I work all day on the factory line,
Breakin’ my back, tryin' to make a dime,
But it ain't the boss or the bills that I dread,
It’s that mean ol' rooster waitin’ in the shed.
He’s got beady eyes and a sharpened beak,
Claws like knives, man, he’s a freak,
Every time I pull up in my ol’ Ford truck,
He’s ready to fight, like I’m runnin’ out of luck.
My rooster’s got it out for me,
He’s waitin' by the porch like a mad banshee,
Feathers flyin', claws so mean,
That bird’s the devil in a feathered machine.
I just wanna rest my boots and sit,
But he’s got other plans, throwin’ a fit,
Every day’s a battle, can’t you see,
My rooster’s got it out for me!
I tiptoe up, thinkin' I’m in the clear,
But I hear him cluckin’ like the end is near,
He puffs up his chest, and he makes his stand,
Lord, help me, I’m a runnin' man.
I’ve tried to bribe him with corn and seed,
But all that’s done is make him more mean,
He’s pecked through my boots, tore my favorite jeans,
I swear that rooster’s a fightin’ machine!
