I've owned a lot of different piranha species over the years. For me, the least skittish were the Caribe. They weren't scared at all, would always get excited when they know I was about to feed them, etc. Then the Manueli, he was also not skittish at all, but not as much as a general swimmer as the Caribe

I keep saying it. This is my favorite of your tanks. The lighting dynamic makes the simple scape pop so much. the lights being brighter on the sides + the lighter colored plants help keep that bright, and the darker wood in the center helps keep the area dark, and then the water refraction. Its just really cool.

Joey, I have to tell you... I'm not a big piranha fan. But this tank is one of my absolute favorites!! The scape is so awesome. The tannins in the water remind me of a red cedar creek. Keep up the great work and happy holidays to you as well!!

That is probably my favourite aquarium in the gallery. I’m a huge fan of black water tanks full of tannins. That’s the route I’m taking with my 300 gallon and it’s really coming along nicely. Merry Christmas man👍🏼

Once of my favorite fish! Merry xmas guys. They actually are great for pet fish. You need to be very patient with them, and keep the lights low. With some patience, they will eat pinkies out of your hand, let you pet and hold them, all that awesome sevrum stuff! For sure they like the dark tanks with lots of tannins. As long as they get a lot of hand in the tank time, they really get used to you. Anyone else ever pet their fish? Is that weird?

10 years ago I got what is considered medium size for $10 each, now you only get fry for $10 each and the mediums around $100 each. I got the fry a few months ago and they were staying in a 125 till I got my 380 gal. built like yours. I had made one about 25 yrs ago when what we had to use was non toxic boat paint to seal it. Luckily after 25 yrs the glass was still in my ex wife's basement ( my old house) and I reused it. This one is bigger and better thanks to your video.

Hi Joey, What an inspiration source you are. :) I'm usually little more into aquaponics with tilapia and such but hey, much of what you share is applicable there also. In fact, hmm, if you could get the piranhas to reproduce and grow fairly well they might be a good candidate for my garage.Would be great to give the tilapias the household vegetable left overs and the piranhas the more animalistic stuff. Anyhow. Great work with the tank (and your channel)!

You should add tiger barbs when I kept them the bigger they got the more skittish they became I had a few get spooked and run into the tank and die but when I kept tiger barbs with them they remained active never hid and they ate amazing compared to being by themselves the tiger barbs always kept them on their toes and they showed a much more aggressive attitude and would shred anything thrown in for food and lived perfectly with the tiger barbs but I started them young

So I already have 15 tanks so your not a bad influence butt I think you've convinced me to get some piranhas don't feel bad they will have adequate space but I love tetras and they're literally super sized tetras and I love the idea idk why piranhas are looked at so much different than cichlids lmao I doubt your piranhas have ever bit you but my oscar sure as hell has🤣

Hey bud, I was wondering something about your piranha's. I grow out and breed ryukin and always have cull fish. I would love to give them to someone who could use the cull as feeder fish. You should see if there are any local people with ponds will to give you their over stock and cull fish. Or if you throw a breeding mop in your koi pond, then chuck the spawned mops in a quarantine tank. After a bit you can toss a fish in the piranha tank and get that "balanced diet". Thanks for giving me something to think about.

Red belly piranha are skittish by nature, the only schooling piranha I ever had that are not so skittish is Caribe piranha and Piraya piranha, your red bellies should get more outgoing when they get around 6 to 8 inches or so in size

I used to have a piranhas tank with 10 fish and I could always put my hands in it and move things around with no problem. Later on I had a red line snake head in another tank and there was no way I would do that with that guy.

Hey Joey, I have a question. I am In the process of doing the internal overflow filter, the one you created for your Oscar aquarium, but I have a 125 gallon tank. Whether it is polycarbonate sheets or acrylic sheets, what size would I need? I measured the width and height of the glass of my tank, and I believe it is 17.5 x 21. That is without subtracting 3/8th from 17.5. Can you or anyone assist with this please?
