Welcome back to The Billiard Corner. In today's video, I will be reviewing the highly anticipated FULL CARBON FIBER playing cue made by Becue. This cue is from Becue's Prestige line of playing cue. The full carbon fiber cue takes stiffness to a new level which allows you to push the limits of power even further.

I bought my Becue in Vegas in 2019. I had initially been looking to simply test out CF shafts with my Ned Morris custom with which I'd enjoyed the wood shaft for many years, and took the opportunity during a large tournament with many exhibitors to test out a variety. I tried about a half dozen, and gravitated towards the Becue Prime M and the Cuetech Synergy as my favorites, but neither was quite compelling enough... And then the fella at the Becue booth said "hey do me a favor and try the Becue shaft with the matching CF butt." Fateful words... It felt better than anything else I'd ever used - custom or production, natural, synthetic or hybrid. I bought one on the spot, and haven't looked back. I've since picked up the Engage 11.8 and am even happier with it - though for some the Prime M may remain the better option - as well as a Becue extension. If you ever have the opportunity, try one. Cues are a very personal thing, so I won't be so bold as to say that this is the right Cue for everyone, but it's one everyone should try.

I have had a go customs carbon fiber butt for a couple of years now. Love it. The advantages of a carbon fiber butt are the same as a carbon fiber shaft: High durability and low maintenance. And for me, I don't just sweat in my bridge hand, but also my shooting hand. So carbon fiber's slickness is something I like in the butt as well.

@@TheBilliardCorner would a carbon shaft or full carbon cue be okay for someone buying there first cue? Coming from old bar cues I don’t have anything else to base it on, so if it’s my first nice cue, I’d adjust to it pretty quickly wouldn’t you think?
@TheBilliardCorner
@TheBilliardCorner 10 месяцев назад
@@Cody2nd I would generally recommend a person's first cue be something more entry level (Around $100-$350). That way you can learn how to properly take care of a cue, your preferences in weight, balance, tips, type of hit, shaft diameter, joint material etc. Then once you get more in tune with your game and want to upgrade, you will know exactly what you want. I started out with a used Mcdermott cue (around $150) and learned from there. However, if you got the cash and really want to jump to carbon, no harm in it other than spending $$. @mattevans1643
@mattevans1643 5 месяцев назад
@@Cody2nd it's not exactly a problem, it's actually probably better for you. LD shafts require you to be a better player and undertanding the physics of pool. The worse of a player you are the more it will show with lower deflection shafts, but when you find out how bad you are early on, you get better faster. You can go carbon fiber if you want to, but honestly i wouldn't spend less than $160 on a cue. But if you really want to go full carbon fiber, there is a brand called Rhino out of vietnam that makes full carbon fiber cues for $300, shaft included, or Jflowers, or Raven with a regular butt. I played with wood forever, only used a carbon shaft a few times, and the main reason i got a cynergy shaft was because the dings in the shaft after years of playing began to irritate me as i would pre stroke, due to me being a newer player it was dropped a few times. And the shaft is now slightly warped, completely playable but slightly annoying as I forget to compesate for the warpage sometimes. But i have switched to Carbon for my shaft and have no problems. The main reason you don't want to start with carbon is because of the reason i listed above with my cue, you're gonna be a little irresponsible, and just because CF is stronger doesn't mean you can't damage it. But with the brands mentioned above you can't go wrong as replacements are cheaper than most wood shafts.
@mattevans1643
@mattevans1643 5 месяцев назад
That has to do with the tip, the stiffness of the shaft, all the little intricacies of physics. You learned all of your physics from the specific shaft you used. Then you switched to CF which does not react the same way as your previous shaft. You have to relearn your physics with the new CF shaft because it's physics are different. 90% is the same, but you now have to learn how the new shaft reacts to every different type of shot. It's a time of use thing, you can't just pick up new equipment and expect it to be the same.

@TheBilliardCorner

@@ljubomirparo6726 The Engage is quite stiff but I wouldn't say way too stiff. I would say the stiffness is similar to the Mezz Ignite. I just personally prefer a shaft that is more forgiving like the Prime M. The Engage offers lower deflection compared to the Prime M.

After watching your review I decided to pull the trigger and I went all in on Becue. I bought the Naked break cue, the Natural born naked playing cue w/ engage 11.8 shaft and Becue's medium tip, their extension, cleaning kit, the Leonardo weight system, and case. Break cue is amazing!!! It feels solid and I felt zero vibration when breaking. The playing cue feels amazing as well. @TheBilliardCorner
@TheBilliardCorner Год назад
Predator doesn't make a full carbon fiber cue (only shaft). I would recommend the Becue for a true full carbon fiber cue. For shaft size, I prefer the Prime M 12.5mm as that has the best balance and hit for me.

What does a stiff cue mean? Is it better if the cue is more stiff or less stiff?
@TheBilliardCorner
@TheBilliardCorner 10 месяцев назад
Stiffness in a cue is the "flex" of the cue. If you can imagine, a cue that flexes less side to side will in turn put that power to the cue ball instead (generate more power because less power is loss side to side). There are pros and cons to stiffness. More stiffness = Usually means more power and easy to move cue ball BUT can be less forgiving because it amplifies your cueing mistakes. A cue that is less stiff = less power BUT is more forgiving if you hit off center. Many cue makers try to find the balance between the two to create a cue that generates good power without being too unforgiving. Carbon fiber inherently by it's material is stiffer than wood. Which leads to increased stiffness and power.

You should do reviews on the rhino carbon fiber shafts .. or the raven carbon fiber pool cue shaft...just to see how they stack up to t b e expensive shafts
@mattevans1643
@mattevans1643 5 месяцев назад
I agree, for the price they can't be beat, if they perform. But even still, paying $200 for a carbon fiber shaft if it can perform doesn't sound bad at all. I ordered a rhino shaft for my cue, i already have a cynergy, but in 10.5 for reasons. So i wanted a bigger diameter tip and decided to go with rhino, cause it was cheap. As an unestablished company and them being from vietnam, i had to give them a chance. There's cues are good looking too, but i'm not a fan of radial pins, or the carbon fiber look.
@mattevans1643
@mattevans1643 4 месяца назад
So finally got around to playing with it. I am very impressed. With it. Gave it a solid two hours of work and it performed magnificently. I didn't test for deflection or any of that, because that's pointless. Just hit the balls and see what happens. Plenty of action on the cue ball, and power draw... yes it does that very well. And it is very low deflection, as most shots i make with my viking, I was straight up just missing the ball, or not cutting enough. I don't know about the tip yet, but so far i would say for $200 it's a pretty damn good shaft. I like it more than the cynergy, but i don't know cause my cynergy is a 10.5 not the 12.5. I got that one for english pool. So it performs a bit different with the bigger balls on a bigger table. But so far my only problem with it is getting a little to much action, as it does way more than my viking shaft did with much less effort, don't have to hit hard at all to get what i want, and cue ball control is very easy. Might stick with their tips cause so far i like it. And i didn't notice much of the tingy sound. Like in this video the 11.8 sounded fine, but the 12.3 was obnoxious. I got the 12.2 and it just sounded normal. Not the satisfying wood sound, but it wasn't gross or anything.
@ranrefael
@ranrefael Год назад
Thank you for the review, even though Carbon shaft has few advantages over the wood when it comes to maintenance, Carbon butt seems like a waste of money, the purpose of a cue butt is to look good with inlays and simple designs those air brushes just look cheap. Don't be fooled by those manufacturers that are coming up with products to take your money, your game wont get any better with Carbon shaft, and definitely not with Carbon butt
