I love how you filmed this video, Cars and Comments. What a cool little car this is, too. Excellent presentation in this video of the little pocket rocket.
You are welcome sir! Glad you enjoyed the video. Props on your choice of car, hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine! Thanks again for watching and commenting!
So weird, I'm just coming out of my e39 528i and heavily considering the fiesta. My e39 was great on gas, but like you said it was just older and I'd fix one thing and two more things would go wrong. Guess this is a sign to go for it haha
I just bought a 2017 with low miles. Its a really good car. I've enjoyed my 500 Abarth for almost 5 years, but this thing is better in almost every way. I agree with the comments about the 0-60 time being deceiving and find it interesting that nobody really talks about the fact that there little to no boost in first gear and it seems to be that way for the Focus ST and RS. I can only assume its a clutch saving measure designed by Ford. I'm in no way complaining, just pointing out my observation. This car is crazy fun and for me, extremely practical.
I love with my 2018 Fiesta ST, if you did not have to shift to third gear at 56 mph it would be darn near a half second faster from 0 to 60 so don't be fooled by the 0 to 60 times it scores move the rev limiter up to 7000 rpms and look out focus ST side by side from 0 to 60
That is a very important point. Having to shift twice to reach 60 really hurts the 0-60 time. I wouldn't change the transmission, though. The ratios are perfect, and it shifts great with an aftermarket quick shift kit and rear motor mount. Add a tune, and it really shits and gits.
My first brand new car I’ve ever bought is my 2017 Ford Fiesta ST. I’m young and know people say that they make their first brand new car mistake young but honestly I haven’t regretted buying mine for a second. Great review new subscriber. Maybe do a video on installing your roof rack?
Awesome! Congratulations on your first new car and thrilled to hear you love your ST. Really appreciate you commenting and subscribing! I recently gave it some Mountune upgrades and the snow is coming so certainly many videos to come. Stay tuned and thanks again!
Great video! Your review of the FiSt was very informative. Did you try one with the Recaros? If so, how do the base seats compare in comfort and support, especially when hooning? I just subscribed, so please keep the cool videos coming!
Thanks! Really glad you enjoyed the video and really appreciate your subscription! The recaros definitely provide better support when driving hard but the base seats are honestly quite good at supporting the driver as well. The base seats also sit lower in the car so I personally prefer the seating position they provide. Try some recaros before you buy one because I have heard other Fiesta ST say they can’t live without recaros and some say they can’t stand them. Depends on the shape and build of the driver. Thanks again!
Sold my JEEP wrangler in 2014 to get a 2015 Fiesta SE due to gas mileage (got 11mpg with JEEP) which I really liked but fast forward 2yrs later I went to get it serviced and looked at the 2017 Fiesta ST and ended up trading my SE for the ST and fell in love. Seeing some reviews of people testing it on RU-vid and the ones that don't own one are the people who criticize all the little things and as you stated I really don't care, I love the car. I'm also going mountune on it little by little as my wallet will allow. Thumbs up on your review.
You are correct, that fact slipped my mind while the cameras was rolling. Glad you enjoyed the video and I suspect you'll really like the ST. I have put 10,000 miles on mine in 6 months and it continues to get better. Time for an update video soon... Good luck shopping and thanks for watching!
I see you utilize heel and toe on your fist but I've noticed the gas pedal and brake are not positioned right to accomplished this. Can you do a video of how you do heel and toe on a fist?
Just picked up 2019 fiesta ST... Not sure about it yet but only have 348 miles on it ha... I dont know much about tuner cars and what i can do with it but eventually would like to pump it up to atleast 350hp. Ill keep tabs on your channel
Absolutely! I use the Yakima base line towers with just the standard Yakima round bar. Then I got the Yakima high rollers for the bike mounts. It’s a good setup works great for me.
I’ve been a MINI guy forever!!!! I have a paceman and a countryman. The countryman is no longer so I’m HEAVILY looking into a Fiesta ST. And once I saw a video of one smoking a MINI in a drag race I was sold😍😍😍
Great video man! I noticed that u don’t have the Recaro seats, I’m seriously considering buying a FiST but I’ve heard passengers think the recaros are uncomfortable, is the car still great without the seats?
The recaros are great if you can get them but the seats I have are still really good and because they aren’t heated you sit lower in the car so personally I prefer the seating position they offer. I just had it out at a track day at lime rock and the seats did a great job being supportive in corners. Try both seats out if you can but either seat option is good. Glad you enjoyed the video and good luck finding a FiST!
Cross bars, towers, bike carriers and wind faring together was about 1,000 bucks but this is my second car I’ve had it on so it’s been a really worthwhile upgrade for the amount I ride and need to transport my bike
Due to you hauling a bike around, maybe the fiesta is a better choice than the abarth. But I think the abarth is also one of those cars and it's also a great little hot hatch choice. I love mine.
I’d love to drive an Abarth I hear great things about them and the engine sounds awesome! Glad to hear your enjoying yours! Maybe I can get one with the ST on camera for a comparison... Thanks for the comments!
Cars and Comments gonna sound stupid... But eh what the hell. Why don't we compare each other's? I have no idea where you might be, I know your plate is shown in the video... But I reside in Illinois, could be a potential idea I'm throwing out there...
I really appreciate the offer man! I’m in New Hampshire and I have a friend locally looking to buy one. Logistics would be difficult but I really appreciate the generosity kind sir!
That wind faring in this video wasn't really good at preventing wind whistle. I have since up graded to a newer 40 inch yakima wind faring and yakima high speed bike carriers. You can see what it looks like in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VNBJvHqogQ8.html The 40 inch faring works well, I drive windows down a lot and you can't really hear the roof rack which is nice. I'm almost positive the bars are 48", 30" would definitely be really small.
2019 It has no oh shit handles and has no hanger hooks. Be wary of the transmission sometimes it sticks. When you push the start button sometimes it doesn't start for 10 seconds or so. Only the driver's window has express up-and-down. The other 3 windows hold to open and close. Sunroof only has express open not close. Engine makes non rpm noise. Finger controls such as blinkers and wipers could be more ergonomic designed. 1/2 moon storage below A/C useless anything will fall out. Hard to see traffic out right rear window corner even with rear headrests collapsed. ST should be fully loaded. Mine came without heated seats. However, seats are durable cloth unlike cold leather needing heat. Having said all that I dig the car white on black, I WOULD REALLY DIG IT IF CAME EQUIPPED LIKE IT'S EUROPEAN COUSIN...
Try it out yourself, what I've heard from most people is you get more power (and fun) as well as better fuel efficiency with a higher octane fuel. Ethanol content in the gas also makes a difference, it gives you a bit less efficiency but more power. I think it's worth it to get at least 91 octane. Higher octane also gives your engine more protection against knock and in hot weather (or repeated pulls) you get more consistent power.
Absolutely! Clutch and shifter are very light and easy to interact with. I have taught a few people to drive manual on it and they have done very well.
My setup is Yakima baseline towers, Yakima roundbars, Yakima windfarring and the bike carriers are Yakima high rollers in this video but I have since replaced those with Yakima highspeed bike carries. The highrollers broke and are much bulkier and heavier than the newer highspeed bike carriers.
I haven’t had the pleasure of driving an abarth so I can’t say for sure. I like the extra practicality of the ST and I hear the ST is more fun to drive too. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I went abarth. Drove a new fiesta, sorta really hated the interior... The drive didn't make me ignore everything else. Test drove a 2012 Abarth. 5 minutes in I knew I wanted the car. It's hilarious to drive! I Got the 2012 with 65k ish mines. Sitting at about 69k now. The list price for it was about 7,500 when I got it. Half the price of the fiesta, even used with similar mileage.
