I, too, have enjoyed using Gen 1 Gyarados' insane coverage. It's also a great answer for Sabrina with its great special bulk and powerful Body Slam to OHKO her physically frail psychic types.
@@itstheman0nthem00n Hyper Beam is super late game and, in my experience, had the accuracy of Focus Blast last time I used it. Body Slam was more than enough.
Recently did a play through of Yellow back in February. Had a lot of fun. My team was Pikachu (Kami), Primeape (Combata), Dugtrio (Holesome), Lapras (Tsunami), Snorlax (Big Mac), and Dodrio (Cerbirdus).
Nice team and video! I love casually playing through old games, despite the "bad/old" graphics as well as all the bugs and glitches it still feels nice and cozy every time. Last time I played through a Gen 1 game was 2 years ago with Pokemon Yellow on 3DS Virtual Console and my team was Pikachu, Nidoqueen, Seadra, Tauros, Exeggutor and Moltres.
Gen 1 Pokémon Blue was the very first pokemon game I played. On the original Gameboy a true classic and it will always have a special place in my heart.
This was a good team and the go to team for Me for Yellow would be 1, Pikachu 2, Charazard 3, Blastoise 4, Venasaur 5, Primeape 6, Marrowak what Ash’s Og team could’ve been.
Venusaur and Gyarados together are pretty much untouchable. That’s my Gen 1 go to duo. It starts to be irrelevant who you add after that. Recently though I dropped Gyarados for Poliwrath and that was fun. Primape is a beast too, good choices.
@MysticUmbreon - I always try to stick to a team of 6, so it would be neat to see a version of this series that can beat the game without having to go to a Pokemon Center to get your Cut or Rock Smash user! I would love to see your take on some best teams for the early games using all HM's/useful moves (like flash, rock smash, dig, etc). P.S. I think it would be a fun challenge for you too, might these are getting easy for you to make 😁 💯
In Yellow recently I used Pikachu as my ace and it knew Thunderbolt, Body Slam, Thunder Wave, and Double Team. I would TWave the opponent lead, then use 6 double teams and then do whatever I want lol. It almost solod the E4 and I had a full well constructed team. Just didn’t need to use them lol
Dude I JUST finished watching your let’s play of leaf green from 7 years ago. After watching the best team for kanto, playing through gen 1, and then watching his let’s play of kanto. I’ll say, this yellow team is leagues ahead of his best team. I didn’t like the best team, but this team seems better and much more fun for a play through of kanto
Great Video!!! Gen 1 will always have a special place in my heart. While I don’t know which one I started with; I remember for sure playing Pokemon Yellow on my Pokemon Yellow Gameboy!! Pikachu was the first Pokemon introduced to me as a kid. Eevee is becoming one of my favourites. While my love for Pikachu will be in my heart; my love for eevee is in the present
My official Kanto team currently consists of Venusaur, Gyarados, Kantonian Raticate, Clefable, Nidoking, and Fearow. I always box Pikachu as soon as I get Squirtle to later use in Kalos, I used to use Primeape instead of Kantonian Raticate before I wanted to use it if I ever get a Switch and Pokémon Scarlet.
Every now and then, I get reminded that some pokemon were good in Gen 1 due to the special stat thing. Gyarados being a good special attacker is one of those times.
I did a Yellow run where I used Electric Types only. Manga inspiration of course. It was Pikachu as my starter, Voltorb with the Brock glitch, Electabuzz and Eevee traded from Gold, Magneton in the Power Plant and I got a Shiny Zapdos in 274 encounters. Out of all the journeys I've done in the past year, this is definitely in my top 3.
In reference to "taditionally using theirn starter" I recommend everybody try a NO STARTER playthrough. I did this in Gen 5 and loved it. I also liked my No Starter run in Scarlet more than my original playthrough.
@jivkoyanchev1998 when you say all the starters, do you mean ALL the starters? Or just the Gen 7 starters. Personally, I love Rowlett and Decidueye and Primarina is no contest the best of the three and the best for a Alola playthrough.
I love playing Yellow. My last team was: 1. Raticate (bye pika... I love hearing the cry when you box him 😅😂) 2. Beedrill 3. Onix 4. Golduck 5. Tangela 6. Charmacut (HM Mule) 6. Electrode No overlevel, I did go for perfect IVs cause... Look at these mons... They need all the help the can get 😅. It was real fun though.
Okay I’m using your Best teams for my Gold play through on a GBA SP right now and I’m simultaneously hoping and not hoping there’s a new one coming out. Currently trying to get Espeon right now 💀
Ok, since we're using trading pokemon. I'm playing hack roms where there are easy access to them. Found this team to be pretty fun, has lots of offensive coverage and can work on any kanto region game. Charizard, Golem, Gengar, Poliwrath, Raichu and Jynx. For fighting moves it's best to use Poliwrath on FR/LG since it has acces to brick break. For psychic offensive, teach psychic to Jynx. You can get Jynx early on by trading in game. It'll lvl up fast and do tons of damage. Plus it does pretty well in usually hard battles. It's a late game team, and requires patience and training, but does so well shredding literally everything.
Not a bad team. Few things: Primeape can also learn Dig and Thunderbolt via TMs. However, though it’s faster than Machamp, its ability to tank hits is weaker. True that Golem is slow, but because of that you can use the Counter move for physical damage done to you. It’s also the only Gen 1 Rock type that can use Fire Blast. Though given its low Special, it’s best to save it as a Finisher. As for Gyarados, remember that due to being part Flying type, Ice and Rock Type moves are more effective against it, and obviously Electric attacks are its true kryptonite. On the plus side, because it association among Dragon types makes it the only water type to use Fire Blast (and Thunderbolt as well, aside from from Lapras). Also the only other way to get it aside from being patient from Magikarp is to get the Super Rod and then fish in the lake in Fuschia City.
I’ve never really made it far with Gen 1 play through but for the Johto region that was my all time favorite Pokémon series. I go with a team countering elite 4 and Red, oooh boy especially Red. Marowak, Gengar, Feraligator, Houndoom, PrimeApe, and a random slot I think I had Dragonite or Electabuzz..
My first pokemon game was yellow and taught Charizard fly which was awesome. I did eventually get red when I got Charizard and could'nt teach it fly I was so confused and furious as a kid, I thought it was something wrong with my game lol good thing I did catch a pidgey for my party.
Im curently replaying LG, with Charizard this time and pokes i always wanted to try. But my favourite Kanto team was: Venusaur, Fearow, Nidoking, Ninetales, Vaporeon, Marowak.
venusaurs razor leaf is not a crit 90% of the time, it is a crit 255/256 times it hits. cool team i dig it. i also like to use golem, that big physical bulk and rock typing resisting all the normal, flying, and poison moves is amazing imo
If I was going to play again in Kanto, my team would be: Venusaur, Golem, Gengar, Starmie, Jolteon and Dragonite. I like all of them, I always choose Bulbasaur as starter in Kanto, Golem is fun to use and covers a lot of Venusaur's weaknesses, Gengar is my fav' mon ever, Starmie is great, Jolteon sweeps Lorelei and Dragonite teaches hard work (you have to wait patiently to evolve Dragonair)
"A Team does not feel complete without using your starter" Truer words have never been said. ...well... maybe with "If it ain't 100% accurate, it is 50% accurate" but not gonna lie, that comes close.
Went straight ash most of my yellow runs with pikachu, charizard, blastoise, venasaur, pidgeot, and depending on when or what I was feeling gengar, alakazam, rhydon, snorlax, hitmochan, or hitmolee
I kinda want to do another run of fr/lg, but I'll have to find my two GBAs to trade. Here's my team idea: Charizard, Vileplume, Poliwrath, Cubone (I just like it), Electabuzz, and Pinsir
I played yellow and my team was Nidoking, Primeape, Dugtrio, Jolteon, Snorlax, and Seadra. I wanted to use these Pokémon so I did. I personally never use Pikachu in yellow.
Fearow is my absolute no doubt FAVORITE Gen-1 flyer by a very large margin. It maybe only a middle-class bird pokemon and it's not fan-famous like Pidgeot is but that doesn't matter to me whatsoever! Drill Peck spam; aerial ace; return; and steel wing all the way every time.
If you don't want spend hours leveling Magikarp to lv20 you can leave it at the daycare and just go up and down the underground for a while until it levels up 15 levels.
I really like your videos, but you've got to stop being indecisive between two Pokemon or two attacks. If you're a specialist, tell us clearly which is the best choice
Bro could u try some more rom hacks and make best teams for them like for glazed ,light platinum, unbound, crown etc those are some classic rom hacks but crown is new in here
What do you guys think of this team? I know I have 3 Flying types that result in 4x weaknesses, but bare with me. Charizard Alakazam Gengar Tauros Gyarados Dragonite
Why are you always using The same Pokemon on Your team??? Clefable, Fearow, Nidoking, Gardevoir and Azumarill… Why has MysticUmbreon become a troll Channel??😢😢 I miss The Old Mystic
Again completely bullsjit videos about making sub par teams with stupid logic If there’s anyone actually wanting to get a good gen one team you just use a safe glitch to get all three starters and literally re create reds team with snorlax lapras and get a jolteon
