My absolute favorite guitarist is Jeff Beck, and miss him dearly. The way you pay perfect tribute to him is amazing. I truly believe that you, Matteo Mancuso, are if not already, the most talented guitarist on the planet. Playing with a pick is definitely limiting, you’ve taken fingerpicking to an entirely modern, and masterful level. I bet you’d still be top echelon with a pick, but please don’t ever stop doing what you’re doing. I equate it to drumming. Every finger is like a limb, and you only use 2 “limbs” with a pick…maybe even one! Love you Brother! Hope you play in Honolulu some day!!!!

Questo ragazzo è siciliano e noi Siciliani, si sa, ci facciamo sempre riconoscere! 😉 Questa tecnica a cavallo tra il classico e il rock, passando dal jazz mentre strizza l’occhio al flamenco (certi fraseggi evocano i “picados” alieni di Paco de Lucia applicati alla chitarra elettrica) … Matteo è assolutamente sorprendente! Chi nel panorama attuale suona come lui? Ok, elencatemi pure tutti gli “shredders” di ieri e di oggi (che brutta parola … trituratori, non era più bello il vecchio, classico “virtuoso”?), da Paul Gilbert a Guthrie Govan, passando per la nutrita schiera di ragazzi sicuramente talentuosi che ci stanno in mezzo, ma quella di Matteo, permettetemi, è innovazione pura! Oserei dire, senza timore di esagerare, una visione del tutto nuova dello strumento dai tempi in cui Van Halen pensò bene di mettere quel “ditino indice” a zampettare su e giù per il manico.😉🤣 Non è solo innovazione tecnica, è un nuovo linguaggio e un salto in avanti nella scoperta di possibilità espressive.
