This song, particularly, is interesting to see different generations react to. I first heard this when I was 12 when I bought this album. I am now 48. I've listened to it regularly throughout the years, and it somehow gets deeper as I get older. Just saying that seeing you and your mom's reactions, I was somehow able to see both the young and older versions of myself at the same time.

Let mom listen to the entire Dark Side of the Moon album. There's a great live version from the Pulse concert, the one you two saw "Comfortly Numb", of this.

I am French by birth, yes I know, it's sad for me, but what can I do about it? In high school, my English teacher had asked us to form teams of two, and lead a discussion in front of the class, based on an article from an English newspaper or magazine. My friend and I chose to make our presentation with the lyrics of this song. Needless to say that the lyrics of the song "Time" were a source of very lively discussions, to the point that the teacher allocated us a whole class period.

"Not afraid to push the boundaries" In the late 1960's to early 1970's it was almost a requirement to push the boundaries. Everyone was experimenting, trying out new sounds, changing what we thought 'pop' music was. It's an education to work your way through sounds of the '60's to hear how things changed. From simple love songs 'I love her she loves me I'm so happy' or 'I love her, she doesn't love me I'm so sad' to whole album epics themed around live, death and the meaning of it all. To hear the changes, the best group to listen to as they progress is of course The Beatles. In three years they went from 'She Loves You', a single, to Sargent Peppers an entire themed album. It gave everyone an example of what could be done, and groups just piled in and did their own themed albums. So much great music (and a lot of experimental rubbish), came out that really good things which today would stand out, were lost because even better things were being done. Each week an album from someone came out that was incredible, and you could say 'I've never heard anything like this, it's amazing' To be cool at school you had to come in with the latest full LP (long play) album, with whatever super creative artwork was on the cover, to show off. Try a few of the 2nd tier groups to get a sense of what was going on outside, Pink Floyd, Beatles, etc. E.g. Family "Music in a Dolls House" or King Crimson "In the Court of the Crimson King", early Fleetwood Mac, e.g. "Then Play on"

The mom, is really cool! 😅🤭I'm agree with another reaction, which said you didn't, really, told about the deep lyrics! But, for me, it's the guitar solo which is the best (sorry, i'm a guitarist), but, as always, they're building up the song perfectly, with the guitar solo explosion! PS: did you know, at the time, they recorded that legendary album, they was no digital, only, analog, in studio, so for the intro, they have to record real clocks! That's why they are genius, and why Rock'n'roll, will always be the coolest music in the world!✌️🎸😅

Very few people on the planet earth play guitar with so much feeling as David Gilmour. You can just feel the emotion as he plays his solos. Time is a very significant song for older people, but it should be appreciated by young people the most because of the message behind it. Time is YOUR most precious commodity. Do NOT squander it. It goes before you realize it. Every decade goes by faster.

Back in O.C. Calif when I was 30 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a P.F. show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station (KMET - LA, “The Mighty Met”) to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio Cynthia Fox…. said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"... I met David Gilmour back stage. He gave us both a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. Hard to explain how awesome that moment was in my life. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. . I told him in my eyes he’s a “Legend“. He thanked me and said “Enjoy the show”…. during the concert after the song “Money” he looked right at me and said…. “On saxophone, another Legend, Mr. Raphael Ravenscroft” … acknowledging my comment to him. It is my favorite moment in over 300 shows I’ve seen. I asked David…. How do you create those awesome solos?… he said….. I sit on a stool and listen to what Roger, Nick and Rick put down and play along. I listen to what I played and pick out what I like, then I put the pieces together into one piece then learn to play it as one. Our fans are fanatics for our shows to sound like the albums so I must play it correctly each time in a show. I have the concert Brochure and album on the wall with David’s picture centerfold.

Re previous comment from David Allred..... this is one of those songs with must read and listen to..... ( read because song lyrics are often misheard ). Also the intro and then music does take ones attention away from the actual words and their content. Re the intro...... Pink Floyd pioneered so many different things. Using clocks, alarms, real chimes and cash registers are just the tip of the ice berg. To sit wondering..... what is this. Where is this going ? That is part of the Pink Floyd journey. At first you don’t know . With experience , you learn that the next step or piece is worth the wait....... although I do find parts of the wall to be not necessary time fillers or just not entertaining as music. But they do help to tell the story, the message. In that sense, they have a purpose...... But once you know the story, you don’t need those parts at all. lol

A timeless song. Corny, but so true for this song. And for just about every Pink Floyd song. As many say in every Reaction Videos Channel I watch for this song, the lyrics for Time mean more as one ages. I was about 14 when this album came out. It took America, and the world, by storm. Money was extremely popular, and for good reason. But over the decades, Time became a favorite. The build in the beginning, then the singing part explodes in your ears. And then the guitar solo accompanied by a barrage of other instruments. Simply a great song with lyrics that border on being inspired. Many many Pink Floyd fans have grown into these lyrics. We sort of put them on as we get older. And we learn to get comfortable in them, if not a little bit numb.

You really need to listen to this album with proper headphones that completely cover the ears so all outside noise is blocked out. Over the ear headphones or earbuds just aren’t up to the job of handling Pink Floyd. When you listen with headphones you’ll notice the sound seems to move around, to make you feel as if it’s surrounding you on all sides. When you went to a Pink Floyd concert they had a better sound system than anyone, much earlier than anyone else. In the late 60’s they blew people’s minds at their shows because their sound system wrapped around the building you were in, so it was coming at you from every direction, and it would move all over at different times. It also explains why so many Pink Floyd fans smoke weed.
