Fun fact, this Chinese chain is known for their above & beyond service, for example I remember from childhood that one of the waitresses literally went out to the convenient store to help my aunt get pads 🤣 since the waits in Chinese Hai Di Laos get so long, customers are offered complementary snacks, teas and even manicures! They also came out with Hai Di Lao earrings (like lotus roots & chili peppers) and even lipsticks 😂
Little known fact about Haidilao: it gained popularity in China (where hotpots were already fairly common) because it used to offer ANY kind of service u needed while u dined. So in the middle of dinner, u feel like getting ur nails done, someone would come and do it. If you need to run errands, someone would be sent to do it while you eat.
Used to go there aaaaall the time in China!! Such an amazing place!!they give you hair ties, and if you’re alone, they put a HUGE teddy bear at your table to keep you company

Omg I love Haidilao! We went there over winter break to have a nice hot pot and the service was amazing. They gave us phone covers to charge our phone on the table while eating, hair ties to tie up our hair and the amazing candy at the end. Their food was sooo good and the sauces made everything better. My personal favorite there was the free ice cream that comes with the meal.😅 (I’m vegetarian so there weren’t many soup bases I could eat but omg I’m addicted to that place now)
your dipping sauce is like how my husband makes hi; he goes for it with all the different layers, and i always make mine simple and end up eating his. we love eating tofu skin and beef tongue in our hot pot, i feel like the tofu skin absorbs all the sauce the best 🙃
I love Haidilao ❤ When we went there on my dad and uncle’s birthday, the staff legit pulled out LED boards that say Happy Birthday and sang the song too 😂 The Noodle stretcher was amazing 🤩 I love his performance but the Sichuan hot pot was spicy 🌶 It burned my lips
I'd totally try your sauce without the cilantro! I have the soap gene sadly, so im not sure what cilantro actually tastes like, but in sure your sauce is great!
I still have an apron I’m “borrowing” from Haidilao from when I used to live in china 😂, also always got to have one peanut based sauce and one herby oniony sauce for the variety!
Have you ever gone to Mala before? It’s a hotpot restaurant with a DIY ice cream bar, sauce bar, and dessert buffet :)) if you can go to one I’d definitely recommend doing it!
Theres actually a saying ~ When you eat hotpot, the sauce is supposed to get less and less. If the amount of sauce increases, then your eating it wrong. I come from sichuan (my mums side anyways) background
I remember I used to go there a lot when I used to live in china and they used to give free gel manicures on most days but on Sundays they would give free face massages and they also gave free toys to kids and sometimes they gave free 3d Bunny's made of yogurt :-)
We have them here in the UK too! Def our friend groups fave place to go for hotpot (also usually one of the few places that have space for 15+ people). Sauce bar is still free here as far as I'm aware. Their service is also really good

Oh god I was at Ha Di Lao last tuesday and it was golden. Too bad I didn’t get the sauce but every dish that I picked is absolutely top notch. Will come back again sooner
I’ve always wanted to try hot pot, but my mom says I shouldn’t go because it will just end up raw. She’s probably right, I have no sense of time management and will probably either burn it or undercook it. Maybe I shouldn’t go but that looks super good you’re an amazing cook!
actually, the haidilao restaurants in america are the same in the sense that you also pay around $3 for the sauce bar :) also, i've never been to an asian restaurant in america where i was ever charged for individual sauce lol
