype callers. Is that possible and how is it possible?

Even though you use the FX it would have been nice to see how to use it. How to switch between presets and the like. Thanks though I learned a lot of other stuff here.

Hello, im trying to figure out how to connect this to my PC. Ive got my mic pluged in (shure pg42) but i have no idea what cables i need to get to connect it to my PC. As far as i can tell i need some RCA cables but what size? (if thats even what i need)

+Barrett Prime well I have mine hooked up with the USB as and audio input. I then use my 3.5 headphone jack as an audio output that plugs into channels 5and 6 using a cable that 3.5mm to stereo 1/4 jacks. If you need more details you can email me at feedback@tnerdt.com easier that way.
