Would love to see an updated review on how these wheels are doing? Any downside? How is the climbing..is the weight noticeable? What about the flex when cornering...does the bike feel mushy at all? Would you recommend for a full suspension bike too?

Glad it helped. I'll have more videos coming up with my experiences riding these wheels. Everyone has different wants/needs with their wheels, but I couldn't be happier with my ZIPPS. For about the same price as a set of SC reserve wheels, I'd much rather have the ZIPPs.

Good tip to carry sealant, I like Orange too but just get whatever I find on sale. The advantages of the valve/BT APP air pressure monitor is amazing! I have been dedicated to aluminum rims for the “give” they feel with 3x laced DT super comp spokes and usually i35 width with 2.5 or larger tires(currently 2.6”) I wanna try/buy carbon rims this rear but wider for a 27.5plus wheel set. I’m also building a wide carbon 650b set for my gravel rig.
@hardtailparty
@hardtailparty 4 года назад
I've got a set of NOX carbon wheels from my enduro bike that I put on my hardtail from time to time. They're too stiff for me, and they beat me up. But these ZIPP carbon wheels have more give than any alloy wheel I've found. It's pretty amazing how they work. I've found that carbon rims are plenty strong for my needs, but I only like them with plus tires (with the ZIPPs being the one exception). Granted, I live in extremely rocky terrain, so if I were in the forests of the PNW it would be a different story.
@hardmtnbiker
@hardmtnbiker 4 года назад
hardtail party hopefully Zipp Wheels will update to wider rims. The only rim in i30 width I’d consider would be a 650b for my gravel rig. My hardtail’s are going wider this year. The plus wheels will have i40 or i45 maybe.

Don't forget that air will expand as it gets warmer so be sure to check the pressure before and after the ride to get a feel for the difference. It won't expand much but enough to make a difference on that gauge you have on your phone. If you can, let us know that difference while you are testing out the new wheels. It might not actually be that much of a difference for a bike tire than I think it is.
@hardtailparty
@hardtailparty 4 года назад
I've actually seen more of a difference than I thought. I've seen as high as a 4psi difference between cold and warmed up. It's surprising how much psi changes through the day.
@coolcycles
@coolcycles 4 года назад
Difference, if the tire keeps its volume, is about 0,15 psi per 100m height and 0,15 psi per 1°C (= 1,8°F) [Assumed: starting with 30psi at 30°C (=86°F)]

I think it would be awesome to see one on a hardtail, especially a hardtail as aggressive as mine.
@PissedOffCil
@PissedOffCil 4 года назад
@@hardtailparty Yeah it would be great. I ride a Chromag Rootdown and am somewhat dissatisfied with the Fox 36 Grip2 fork. I can get it to work but not quite as I like it for varied terrain. I'm thinking of trying a DSD Runt for improved small bump sensitivity. A Trust fork would also be helpful to prevent diving on the steep stuff.
@hardtailparty
@hardtailparty 4 года назад
@@PissedOffCil I found the trust shout to have pretty poor small bump sensitivity, but it definitely reduced dive, especially in corners. I'd really like to try one on this bike. @hardtailparty

The rims have been flawless. This is my favorite wheelset I've ever ridden. I had to warranty part of the onyx. It was slipping a little (my classic onyx has never slipped). The vesper also had some side to side play with the end caps that came with it, but they've sent me a new axle to remedy the problem.

@hardtailparty
@hardtailparty 4 года назад
@@ericliebert5260 Will do. So far, the assegai is my favorite front tire. TONS of traction, especially braking. I feel like it's the easiest tire to do endo-turns on, as it sticks to the ground when you apply the brakes. It corners well too. The dissector is interesting. It is taller than a dhr2, and it seems to do a good job climbing as well as cornering. It feels like a slightly less draggy DHR2 to me. More thoughts to come, but I'm certainly going to be running the assegai a lot.

Checking pressure with an app..omg inventions noone needs.. Nice bike anyway :p
@hardtailparty
@hardtailparty 4 года назад
Definitely not necessary. Kinda like how a cycle computer isnt necessary to have fun. Some people like the option, some like to keep it simple. I see the value of both. One really cool feature about the tyrewiz is that you dont need an app once you've got it all set up. The lights on the valve stem tell you if you're in the zone or not. I think the #1 mistake I see people make on their bikes is running way too much pressure in their tires. This could help someone prevent a flat, rim damage, or a crash due to improper tire pressure. That being said, a skilled and experienced rider can get by just fine by learning how to gauge tire pressure by squeezing it.
