What a lovely film, with lots of great advice. My favourite walk is a little bit along the Conwy river (when it's not in full flood) and I always find something different , Maybe not master pieces but gets me out walking and exercising a bit. Have camera will travel!. can't wait for the next episode Cheers!

Hello Simon - recently I was in the Finger Lakes region of New York and I practiced what you teach about spending more time looking at the forest floor. I got some stunning images. Thanks.

lovely video 🙂 I've been documenting the changes in my local area by walking the same route almost weekly throughout the past couple of years. I walk really slowly out of necessity, so spotting things can be easier. declining health has put a stop to weekly walks for now unfortunately but I'll be back!! I'm always in awe of the changes I see and photograph. I must have done it over 50 times in the past year or so and always come away with something different - sometimes just one image but always worthwhile 🙂 absolutely love the pine needle image - a real contrast to the high-key image and right up my street. the needles and leaves almost look like they're suspended in dark water. A winner 🙂

Greetings Simon, just quick note about the idea of walking our local parks, woodlands. This presentation was nice in that it help remind me of how to revisit those areas, and get a new perspective on trails I walked many of times before. Continue with your channel. I always look forward to being able to watch each presentation.

For once, I am not too keen on the wood floor one; I tend to prefer the lighter, more colourful ones. However, this is more than balanced out by the oak tree with the light flooding through - the way you composed it with the main body of the tree absolutely makes it. I'm looking forward to parts 2-12!

Every time to head out with a cameras there will be "ideal" conditions... but you need to be ready and prepare for the light you get... and as you note the ideal will be different every time you wander any and every trail 🙂 some times I will stop to record a scene, not because I know I might use it, but rather just to engage the brain with the camera, to avoid having my thoughts wander away from photography... just a mental warm up... 🙂 as an elementary school teacher I s=used to have an awareness exercise where I had the kids walk while carrying a mirror at waist height pointed to the sky... the looked into the mirror to see what was above them... and they always had a guide partner to make sure they stayed out of danger 🙂 Your big "Oak Tree" is just a word defined object, in the art sense it is a design elements (line) and the final image is a representation of the map you shared at the beginning of the video... the branches are the trails through the woodland surrounded by the forest/green... 🙂 Sorry Simon I chuckled when you said you were freezing at -1... we will soon be in the -20-30 range on the Canadian prairies😂😂

It never occurred to me how that image represented the map Dave. You should try -1 in the UK. What it lacks in degrees it makes up for in damp. For some reason damp and cold equals horrible in the UK. I never get used to it. I experienced -26 in Finland some years back and it was lovely.

Great project both for changing conditions and and exercise in clearing the mind letting the eyes do the work of seeing. You started this walk going counter clockwise. Are you going to alternate going clockwise and counter clockwise. You eyes will see a different perspective and new finds.
