my new favorite microtrend... 

All the aunts in this comment section celebrating this validation tells me this isn't necessarily a new microtrend but a new name for a timeless aesthetic. Most of us have that one female family member who's crafty, a little weird, a little boho, and one of our favourite people in the world, and I love that she is being celebrated! (also this was a pretty slick way to make a 7 minute ad lol)

This was such a fun concept for the video. As a 30 year old aunt, I have discovered that I am, in fact, participating a bit in the Aunt Wave aesthetic. I am currently wearing a pastel "confetti" knit cardigan haha.

This Auntwave reminds me of something really black. Like it reminds me of Jacob Lawrence paintings, Jazz, the later part of the 20th century, and social justice. I'm sorry if this is out of nowhere but this is what it reminds me of and I've had it in my head for years now.

This whole trend is literally my entire childhood that I got rid of because I wanted to be cool…so happy that it’s back

I became a literal aunt this month so this makes me so happy. I'm the family member who does "crafts" like crochet, jewelry making, painting, etc that sometimes aren't considered art but are just for the fun of it. This style feels reminiscent of the idea that things can be fun and not need to be perfect. Definitely moving into my "aunt" era😆

absolutely here for this !! i’ve always loved lil knick knacks and trinkets but recently got into crochet and knitting and by association have become obsessed with anything quirky and aunt/granny adjacent lmaooo, glad to see others catching the wave too !!

Also anyone else feel like auntwave is totally the vibe of slipping out the backdoor at thanksgiving to smoke a cheeky joint & bringing a dish to the table that's a little more unique, like savory sweet potato casserole with paprika, sage, walnuts, and feta. Heck yeah, this is the aesthetic I've always wished for but never could quite encapsulate into one specific idea enough for it to be that right level of eclectic cohesiveness. Thank you so much for sharing this knowledge, I think it helps me get a better idea of the style I am still trying to figure out for myself even though I'm 25. I avoided dressing for confidence for years, and have had an ever changing body shape, so I still feel a lot like a teenager figuring out how dress myself.
