A person like her would never marry a man who would stand up to her. Narcissistic women only marry weak men, the kind of men who are happy to let their kids take the heat from her because it gives them a brake from being "in trouble" with her.

Yesss I'm having my baby soon and we're going low-contact with my dad because he's just one of those people who thinks the only right way is his way. I plan on trying to be as gentle a mom as possible and my dad has straight-up told me I' a wimp for that. Like, sorry I don't want to subject my child to the abuse I went through?? No matter what it's so important that new parents set FIRM boundaries with the grandparent. Your days as a momma's boy and a daddy's girl (etc.) are over when you have a child to protect and your parents are pushing their limits.

If you ever feel like you cannot trust someone with your child, I recommend that you make a list who is NOT allowed to pick up your child from daycare and school. Some people will be bold enough to do this again in later years, and when they know you are at work and the child is being watched by your trusted individuals. Always be vocal about who is not to be trusted around your kids. Hope this helps anyone.

This is a very good idea, I will do this because my MIL is very unstable and has a very weird obsession with our son who is now 5 years old and have had no contact for over 2 and a half years for her pain pill addiction and alcoholism. We have a 1.5 year old daughter now who she hasn't seen. This list idea will definitely be a big help because my husband's mom is just bold enough to do something like this even though we live 3 hours away from her in a different county.

My MIL has a nursery at her house, but she built it because our nephews live on the coast, and we live on the prairies. Our nephews and SIL live at her house when they come to visit, and will stay for a month at a time, so she wanted to ensure that the boys had somewhere safe and cozy to seep when they come visit. There are stable ways for grandparents to have nurseries set up, but this is totally not it 😬

(I can't help but share my story lol) A little context I have one older brother and 3 younger sisters my mom really wanted another boy but she kept having miscarriages. I was pregnant with my first baby at 20 years old, my mom said if it was a boy she was going to file for custody because she didn't like where I lived (we lived with my husband's older brother and his wife in a 5 bedroom house to save on rent) unfortunately my mom passed away 4 months into my pregnancy but sometimes I can't help but think what would have happened if she was still here. P.s. I ended with 3 daughters and no boys feels like there was a reason.

I can’t imagine having to go through that. That mother is either having a mental breakdown, or she’s that intent on punishing/one-upping her DIL. First, no way she was going to get custody. They literally could test right then and there if she was concerned about the mother using drugs. And considering that the mother just went through a traumatic experience (labor) and will be dealing with PP issues, no judge is going to let that hold up in court about her looking a certain way at her child. Someone obviously doesn’t understand how HARD it is to get grandparent rights. I feel bad for the DIL. I’m sure that even now, she’s experiencing guilt over not knowing her baby was gone. She’s pregnant with her second one, so I’m hoping that she was able to go to therapy. The fact the mother got a slap on the wrist for kidnapping is disgusting. I honestly am glad she moved, because I would have recommended to the young couple that they move as far and fast as they could if that wasn’t the case.
@kaorisity4962
@kaorisity4962 3 года назад
i really hope the baby took no trauma from this as everything that happens while the mom is pregnant and in the few moments/months after birth (when babies are on „survival mode“) has a big effect on their worldview in terms of trust, surviving and safety. Being kidnapped even if it wasn’t physically harmed could make a child develop trust issues deep down as their sense of basic trust and safety could get hurt.

My nephew is 3 months old. My mom still calls him "our baby" and says "when we were pregnant" or "we had to have a c-section because our baby was so big and (sisters name) is a small woman but we are doing much better now" and "we have decided to breastfeed" it hurt my sister so much. But luckily her and her husband live several states away and my mom has a pathological fear of plane travel so unless my dad (who has his own issues but is not completely delusional) plans it with my sister that he will drive her down (mom also has a pathological fear of bridges and won't drive on them) they are safe from escalation of the behavior. I on the other hand live 30 min away from my parents and they are a huge reason my husband and I have chosen not to have children. Not the only reason but a real big one.

we do keep them in a bassinet when very young but they tend to move on to a nursery within a few months (depends on the parents)
@brittanylockwood6085
@brittanylockwood6085 3 года назад
It’s the same in the US. They recommend that you keep them in a bassinet, pack n’ play, or a mini crib next to your bed for the first 6 months, or until baby can roll. They technically then “advise” moving to a crib or pack n’ play for the remaining 6 months in the same room. So in the same room for a year. But it depends on the parent, and their particular living situation. But I agree. I like to think I would wake up if someone grabbed my son from his bassinet attached from my bed.

From what I have heard, most parent who do not get maternity leave for a baby, or have only a month tend to move baby out of their room sooner so that they can sleep better. But in cases like that baby gets ignored for a portion of the night.
@brittanylockwood6085
@brittanylockwood6085 3 года назад
@ Pink_Sock_Girl I have never heard of that. I only get 2 weeks of leave when my son is born (due this month) and I would never move him out just so that I could sleep better. Not knocking people who do, but I have personally never heard of someone doing that. I would sleep less knowing that my baby is not next to me. But I guess it depends on the parent and their parenting style.

I had a neighbour try & get me to sign over my rights and give my newborn to her friends🤷‍♀️ The couple were just shocked as me when I said this was not going to happen and walked inside. They had clearly been misled. 3 days later child services left a calling card to arrange a visit ASAP. An "anonymous caller" had made torture allegations against me. Yeah, I stripped my newborn down to show he was not injured in any way and gave them a tour of my house. They said "case closed" and left. Incredibly pathetic decision on her part given that there are children genuinely suffering. After they left, I called up and moved in with a friend while I broke my lease and quickly found a new place. There are a lot of lunatics in this world.

My grandparents did this to us when we were babies! My dad was at a temporary job posting overseas, and my mum was in university. My maternal grandparents had come to visit and help out bc she was just re-starting university after my birth. Then when she was at school, they put us in the car and took us to a hotel. My mother didn't have a car, and lived for weeks getting only weekend visits with her own children when her dad would pick her up and take her to come see us. Then he said "why did you have children for someone else to raise?" as though he hadn't taken us away from her. Then she called my dad who came down for a weekend and showed up at my grandparents' and took us away. My mum spent the next 3 months without us, but at least we were with our dad (overseas) instead of being dangled in front of her face by her insane parents. She didn't talk to them for the next 3 years (until my younger brother was born) but we never visited them, any visits had to be at our house, and with our dad present.

While I can't speculate on a father's feelings about this, many mothers tend to have an intrinsic fear of someone taking their child, and it's even worse if it's someone they know bc that means that person was allowed in their home. I'm not accusing you of having some diabolical plan to kidnap their baby, but be conscious that if both parents are involved in the child's life, then both parents need to be informed. Just reaching out to the one you're related to doesn't cut it once they've built their own family unit.

"BEC"... I think NOAC would have been more memorable "nails on a chalkboard". Even if the sound doesn't annoy u, everyone knows the phrase.
