Hey lamb would you mind making a video walking us through how you find a tone by ear and what you look for to match a tone. It'd be greatly appreciated
It's only been in recent years that I've come to love and understand putting together a pedal board. Yours looks like it has all the necessities. Keep rocking, man! Your videos inspire me! 🤘
Chopper , you’re breaking me. I’ve recently purchased a DSL 20 Head, a used 1936 cab, and my EQ from Hell pedal should be here right after Christmas. And BTW , I can’t even play guitar!
I have a sick pedal board for classic rock sorta stuff, but I need to put together one for metal. I just bought the Master Effects EQ...and that thing is siiiiick!
I couldn’t exactly tell, but to be clear, you want the delay/reverb pedals after your noise suppressor. Theory is that you don’t want the noise suppressor pedal to cut off your delay/reverb trails (as they will likely be much less volume than the guitar signal it’s self)
Do you find having the SD1 and the ZW OD redundant? Isn’t the ZW based on the SD1? BTW, I bought the MXR 10-band because of you, other than the blinding blue light, I LOVE IT!
They’re pretty different. I know the circuit is similar but the tones aren’t. The blue lights on the recent MXR eq’s are horrible. They need to dim them down a little or go back to red.
The ten band silver edition has supernova leds , one thing I did was take a black sharpie and just touch it on the top a couple times and rub your finger on it .. just fade it a bit not black it out .. works for me for all super blue leds (Mxr).. just be sparing and go slow till it dulls it down
I was so shocked when I realised you only had overdrive and a boost. All the tones, which are always extremely accurate were actually just coming from the eq pedals and the amplifier's drive. Wow..
Killer video dude, I've been trying to get my pedals set up for a while now I got a cool tone so far but sometimes it's just not right. I'm using a Orange Crush 60 Combo amp and the pedals I got are the MXR 10 BAND EQ, EQ From Hell, Ibanez tubescreamer and a Steel Panther Distortion pedal. My issue is getting the EQ pedals hooked into the FX loop on my Amp, I've watched videos but still im not sure what im doing wrong, but regardless the EQs add good tone to the Distortion and Overdrive but I can't help but think I'm missing out on something better by not knowing how to get the FX loop setup. I'd appreciate any help or advice
Have you ever tried the Ibanez Tube Screamer, either TS9 or TS08? They are green so would match your bird lol. How do they compare to the Boss or Zakk OD?
Ever played with a whammy pedal? Love to hear u tackle some becoming or suicide note pt2!! your channel & your beautiful bird are awesome.. keep pushing dude
Great video mate!. Very interesting. I have yet to get any pedals and wouldn't know what one to get first haha. Always enjoy listening to you share your experience and knowledge. Is there that big a difference between putting some through the front of the amp as opposed to the back?
I know what I have it's crappy but it's all I can afford at the moment... Anyway I've got a question: since I have a free slot in my patch in my multi-effect Zoom G5 pedalboard where should I put an EQ in? The signal chain is: guitar>pitch shifter>wah>delay>empty slot>amp. I wish you could move effects like irl or other digital devices since it's a pain in the neck to do with that pedalboard, but whatever, it's cheap and you get what you pay for. It's almost embarrassing to even mention I have this after watching this beast of a pedalboard, but I'm not sure I would want to have one, even if I had all the money in the world I couldn't order everything in place or even the power supply and all the cables... Seems all complicated and messy to me.
If you want to use EQ to boost I always put it in front of the amp and after any od or distortion pedals. The digital stuff like Zoom takes time to learn how to get the most out of it, but you can get some good sounds out of it. My first multi was a Boss ME-30 and at the time is was great.
@@GuitarsZnuff Thank you. First and foremost, one thing I've learned with that pedalboard is od SUCK. Too much muddy digital aberration (other digital multis have way better od/distortion). Therefore I don't use them. My amp distortion is eons above that shit. So should the signal chain be guitar>EQ>pitch shifter>wah>delay>amp? That pitch shifter is quite weird though, should come first because it makes single notes kind of chorus-ey.
Hey Lamb! I’ve watched a ton of your videos and you’ve got me really interested in pedals. I’ve been able to get such a cool tone out of my super crush 100 so far. I know this is an old video but I was looking into getting a NS-1X noise gate next which seems like an upgrade to the NS-2. Right now I have a 10 band EQ in the effects loop and am looking into getting a parametric EQ. When wiring the NS-1X or NS-2, do you come out of the FX send into the EQs then into the NS-2 Return, NS-2 Output and back into the FX return? And then that keeps the EQs in the effects loop like before and not going into the front end of the amp?
Glad you’re getting better tones mate. Answering your question, you don’t run it like an fx loop to quiet things down. In loads of my videos I show a diagram with the NS-2 running in the 4 cable method. It’s designed to keep the front end and fx loop quiet making a really silent amp no matter the gain. I always placed the NS-2 after all the OD’s and boosts in the front and after the eq’s in the loop. The only things I run after the gate in the loop are delays and reverbs
Hey Lamb, awesome video as always, could you give your view on this pedal....should it go through the loop or the front end of the amp ? Could you explain the difference in both options please ? Many thanks sir
Aren't the delays from the Carbon Copy pedal being chopped by the noise gate? It looks like you have it in the loop of the noise gate. I'm curious how it might sound if you install it between the output port of the noise gate and the return port of the effects loop of the amplifier.
Hi, how would you place the order if you add a wah pedal? Im asking this because my pedal chain is just like yours with the exception that I placed the wah as the first pedal right after the tunner but even though there's the noise suppressor in the chain, I still hear a "noise" due to the wah when it is ON. thanks for everything!! great content!!
Wag’s are funny things and I find they affect your tone as well. Depending where I’m at I have a Zakk wah and it does the same thing. It just seems to pick up interference occasionally. Doesn’t matter where you have it in the chain. I place mine first as well
So are you running guitar cable into the od pedals and holt/6band eq’s then to ns2 input? Then a cable straight from ns2 send to amp input? Also can you lay out exactly how you cable up the fx loop pedals. I have a sd1 and tube screamer and boss distortion and 6 band eq I want to run in the front and a 10 band and master effects pmeq I want to run in the fx( thanks for the heads up on the pmeq it’s a monster!!!) Thank you I’m trying to build my first pedal board and the four cable method is odd to me. Appreciate you and love your videos!!!!
Everything is correct that you said, you just have to trust the 4 cable method works as I show it in the diagram. The NS2 is the last pedal in my chain for the fx loop and front end of you’re just running eq’s and boosts. The second you want to run reverbs and delays in the loop I place them after the ns-2 into the return of the amp.
Just came across your channel and subscribed. I have a question. Do you run both the eq from hell and mxr10 at the same time? I currently run the mxr10 through the fx loop but I would like the option to further shape my tone
Sd10 misuse like you said but the W's okay I'm really old school man I just plug into anything or any guitar I can play a plastic it's alright Buddy guitar it really doesn't matter I'll play a piece of wood with strings on it anywhere anyplace you can quote me on that
Thanks mate! Is it pretty settled or do you chop and change a fair bit? Which od is best as a stand-alone od for low-mid gain? (If you do that sound that is). The ZW seems like it could work on its own and not just a boost?
Hey, what pickup would your recommend for the matk v 25. Ive been useng the emg 81 for a while now but i want someting different. I have a mahogany rhoads v. I want to get the sd thrash factor i just want to hear your thoughts.
Does it matter if the signal being sent from the Noise gate's Send and Output are switched? In my way of thinking the Send should go to the FX return and the Output to the front of the Amp. Does anyone know what I mean?
