+eyeball When my wife and I saw them on tour in '74 Skunk played lead throughout this song, as he did on the record. Even sang lead vocal as well, which was a surprise. Denny's best lead guitar that night was on "Do It Again."
This solo isn't Denny's style. In the words of Walter Becker "Denny never bent a string". He played straight jazz lines which when they were called for were perfection as in his solo from Aja.

no not at all.... I'm a complete idiot. Denny can probably say "founding member" but when he totes "Founder of Steely Dan" it is too far. That's all I meant.
@@johnshaw7328 Denny placed the add in the paper which Fagen and Becker answered and showed up out on the Island to audition. In the words of Fagen, "We basically stole the band, got rid of everyone except Denny"
