Here you can see how to combine a shop vac with a cyclone. It is a KÄRCHER WD6 shop vac I combined with a small cyclone. It truly changed the way I clean my workspace, a must-have!

I need good some suggestions on how to make it more stable to prevent it flipping over because of the added hight. How would you fix it?

Hi, first of all: I just came to this video and think, it is a great approach! Thanks a lot. To reduce the danger of flipping, you might increase the weight of the bottom parts. A thick metal ring around the collection bucket, some stone between the four rolls below the collection bucket... This of course will make it heavier, however, this machine is primarily not meant to be carried, right? Thanks again and best regards from Bavaria 🙂

Easy, use it for sanding concrete and it will naturally get much heavier on the bottom :)

How about adding weight to the base, like maybe a 1cm plate under the bottom? Another option - and a lot more work and expense - would be to make a new version that uses a low-profile separator. That would allow collapsing down the assembly by quite a bit and helping with the balance issue. That said, if you're happy with it as-is, I vote for the plate weight solution.

I really like the small footprint.

To prevent damage when you flip it over by accident, you could make a wooden ring that sits around the four legs in the middle. So it will flip on the ring and wont break the engine part

It looks like it is full of sawdust, but you said you were originally inspired to make it after sucking up concrete dust. How well does your design work on finer dusts like concrete, plaster etc?

It work very very well. Only a weak ago i had to cut up my concrete floor and it just sucked it up like a champ :)

Ive got a similar setup, and the fine stuff still gets through and eventually fill up your filter. The difference between my 1st and second versions was easy access to both chambers. It's still worth it 3X. Just dont expect the cyclone to get everything

Do anyone know the cost of materials for this build?

Kanonvideo!
