✨ About me: ✨
Hi, I’m Zoe! (Pronounced like Zoey) I’m a 26 year old from Montreal making videos about my REAL life. After quitting my management consulting "dream job", then being laid off from a startup job, I decided to take a chance and work for myself. I'm now mainly focused on RU-vid (my absolute passion) and side-hustle contracts in the copywriting and admin fields.
My videos centre around work, gentle productivity, mental health & personal wellness, with a touch of fashion, tech, and whatever else I'm living. My goal is to be open & honest ALWAYS and for my channel to be a fun, inspiring place where we can set goals and live our best lives together. I would love for you to subscribe 💝

13:19 just wanted to note that I also thought buying a car was not considered an emergency, so I felt guilty using some of my emergency to purchase a car after my old car got totaled. I was watching Aja Dangs video about emergency funds and she said “if you need your car for work then that IS an emergency and that’s what it’s there for!” Which made me realize that buying a car (for me personally) was an emergency because I use it to get to and from work and to buy groceries, give my mom rides, etc. it’s ok to have used your emergency fund for that Zoe :)

My goal is to what 'enough' is -- both financially and emotionally. Understanding this helps me invest and save with better purpose while at the same time not feeling guilty when I spend money on things that make me and my family happy. This is why tracking finances is so important!

Zoe, loving the money moves!!! Amazing job! I am also self-employed & this year for taxes I saved $14,000 more than I owed & it felt so good to not freak out about my taxes! The book Profit First is how I made that happen. I think that the money managing method discussed in that book is GOLD! + You'd still be able to do cash envelopes, I do! My financial goal is similar to yours. I want to not be afraid of my finances. I feel like it’s easy to not look at them and let things auto pay without actually having a good visual understanding of what’s happening. The digital tracker would be so helpful to actually start documenting everything and be able to see visually where I am as well as see myself working towards those goals.

Another goal you could add for a longer term is a Maggie emergency fund of $5k so you always have a backup if something happens. I’m working on that for my pup and works as a sinking fund for yearly appointments and biannual med purchases. I also keep any savings above my “one month ahead” or smaller quick access savings in a high yield savings account.

My financial goal is to finally save $5000 for my emergency fund and $15000 towards a house downpayment. I think the cash envelope system helps you tangibly see how much you’re saving/spending. Hey Zoe, really great video :) maybe Transfer Tuesdays could help you with that too? It's done by a couple of other RU-vidrs and they make a short video every week, where they tell what they did to move their money into the right direction that week and most do a "live" transfer. It's an interesting concept and I guess it's for keeping oneself accountable

Just a thing about you using your line of credit to pay off a credit card. yes, a line of credit has lower interest but the line of credit accrues interest daily, while credit card is monthly. so if you pay something on your credit card, and pay it before the due date, you essentially have 0% interest. but if you use your line of credit to pay it off, and don't pay off the line of credit until a few days later, technically you're losing money as the interest is already happening per day
@ZoePritchard
@ZoePritchard Год назад
Yes! I would only transfer the balance if I couldn't pay off the cc in time
@Jetastrumfeta
@Jetastrumfeta Год назад
Hey. I’m wondering why you wouldn’t pay off the credit line (which cost you interest) instead is saving money for emergencies and such. You can always use the credit line for emergencies if that comes up before you save up more money. That way you are saving all the interest from the balance on credit line!
@ZoePritchard
@ZoePritchard Год назад
Hi! I just paid it off for that reason :) But in the beginning, the insurance cost (which was on the line of credit) would have drained my savings and I didn't want that. Although it makes sense to save on the interest, emotionally I wanted to still have some savings.

Not a financial expert but i would say get rid of the car payment I’ve been there before i would say use the 4k to buy a used car then you can free up that extra money from car payment to emergency fund / other debts

Also a new driver here, I was able to lower my car insurance by a lot because of a driving tracker. Maybe your insurance has that too? I think mine used to be 1800€ now it's 1300€ (which is still insanely high for Germany but we're getting there)

I would love to enter!! I want to replenish my savings as well as save up for a down payment for a new car. I would use the money envelopes to make sure I don’t go over my leisure money.

Does your car insurance let you pay it 2x a year instead? That’s what I do and they still give me a pretty large discount, compared to paying it monthly
@ZoePritchard
@ZoePritchard Год назад
probably! but the problem was i mixed up my renewal dates and when i tried to change the payment schedule it was too late 😭

My financial goal is to change jobs and contribute more to my savings. The biggest saving goal I have at the moment is a house fund :) I hope to achieve it when I graduate to buy a 2-3 bedroom apartment with no or a low mortgage. Hope it will work out🤞

1 of my financial goals is to build up to a 10,000$ emergency fund, then start a different account to start saving for grad school next fall. The cash envelopes would help me to spend less money on eating out (oops)

Hey Zoe I was just wondering what company you are with for freelance writing? Have you heard of upwork? I'm not sure if I should start my career with them.

@ZoePritchard Год назад
Hi! Yes I've heard of Upwork :) personally I did not have much success with them but I also didn't put too much time into my profile because I landed my current contract through my network. I would say it's worth a try!

@@ZoePritchard Sure! But my issue is that I have to get a non-US tax form which I am not sure about. Also, I'm kind of not used to bidding and making a proposal. Very confusing! What company are you with? I really want to help my family by having a side hustle.
