UPDATE- I took the plunge and charged the new headset fully last night and it seems to be working fine today so I don’t believe it to be an overcharging issue yet. Fingers crossed it stays ok! 🤞 I just want to say, people here have made some great points and I definitely feel sound is subjective so will definitely consider this more in future reviews, thanks all! 🙏 0:00 Intro 00:24 Overview 00:59 Price 01:26 In The Box 01:48 Weight 02:05 Range 02:42 Battery 03:02 Design 03:31 Drivers 04:27 Bluetooth 05:06 Dual Connection 05:45 Sample Rate 06:05 Dongles 06:33 Connectivity 07:17 3D Audio & EQ 08:20 Chat Mix 08:42 Dolby Atmos 09:22 Physical Features 12:24 Microphone 12:56 Quality 13:59 Adjustability 15:26 Sound- THE FAULT 17:43 Outside Noise 18:40 Music 19:19 Gaming 20:27 Max Volume 20:54 Sidetone 21:22 Conclusion
Don't buy them. Everyone have random disconnection issues. You play a game and randomly get disconnected. It's not easy to conect again either. Garbage!!!!!
Had these for over a week n here's what I think! Outta the the box they're a bit flat but once you dail them in using the PS5's EQ Presets they're a game changer. Excellent battery life, didn't have to charge mine after four days of long gaming sessions. The connectivity to like your phone is a welcome addition, can play both audio simultaneously with no distortion, mute game audio entirely n just listen to your music, take calls etc. Mic is retractable, quite decent and blocks a lot of BG noise. A lot more comfortable than the Pulse 3D's. Controls are pretty straight forward and I like that you can mute from the Dualsense Controller, also change volume and game chat audio directly from the Dualsense Edge controller using the FN keys. Build quality is mostly alright. Cons: Left ear-cup an on/off low pitch tone when the headphones were idle (this should be fixable with next firmware update.) Once in a while would get disconnects from the PS link dongle, unplugging/plugging it back into the PS5 did the trick. (this should be fixable with next firmware update.) Now to where these headphones really shine, The audio quality is simply amazing on the Pulse Elite, the planar magnetic tech' they're using makes a world of a difference paired with Playstation's lossless link audio for some of the best audio separation I've heard on a gaming headset, There's no distortion, I'm hearing things in some of my popular games that i haven't heard before, trust me set up yr 3D audio experience on the PS5 sit back and get ready. This is coming from a long term gamer, this is my honest opinion, if your coming from an older pair of gaming headset, pick these up worth the buy for your PS5! Note: My pair have been performing really good so far apart from the previously mentioned cons, other than that definitely my new daily drivers!
Great review, I like your point on the Bass/sound, this can be a very subjective thing, I got good Bass after playing with the EQ and this is definitely something I should have explained better in my review. Really appreciate your points and I hope they can fix the issue in a firmware update but please don’t count on it as it could genuinely be a hardware issue. 🙏👍
@@ChickenPopGames much appreciated, yeah I'm a bit of a bass head and these do scratch that itch and then some. Hopefully a firmware update helps solve the current issues, if it is a hardware issue will definitely have to get mine replaced.
I want to Best Buy to return a pair. I couldn't get my dongle to reconnect to them. After multiple disconnections. Something that never happened to me with the pulse 3D. I couldn't get. Another pair right on the spot. Because they do not have them stock in the store. So I ended up ordering a new pair. And I will receive it on Friday now. Hopefully these don't go do the same thing. And I don't get that crackling sound in one of the drivers, if it's or ends up being a software thing. Hopefully they fix it with a software update. I really love the headset is miles ahead Of the pulse 3D and those planar Magnetic drivers are amazing and the game changer to merge you into the game. Like I said, if it ends up being a software issue, hopefully Sony can fix it. Getting up to disconnect the dongle And reinserting it in the USB. A for it's annoying.
I have the maxwell now and pulse elite, changed them about a few times and honestly apart from better volume and bass on Maxwell couldn’t tell much of a difference
There's a bigger issues with these headsets that I have not seen anyone else talking about. The headsets build quality is terrible, and I've seen multiple people on reddit showing their headsets all breaking in the exact same area of the headset, mine included.
When the game I’m playing has a change of volume, it makes a metallic crackling noise without fail and it sounds terrible. Re4 wasn’t too bad, but when I’m play helldivers, it’s really bad and I had to stop using them. My friends I was in party chat with even said they can hear it coming from my mic. Makes me even regret exchanging them if other people are having this problem. You’re the first person I found that mentioned this. Cheers.
Me too, Not sure why none of those reviewers are actually talking about the sound distortion and constant disconnections Horrible headset, terrible customer service. Will refund
I don't know if anyone else has the same issue as me. When I move around/walk, the cans rocker is so loose that they click against the headset. It means that the plastic on the back of the cans, hits the plastic of the headset, resulting in constant noise through the device. Literally just moving my head does it. I love the headset, but I can't move whilst wearing them. It sounds like cheap plastic clanging together
@@7nevadaasadly I’ve found no fix other than return them for a new pair and as some have mentioned it’s not a guarantee that you will get another perfect new set either. 😢
Honestly, the Pulse Elite is an amazing headset Superior in many areas to the pulse 3D but plagued with many issues mines are already packaged and on my way to work. I'll be leaving early to drop them at Best Buy on my 4th hour of gaming I experience the disconnection issue. Then I had a hard time to reconnect them back to the dongle. I also experienced the driver popping. So I will be returning these back to the store. I have a second pair coming in tomorrow on my day off through delivery. Hopefully, these are okay. It is the last time I'm going to give them a shot as far as streaming. I sounded fine in the microphone. My viewers told me and like I said, this is the last time I'm going to give these an opportunity if they don't work. I will be returning them to get a refund and wait until they fix this issue or whatever. Then I will get another pair.
Thanks for your comment, Yes I believe they would, they do quite a good job at blocking out the vacuum cleaner in the background so as long as the TV isn’t on max volume you should be fine. 🙏👍
Thats what im saying. The Elites are flying off the shelves everywhere lol. Even the Explorers are starting to pick up steam in popularity since its firmware updates fixed its connecting issues with the PS5
I really do appreciate your comment, my first headset came through faulty and second headset came through ok. As per my review people are talking about this common fault on REDDIT. I actually really like the Pulse Elite, it’s a great headset hence why I’m keeping it. Nothing in the review states it’s a bad headset, it’s more for awareness of the fault to anyone that’s interested. Thanks again. 🙏
@@lukestaschik4694 I have the slim , so there’s no usb A in front so I bought a usb c to an and it still disconnects. Plugging in the back always disconnects every couple seconds .
I’m going to put it up against a similarly priced headset soon to see how it performs, I actually use this headset as my main headset and love it, shame about the issues. 👍
If your head is too big, they clamp quite a bit and due to perfect memory foam seal.... I can hear my heartbeat, bloodflow, jaw moving and so on. So I kinda have to keep using the pulse 3d. It's fine, I love pulses 3d but it's a bit disappointing
I still haven’t seen an update from Sony and I still haven’t received a firmware update since this video. Ile do an update short or something as soon as I hear something. 👍🙏
Thanks for making a video on this my man ! I really thought I was the only one. I'm on my 2nd pair and the same thing is happening with the popping sound and sometimes they will randomly disconnect from the ps5. Would you recommend getting the inzone h9s maybe ?
Thanks for watching. 🙏 Sadly I’ve never tried the Inzone H9s before so can’t answer. I’m going to do some similarly priced headsets against the Elite one day soon. If you can get a good Pulse Elite though then I’d say it will be hard to beat. Can I ask, did you notice the fault from the day you bought it or did it happen after firmware updates or battery charging?
I purchased mine yesterday and i am facing same issue of clicks sound on left side when i move a little. Is it software issue or any fix ? Sadly i am in no position to replace them no option to do that, so if any solution please do let me know.
It’s a great question and something I don’t know, it was a quote from Reddit, what I will do though it try to charge mine up tonight and see what happens as I’ve not changed the second headset yet.
My headset randomly disconnects but really rarely so it doesn’t really bother me Edit: I figured why my headset disconnects. It’s because you have to stick the link correctly
Avoid sonys dongle world BS headsets. I pre ordered this trash and waited in anticipation. Disconnect all the time. Mid June, a few days ago there was an update to both unnecessary dongle, and the headset. At first I was like YES!! finally, I hope they fixed these. Nope still trash. DO NOT BUY THESE!!!! NEVER AGAIN SONY. Sony fan boy my whole life, I'm done, no more of there 3 year lifespan TVs, and no more woke videogames and trash accessories.
I bought the yesterday and sometimes when im scrolling through the ps home menu and opening the ps interaction menu to see messages or friends it makes some weird noise like bit cracking sound is it to do with headset or with an update they fix this? thanks in advance!!
I something familiar to this with my first headset, I ended up returning for a new one, my second headset hasn’t had any major issues other than 2 drop outs over 2 months.
Was experiencing the crackling also (noticeable on the pause menu, but restarting the headset seems to help). Got a new pair today to see if it is a defect- it has crackle also (however it's a tad less maybe cause it's brand new). I have noticed the new pair sound different though- less bass and detail retrieval even though they had identical EQ settings and volume. Sound more average (I've tested both on 3 games so far and have come to this conclusion). I've read on Reddit that units can differ on Planar drivers (Audeze) and there are people that have either less bass, highs or treble. I wander if that's a factor in how these are reviewed also.
Hey man, the Voice / game chat slider on the sound options menu is grayed out for me. How is it not grayed out for you? Note, I am not in a private party, but rather the public chat in call of duty. Thanks!
Unfortunately, that's a feature. You can only mess with when you're in a party. Chat with other players from your friends list. You cannot physically mess with it if you're an end game chat like in Call of Duty, you can only lower the main volume from the headset. Not the chat game mixer to me. It's not a big deal, but it is A. Letdown from the Pulse 3D
@@drober8588 Unfortunately, that is correct bro. You cannot adjust the volume of other players in the chat. For example, when you're playing online in Call of Duty. If you're focused is the game, you cannot prioritize the game volume over the chat. Both will sound the same. And the only control you get is the master volume of the headset. So you cannot prioritize the game chat? Or the game volume within the chat provided in the game. That is a letdown and I might return my pair. Because of that
Great review. I own both the pulse earbuds and the elite. I’ve heard some type of background clicking on the main ps5 home page on both. Not when I moved it around like you said. I’m hearing something different. I think it’s the menu background noise or a firmware issue. Don’t know. In game no issues. They both sound great. Also, PS5 does now support Dolby Atmos. I like the earbuds for music better (switched out ear tips), overall the elite are louder and have a better battery. My pulse earbuds don’t have much battery life when connected to a phone and PS5 together. Probably three hours? Less than the advertised four. I do like the buds for VR and use them as my primary with my iPhone now. They both sound fantastic and very crisp and clear.
Thank you so much for the positive comment and feedback. I will definitely look at the Dolby Atmos on PS5 as this wasn’t something I was aware of. I really like the Pulse Elites, so much so I’ve kept them, I’d love to try the ear buds. Once again your input is massively appreciated. 🙏
I aslo experienced the clicking sound in my left earcup. I think it was the Planar magn. membrane was loose or so due to the pressure it clicks, it is like a sheet of paper so to speak... Anyway I liked the headset comfort wise, Mic AI noice suppresion and the sound. CONS: * I send them back because I was not happy with the Mic sound friends told me I sounded WAY better with my Inzone H9. * The headband imprint on my head with long sessions (i'm bold btw), * The fiddely cups make to much noice inside everything is to loose so to speak, * The 1 button press 8 sec for this, 5 sec for this etc... was irritating never knew what was what BT was on or off weird tbh * I hoped they had a bit more bass
@@ChickenPopGames I messaged Sony support and they said it’s a known issue and to wait for an update that will fix the problem but idk if I should trust it and just replace the ones I got. I’d just hate to replace them and the same issue happens with the next if it’s just a software issue needing an update I’ll wait but if the buttons themselves are messed up I wanna return as soon as possible before I lose my return policy
@@AlvaroContente i still hear it sometimes, i checked reedits and internet did some research what i found it could be the interface of other frequencies like from wifi so what i did was covered wifi router after that i hear it very few. Because of this i thought i should buy the nova 7p after so many good reviews on RU-vid and i did buy it. I will tell you one thing Sony elite headsets sounds different and is better than nova 7p. I tried to like nova but i couldn’t use it. The sound and the image reading is better in elite headset even the base is clean compared to elite. Im usually playing apex on my ps5 and i will tell you it was easier for me to capture the footsteps of my enemies far better than nova. When i used the nova i got confused understanding enemies footsteps and i endup roaming around and getting killed while i was trying to find them.Elite is a 10 out of 10 just wish if there was more base.
About the ambiant sound getting theough. There is a setting called aidelevel, my elite was all the way to the left. I believe this meant nothijg came through, when i out it halfway i can hear myself with low ambiant siund. If i than put it all to the right i hear ambiant aound much more. Perhaps thats your issue. Edit The option is actually called aidetone
Honestly, I haven’t at the moment, I will be reviewing similarly priced headsets soon. If you have more money then you could always look up my Maxwells or Astro A50x reviews. 🙏👍
Thanks for this review, Iv been thinking about getting a head set and this made me want to buy the elite. Think I will wait for you to say Sony has sorted the issues with them.
I haven’t had this fault with mine, although I’m going to attempt to charge it up tonight and see if it breaks it. Ile feedback if I have any issues. 👍🙏
@@ChickenPopGames they are fully charged and i dont charge them till they dont go empty but example im playing and they just randomly disconnect then i have to unplug the dongle and plug in turn headset back on
@@ghostmk3322I understand, it’s very frustrating, I couldn’t escalate the issue to Sony, I’m hoping they know there is an issue now. Sorry I couldn’t help.
I had the pulse elite for 1 day and returned it. Here's why: 1 the lack of bass, there's no bass at all only highs and mids. 2 the comfort, they are uncomfortable and don't feel right. 3 the ratteling noise of the earcups, they are to lose and feel so weak. 4 the random disconnecting, they lose connection couple times every hour. 5 the lights on the headset are in the vision of the player. 6 they don't fit good with the psvr2. 7. No replaceable ear pads. Save your money and buy another headset!!
Thank you for your input, I found the headset was a lot better sounding after EQ, that’s definitely something I will mention in the future. The main thing is that you are happy with them and this is some really good feedback. I do hope Sony sort out the issues. Really appreciate the comments 🙏👍
I think this is definitely subjective, I believe there is adequate Bass for me but someone else may find they need more. I will consider this for future reviews, thank you so much for your feedback. 🙏
The popping liquid noise I had as well, so it’s weird that none of the initial reviews ever mentioned this, I returned them and stuck with my nova pros
