I’ve seen a lot of comments saying that they didn’t sing it as well as Kenny Rogers and I agree but I don’t believe that they were trying to do it better. They were paying tribute to a friend, a mentor they knew each other and Kenny had much respect for Home Free. I think they paid respect to Kenny’s memory very well with this version! I think they knocked it out of the park!

I'm a 45 year old man who's Mom rocked him to sleep to great country tunes such as these. I hear these songs and I'm instantly transported back to those simple days. I love Home Free as well, and I am glad they paid homage to their friend and mentor in this fashion. Also, Gitana and Donovan...HI!! Lot of people are getting hung up in the "They didn't sing it as well as Kenny". Personally I think you are missing the point. I really don't think they were even trying to out sing Kenny, they were trying to take the song and make it more upbeat and I think they did exactly that. I really enjoyed this version. If you, forget that you heard the song before and just listen to this version as if it was a brand new song... It works and it makes you smile. Ya'll need ta relax. Thanks Gitana
Another thing Gitana they are still in Quarantine and are all over the USA. How they were able to get the set to look alike so much is awesome....and they again hit the ball out of the ballpark ! A HOME RUN....great tribute to the Late Mr. Rogers. My ace card was my late wife !!! My soulmate
I was amazed at how they did all of the songs during quarantine. They had a hard time with some of them if you watch the BTS videos trying to look the right way or with Mert in the Middle getting the phone the right way. I think they have done a wonderful job during this time
There’s no doubt that HF holds Kenny in the Highest regard!! Kenny became a mentor / friend to the group! He invited them to appear with on late night TV. Because of bad weather, etc it didn’t happen. After he gave them this advice; He said had a slow rise in his career, but that career lasted a lifetime!! So interesting that his sons teacher originally told Kenny about HF,& then asked them to collaborate on “Children Go Where I Send Thee”!! No, they didn’t sound just like Kenny but performed aa awesome version for their friend!!!

I've loved this song since I heard Kenny Rogers sing it on a Time/Life tape when I was a kid. Home Free did a good job. Their Ace in that song was Chance, my favorite Home Free member and MY only Ace in life is the love of my life. He's certainly the reason I'm alive at this moment, though the hasn't always been...but he is now. With that, I'll quit rambling lol

Home Free did an amazing job with this, but call me old, I prefer Kenny's version. I remember hearing it as teen and loving it. And I'm lucky, I have three aces. My two daughters and my son.
I liked this cover, (Not as much as some of their other work) but again your reaction was delightful as always. Yes it was a metaphor for life, Most Country Western songs carry some broader meaning in the lyrics, Like Keith Whitley's "I'm no stranger to the rain" the rain and storms are bad times in life and how you persevere to get to the better times in life. I enjoyed Home Free's version of "The Gambler", but I love Kenny's original. People who whinge and say it doesn't sound as good as or like Kenny's, they shouldn't sound the same. Different artists, different arrangement. Life is not about cloning, it is being an original, no copies. As others have said it was a tribute to a friend in their own style.

Home Free did great with this song, but I prefer Kenny. It was such an iconic song for Kenny that it's hard for me to replace it with Home Free's version.

If I were to compare the two, I would take Kenny Rogers' version. But then again I am guilty of being a bit of a purest. I almost always lock onto the original version as best. However, there is no comparing the two. Kenny's is done with instruments, Home Free's is not. Taken by itself, the Home Free version is fantastic, and I love it.
Gitana they did a wonderful job I grew up on Kenny Rogers that's one of the many great artists I grew up listening to.
