Love to see the struggle in your videos, I think it applies a lot of realness and also serves the sport right. Great choice on the Renault, you should get a rearviewcam BEFORE you put the first dent into the nice spoiler ;)
Having twatted many ambulances off other cars, various walls, hospitals, and police officers while reversing, I cannot recommend reversing cameras enough on vans!
Love the Renault ali! I've got a mercedes v250d (luckily got it very very cheap) and tore out the rear seats to make space for the camper conversion - way cheaper doing it myself than getting it pre installed, can't wait to see the new wheels all finished!!
Super excited to see the van progress in coming videos. I am about finished with my own build and remember the excitement when I first got it. About 1/3 through the build, I was really tired and just wanted to be done but now that I’m near the end, I’m really excited about the time put into it! Good luck!
The precision of that up to front at 11:05 is absolute artwork. I would love to see that shot in slowmo. Also cant imagine trusting myself enough to throw my face at a ledge like that. Nice van. We have a very limited selection of vans like that here in the US.
Nice to see a good old riding video. Had a permanent smile on my face. You wouldn't happen to know the centre-of-BB to top-of-seat-tube measurement for the hex would you? Great video as always Ali!
Might be completely unrelated to your particular shoulder/neck issue, but my boss and I used to do a lot of climbing and he ended having chronic pain from under development of the traps and over development of the deltoid and lat muscles. He was able to fix the issue by taking some time off climbing and just lifting. Anyway, thanks for posting and good luck with your recovery!
@@Ali_Clarkson hey Ali, I still have a few of the workouts written out I can get you details through the patreon DM feature of thats easier. I remember generally it was a warm up of mostly just rotational exercises with a theraband followed by a variation on a shoulder shrug, a reclined shoulder press, a kinda strange standing fly, dips and few other things. The exercises were all from the rock climbers training manual and this old dead point media article "the one workout every climber should do"
Hi Ali. I have a great tip regarding pads. Instead of using sandpaper, put some water on the pads and rub them against each other. Flush them with water and let them dry.
Great job Ali. I know your neck and shoulder have been troubling you and it is nice to see you riding with such maturity and realistic restraint. Now after we are past the maturity bits - Great hops Sir! That looked like an easy ~80-90cm / 3 feet vertical hop which seems like a lot to me. I am excited to see your gravel bicycle come together. I have enjoyed watching you bicycle nerd out with other stuff like modifying the Gravel bicycle brake posts and the brake pad episode. Thank you, Wonderful work Sir. and I look forward to your next instalment. Cheers \m/,
I've got the Opel (Vauxhall for you) Vivaro version of that van, 2015 sport version as well. It's like a decent passenger car in van-shape, compared to all my previous vans which were really rudimentary contractor vans which are not built for comfort at all. Great choice!
At 10:30. How much d’ya suppose those concrete blocks weigh? Nice vlog. Liked the active narration. I’m glad you stopped short of injuring yourself on that post!
I had Berner brand before and a few others too. Brake cleaner is usually my go to degreaser for everything (besides isopropyl alcohol). I usually spray a fair amount into the cap then put the pads in there to soak for a while, then when it dried out I also sand them to flat. For the disc, when I am in a hurry, I just wipe it with brake cleaner on paper towel. When I have time for a proper job, I usually take them off, and clean thoroughly with a toothbrush with K2 Akra. That's also my favourite degreaser for surfaces that can tolerate water or can be dried out easily. I also use this for the rear casette (off the bike, disassembled). Very strong and effective stuff. Man, the amount of stuff that is coming out inside the holes in a brake rotor is the reason why just wiping off the surface barely helps.
Love the hack for cleaning brake pads, interested to try it out on my trail bike soon as it’s been feeling a little low on power recently. Hoping for a street ride video on the dirt jumper build soon!
Automotive brake cleaner doesn't contain oil, that's a myth. It's either PERC/TCE for the chlorinated stuff and Heptane and n-Hexane for the nonchlorinated variety. Neither of them contain oils or greases. I think the "it contains oil" thing came from some anti-rust disc brake dressing that definitely is not brake cleaner, and really shouldn't be used on any brakes no matter what vehicle it is. That said, acetone or isopropyl alcohol is a perfectly good chemical to use to strip off any grease too, so no harm in using that.
Wow love the new Whip something different if you go to every single bike park around the UK you’ll find it full of transporters I can understand why it’s probably the best van to convert it into a camper A bit pricey but worth it and as always A glass of whiskey the Jack Daniels is back
@@Ali_Clarkson I see where you're coming from, but it would be your personality and video style that we would be watching it for, not a back box and a roll bar and coilovers! Sure you could get another one :)
3:58 "only recommended for sintered not organic" lol I always used a butane camp stove when I had to burn my organic pads, so I was surprised at this warning... I used my propane torch for the first time to do this the other day... okay NOW I see why you don't do this to organic pads 😂 I am guessing the stove is much less directed heat whereas my propane torch literally just melted the hell out of my pads haha🪦
You could have removed the rotor to safely expose it to fire. Propane torch is what I use, or bake the parts with my pizza. Can't wait to see the gravel bike.
How much of a camper conversion? If it is enough that you'd want to change the registration from commercial to recreational, you might want to research the legalities first. I recall David from Vandemondium saying it changed soon after he built his.
Wanted to ask you when you do rent have you also done 29ers I wanted to know what's the best strength for that type of RAM and what the spokesman when you choose for so many over 400 pounds American wines I don't know how much is that in kilos
I don't suppose you know anyone with a 20" or 24" trials they fancy swapping for a top spec custom BSD bmx? I really fancy getting back into trials but need to sell/swap my bmx but not having much luck :(
I don't want to be the party pooper here but about your neck. I could imagine that al those years of trials could lead to some wear on the vertebrae in the neck. Al those (ten) thousands of drops slamming your head downwards must not be good. I hope it just a muscle thing but when it's not getting any better or goes away I would advice an x-ray.
Dont feel like I am dissing your van, but the Traffic and badge swapped Mitsubishi vans have got a very poor safety ratings. My nephew has a traffic as a work van, he has been very happy with it. Some years ago I had an older model Toyota Hiace, it was my bike and everything else hauler. Only thing it hated was cross winds. I now have a Kia Sedona people mover, as apposed to a van, it is streets ahead in every aspect, as you can remove the seats too.
