WOW, thanks all for the comments. this video has been here for over a year, viewed by neighbors and friends, probably only a hundred or so views until the last week or so. it's winter here now and I usually don't see this little guy from Dec. until April or so. he can't go much further south from here, but I guess he's on vacation!
He’s so cute! When I was a kid my cousin and I had one that we would feed fish to after we caught them. Such beautiful birds! I like the music you have okaying in the background, too.
Wow, very few people develop such an intimate relationship with birds. I don't know if I can get a bird to trust me such as this egret, although we do attract Western scrub Jays with peanuts.
Old video I know but this is amazing! I used to have a great egret where I used to live that would follow me around a bit. I never fed him except for bread every now and again but I chased a cat away from him once and I think he remembered that; would let me get very close and we'd hang out at the same spot almost every day, up until he found a mate. Too bad I didn't have a camera back then, would be cool to share that experience. Love your little egret friend!
They eat road kill and all sorts nasty stuff, rodents, lizards, snakes, bugs, frogs, etc A few scraps of Oscar Meyer won't hurt this little dude's hard core digestive system. In moderation, of course!❤
Hes very pretty. Might I suggest swapping the food option to something that’s better for him? Bologna has a ton of salt and chemicals that aren’t natural for wildlife. Shrimp or hard boiled egg would be a good place to start :)
Hey, there’s a bunch of these birds by my house in the pasture. I like how lanky they are and I want one of those skinny bois as a pet. Does anyone know any way to catch them as baby’s so I can tame it and raise it as my son? What can I feed it if I catch it? And can they learn any tricks? I really want to one I these lanky bois so if anyone knows an answer to one of the questions above please tell me.
Hello! I know this comment is old but I thought I'd reply anyway. Snowy egrets normally eat fish, but are capable of eating other types of meat such as shellfish or human creations as seen here. I don't know if they can do tricks, but most animals seem to understand the concept of action for reward so I wouldn't be surprised. However, I want to remind you that these are wild animals and should never be forcefully taken from their homes. If you happen to find one abandoned or previously rescued, by all means feel free! Just please be respectful and let the wild ones do their thing :)
+Natalie Alford +AA - i will ban you both - Natalie, you are wrong, it is not illegal...i have asked my neighbors son, a field agent with florida fish and wildlife. AA, if you feel you must attack someone on youtube, do so with an intelligent response and without the profanity.
some say this bird is still alive and being taken care of by @kissthechickensfarms (this is misinformation and I'm advertising, there is a cool egret though)
