I had this surgery 10 days ago. I had a 4.95 cm dermoid cyst on my right ovary. My doctor removed both ovaries & my fallopian tube. I felt very blessed that I wasn't in pain after surgery. So far, I didn't even have to take any painkillers. The first 3 days my stomach felt a little bloated & achy but not severe enough to take a Tylenol. Luckily I didn't have any gas pain, only a slight shoulder pain that night & the next day which went away after 15 minutes. I guess everyone is different & I had a great doctor.

I just had a 12mm cyst removed. It started with laparoscopic surgery which turned into a partial c-section. I am 6 days post surgery. Very fatigued, stomach feels like it’s burning and yes like you’ve been punched. Feel weepy and mostly couldn’t sleep on my back and had a hard time getting up out of the bed because of the c-section incision. But I have also tapered off the Tylenol and am now taking ibuprofen. Couldn’t go to the bathroom for 5 days (#2) but drank hot water, ate prunes and took two docelax pills which got things going again. I had dry mouth and I’m still experiencing sore throat from intubation. Lots of things they didn’t tell me might be part of my recovery. I agree drink lots of fluids and walk around and give yourself the time to rest.

Oh my gosh Dianna! I am so sorry! You are getting enough help at home? It is really crazy how they don't tell you much about your recovery process. Mine was really rough! I had no idea that it would be so hard and painful. And in your case, you had a partial c-section so the intensity of your procedure is greater. I hope you are feeling a little bit better. Please, be gentle with yourself. 12mm is a BIG cyst. I am so glad it is out of your body. The worst part is over now! Sending you a virtual HUG! xo

This video is very helpful to me. I'm 66 years old, in menopause for over 10 years. I have been on natural, plant based hormone replacement for 10 years. I was in a lot of pain from an ovarian cyst. I had an injury to my right groin area 10 years ago after doing an intensive dance workshop for 8 days. I was diagnosed with an injury to my psoas muscles but no ultrasound or CTscan to get a better look. I'm wondering if at that time I may have had an ovarian cyst rupture because I was awakened in the middle of the night with an intense pain in my right groin. I was very concerned. But no furthur diagnostics was recommended by my physician. I've been living for years with pain in my right groin area, right abdomen, right lower back. Over a month ago it became so severe that I went to the ER. They told me it was sciatica and said nothing more was needed. I asked them to do a CTscan because I was sure it wasn't sciatica. Sure enough they found a 5 cm. ovarian cyst. I had my surgery 8 days ago. The gynocologist said he could do it on Friday and I would be good to return to work on Monday. Ha!. I really didn't know what to expect. But I certainly wasn't ready to return to work after one week. Initially I felt so groggy, weak and nauseaus. I'm an avid walker and i was able to get up and walk around the yard. The most pain initially seemed to be from the CO2 gas that they had pumped into my abdominal cavity as is standard for this surgery. It was impossible to lie flat as the gas trapped in my front shoulders was just too painful so a couple nights I did not sleep at all. Just passed around the house and sat up in a recliner. I heard that blowing into a straw, into a glass of water every hour could help relief the gas pressure. I did that for one day and it worked. After that I was able to lie flat and get a good nights sleep. After the initial pain killers wore off I was extremely groggy and cried for two days. I could not stop crying and I read that this is how some peope are affected by anesthetic. What helped was that a friend of mine, I'm single, climbed into bed with me and massaged me and held me. That helped me to get back in my body. It's been really hard to be an older single woman going through this. I found your videos and they have been really helpful and reassuring to me that it will take time to recover. The medical staff didn't give me any information on recovery at all. The male gynecologists/surgeons obviously haven't experienced what this is actually like. So thank you. I hope you are fully recovered by now. I am very thankful to have had the laparoscopic surgery. They removed the cyst, one ovary and both fallopian tubes. No cancer was detected.

Oh my goodness! Your experience has me all choked up. I am so sorry and wish I could give you a hug in person. This journey has been so life-changing for me. First, learning to be an advocate for myself...despite all of the medical gaslighting I received from several doctors. One of them was an endocrinologist who recommended anti-depressants! I knew this wasn't the right path and I didn't even know that I had a cyst at the time, obviously. I refused the depression medicine several times as well as getting birth control. Imagine if I accepted her recommendations and my cyst was left undiagnosed?! It took so much effort and prayers to finally find the right doctor and someone who believed me and when the ultrasound was done --- there were my 8 cm cysts with separations and everything started to make complete sense. I am so happy that you kept persisting and got the proper diagnosis. This is the hardest part...recovery for me was extremely difficult too! But, I knew soon enough I would get better. I can tell you to please take it easy. When you need to take a nap, take that nap. When you feel like crying, cry freely. Please be extremely gentle with yourself...because not only has this been a physical and physiological challenge - it has also been an emotional and psychological one too...at least for me. Letting go of all of the memories of suffering is a cathartic process. Anyway, this is a long response and I want to say more... Just know that I care about you and send you good vibes! You got this and you will get stronger and stronger by the day. Our bodies are wonderful creations and we are capable of feeling our best!

I am so sorry to hear this! Do reach out to your doctor. I found that the first-week post-op was the most difficult as far as pain. After the second week, it was better and by the third week, I was much more comfortable pain-wise. Out of all of the surgeries I have had this one (and my appendix removal) was by far the most painful. Sending you good healing vibes babe. I hope you are using a warming pad too - that also helped me with pain.

Thank you for sharing your journey & praise to God for your recovery. I do have 1 question though: Do a woman get a chance of fertility after 1 ovay is removed.?
@bydeborahsavage
@bydeborahsavage 6 месяцев назад
I am not sure if I had answered this. My apologies. Yes, I believe you can still get pregnant if you have one ovary and as long as you are still ovulating and your fallopian tube is still attached and healthy. Definitely reach out to your doctor for clarification. This is a good question and one I asked my doctor. Unfortunately for me, my fertility is gone because it (my fallopian tube) had to be removed to minimize any cancer possibilities.

Thank you for sharing. I am sooo scared to have surgery. I haven't been told i have to but they have advised i do as i have 2 x 8x8cm cysts - one dermoid, one endometrium and 2 fibroids. Ive only had pain flares up 3 times a year and not in lots of pain currently, but they warn about torsion and needing emergency surgery, so its best to have them removed in a planned procedure. Im over 40 dont have children and have low egg reserves. I honestly don't want to have an operation, it absolutely terrifies me. I worry that something could go wrong, might end up having damage to ovaries, pain, scaring, might reduce chance of having children etc. Has anyone tried any alternative methods , or not gone ahead with surgery etc. i really don't know what to do 🙈 thank you 🙏🏼
@bydeborahsavage
@bydeborahsavage 3 месяца назад
Hi! Are the cysts on one side of the ovaries or both? Torsion or the cysts potentially bursting is a concern as well. That’s good at least that it only affects you 3 times a year. From what my doctor said the cysts will only grow larger over time. I did try to use castor oil packs to help shrink them but unfortunately it didn’t work for me. I am so sorry that you are going through this. I would get a second and third opinion from other doctors. I know I felt so much better after my surgery. I was in so much pain and could barely function. Please keep me posted.

Hi 👋🏼 thank you so much for replying. Both 8x8cm cysts are on the left ovary, and a small one on the right. I was told the same but when I first had them scanned they were 9 x 8 , then 2 years ago they had shrunk to 3x 5cm but now they've grown again - I think because I've been very stressed. I'm just worried about risks and if they have to remove ovaries as I haven't had children and I might like to, or at least have the option. I've managed to get a ln appointment with the consultant so will see him next week to discuss. Thank you

@@laurade5594 I'm in the same boat as you. My surgery is a week away. The cyst is on my left ovary, over 8 cm. Thankfully I've never had surgery and I'm so scared. About 4 months ago it started shrinking. All I did different was change my diet, walk 3 miles a day and had alot of people praying. I suggest reading, "Heal Endo" by Katie Edmonds, (F)NTP. My pain is usually just once or twice a month, but it's scary.

my surgery is scheduled in august and i am scared to death. mainly of the tube they place in your throat and the anesthesia. second fear is the gas pain. Did you have any gas discomfort and if so how did you relieve it ? I am having my right ovary removed because of a 11cm cyst as well as my uterus and im assuming the fallopian tube attached.
@bydeborahsavage
@bydeborahsavage 3 месяца назад
I am so sorry that you are going through this. This is a big surgery and I can imagine how nervous you may feel right now. Know, on the other side of this, you are going to feel so much better and start your healing journey. In the meantime, make sure to slow down and take the time to care for yourself and rest when you need it. No excuses, okay? My throat was sore for about a week. The anesthesia was fine. I get anxious about the needles so I had to overcome that. I really didn't have that much gas pain...but if you are having your uterus removed (if I understand correctly) they need to make sure there is adequate air to incise what they need properly. The great thing is your body will know what to do to heal...and it is only with time that the symptoms of surgery will subside. Your cyst is quite big! Mine was only 8cm and it was so painful. I can't even imagine how you must feel. As soon as I felt up to it I would apply castor oil (after any stitches were removed of course) on my tummy and a heating pad (place a cotton cloth between) to relieve any discomfort and pain and it felt so good. I hope my message helps you a bit. You got this! Just one day at a time. xo

I’m so sorry that you are still dealing with this. Do you have an OB/GYN who is monitoring you? If not, I would identify one and see them. Tell them you are still experiencing symptoms and pain and that it’s affecting your daily routine. Suggest they perform another ultrasound to follow up to make sure that you are healing properly. They may also recommend that you have your uterine looked it. I had a uterine biopsy done too to make sure everything was okay. I’m not a doctor but definitely seek help from your physician and consult with them. Keep being an advocate for yourself and find a different doctor if they don’t listen. Best of luck!
