Rider should be invincible during bike, make the bike shorter, they should give him a meter that builds up to activate the bike, and give him an additional skill.
Bro rider is a cool skul but the bike goes crazy fast and it's hard to control, and if you fall on spikes or trap it hits you like make him invincible and let me cancel the skill too
The thing with the spartan is that his parry is a "basic move" and not an ability (when even Shield himself doesn´t have that), in a game that is heavily centered about dodging. It enables you to play the game in a completely different way: hard to master, but potentially amazingly satisfying results.
@@senounatsuru6453 I don´t think it´s quite the same: Champion is guaranteed to evade the attack if you miss the "parry", while Spartacus has to time it right
i'm so glad that there's people that love just blitzing through rooms with Ninja. yeah, he's a really weird and hard skull to use at first, but the minute you realize that you're accidentally mashing every button on your controller to use every single skill on-deck, you realize that Ninja thrives within chaos. One of my favorite skulls next to Berserker, especially due to him enabling my dash mashing tendencies, same as Pike
My favorite part about King is the fact that the best strategy with him is to get behind an enemy when there is a window where they can't attack you and kill them in a heartbeat this sounds familiar dead cells players
The way I play Gargoyle often gets me hit because I'm sitting there trying to slash at the enemy mid air, saving my dashes for air time boosting. Despite ostensibly being one of the most mobile skulls in the game, I play him like one of the least.
I think that's how he's meant to be actually. The floaty, wispy mobility is is more for puzzles and clearing stages than bosses. His Lazer Gaze thoooo, that thing melted some bosses for me with the right positioning
If beelz were to also make a dark abilities tier list the first one would be a "Silent cries tier". Also Yaksha's special form actually deals way more dmg than your average legendary with almost no dmg items, it could actually be a heavy nuker with a good dmg build.
I agree with Yakhsha, my first one shot boss came from him on Ent. Is it worth picking up an "early game" skull then swapping it out later? Not counting skulls you have to upgrade since they would be too weak by e"late game"
Glad to see your thoughts Beelz! While I might disagree about Yaksha, I think that's the good thing about this game, which is that everyone has different playstyles and thus feel that different skulls are better than others, since we all play so differently, so our preferences and perceptions of what's best also varies. But other than Yaksha, I think all the placements are pretty spot on!
Pretty much. What I said towards the end seems pretty true. Most people can and will use these guys differently and will have varying degrees of success. Some hate Ninja and Champ while I like them. But I'm not a big Yaksha or Garg fan.
@@Beelz55 Right you are sir! Happy to hear directly from you, in the same way, I'm terrible at Ninja and Champ, so I just can't ever enjoy them, but I know others who are amazing at them
i recently went and picked the game back up with the mythology update and have beaten mirror 10 after a while and that taught me 2 things: a - warlock is now insane due to how revenge works as an item insignia b - i can now play my favourite skul without dying in the process of charging a meteor ^^
This was so anticipated I was so sure it would come out on christmas. Favorite skull? Little Skul. Love when that boi shows up. No for real theres quite a few, but Alchemist always gives me the best feeling of 'this run is gonna be so chill'. Just sliding around while your beasts create chaos around you. Just vibes!
What this list proves it not only Beelz personal preferences, but almost every skull can make your run possible. In that sense they all has so many possibilities, and with playing the game you will gain knowledge which makes you runs easier, beacuse you understand the skull.
I will always have a special place in my heart for Gene. He was my first win with a rapid build and I could'nt thank him more for that. But my favourite would be Reaper since hes very strong and he has this special kind of umf to it.
Guan Yu just needs 1 change to make him better. At legendary his 4th unrivaled strike needs to be invulnerable, the normal ones stay the same. That one change makes him an A tier minimum yet doesn't make him too OP.
I still have a screenshot of your other skul tier list. Monkey's abilities should be done by clones with an enhanced cooldown until you run out of meter & he should get a cloud triple dash like ninja gets log triple jump
BEST ending 😂 My fav used to be Samurái, but now Herc and Reaper are the skulls I almost always use if I found them. Sadly Im not too good with champion, cause IS amazing if you are good at the game.
My favorite skull? That's a tough one. Four way toss-up between Warrior, Frost, Hunter, and Ghoul. If I HAD to narrow it down to just one... ahh... I'm wavering between Hunter and Warrior... I choose Warrior. He's the full package. He's got raw power, great defense, and the way his immunity slows everything down followed by those big, meaty hits feels absolutely cinematic at times. I remember fighting last phase hero shortly after warrior was changed. I charged Final Strike just as the First Hero was doing his beam attack. It was like the world was holding its breath as Warrior immuned through the hits and delivered the coup de grace. Just fabulous. Ghoul can carry me through anything no matter what, I adore hunter's playstyle of zipping around looking for windows to unleash massive Multishot and Piercing Shot hits, and Frost has huge amounts of control to create his own damage nuke windows and slow bosses to a crawl. But Warrior has more STYLE
in the beginning of the video, about what you said about people being for some reason interested in the opinion of others-i think that makes sense; the way i see it, it is an extension of the instinct to socialize, and many commenters want to be acknowledged by the ones they comment to or by other people, and many content creators seek the acknowledgement of the ones they share the content with; it is difficult replying to a video or making content without seeking the thoughts of others- and some videos, such as this one, tend to lean into the idea of showing others your thoughts, of seeking their desire to know and acknowledging their need
Can't wait to be perfectly content with all of those placements Edits: Reaper is incredible, but you can only access his huge damage if you get him early in your run. That doesn't make the skull worse, but that definitely holds him back from being the single best skull in the game. Same with the King, that's why I think Heracles is number 1. I understand the Samurai placement, but after one-shotting Alexander on HM8, which, admittingly, Alexander has no health, he's really grown on me. Skul Dimmadome needs to be a bit higher, at least for me. He's one of the best secondary skulls in the game, just blast off all of his mana and you're good. That's also how I use Alchemist, just blast off his golem and his flasks and swap back. I found it really hard to use Thor because I am a very ability-heavy player, and he really likes to attack, but I've also not had a good run with him yet. I think Gargoyles biggest weakness is that he is limited to 3 dashes per being airborne. If he had regular dashes along with his floaty mechanics, he can work incredibly well, but it doesn't feel good that a skull that becomes stronger the longer he stays in the air has to land to reset his dashes. Also, his down-attack is really garbo. Ent is incredible against bosses, but his room-clearing is kinda awkward. Yes, his fists have really good area coverage, but he has to set-up his grass and that's, at least to me, pretty hard in crowded rooms. Also, perfect Clown placement, he utilizes every single item in the game, pot of greed, the ring or fulgent dawn are double as effective on him, his only problems are that his highlight skill until legendary and his swap are kinda doodoo. Damn, there are a lot of skulls in this game.
My favorite skull is Hercules because he helped me get my first dark mirror win but also just an insanely fun skull to play with on the less overpowered side of things I think that my favorite would have to be werewolf his beast leap skill allows him to go zoom zoom fast which has you feeling like a madman on the screen I like this list a lot and it’s lead me to try out some different skulls with some new builds!!!
My favorite skull is either Reaper or Herc, grabbing dudes all day everyday is stupid levels of fun but so is melting bosses health with a suped up reaper or just watching everyone die to harvest. I don't think I could pick one over the other, they both do fun bullshit for both sides of the damage spectrum.
My favorite build is warlock ninja. Just yeeting around then dropping the big meteorite ability and wiping out an entire room then straight back to zooming around, till the cooldown is finished.
If I can be honest, I feel like some skulls get carried by certain abilities or combinations of abilites they have and if they don't, they're only alright; like Archlich before deathtrap became its own thing. The two major examples to me are Gambler and legendary predator, the wheel is so damn good and doesn't keep you in place and pred without hack AND either throw prey or whirlwind can easily turn into a sitting duck.
Level 4 Mage with Explosion shreds bosses if you stack Magic Damage. Pop the infinite charge, stand next to the boss, and hammer the Explosion button until it's dead.
I would say this is as uncontentious as it gets in regards to a Skul tier list, but that would just show that I am both biased and ignorant to how the world works! Speaking of things that happen to be contentious, my favourite is Champion! I never get tired of good ol' pugilism and the noise his punches make are just so statisfying. Now I know not everyone is a fan of him and I definitely wouldn't mind some adjustments like his swap giving him meter, but I do think he is in a comfortable spot! Except for only appearing when I'm in the middle of a magic build unless I rig it ... Oh and just in case the devs happen to somehow come across this: Champion is godawful at a fundamental level and seriously underperforms, he needs help!
I might be biased but my first win on normal (way back when) was with fire flask alchemist (pre nerf). Ever since then he always had a very special place in my heart and stays one of my favourites (with lil skul!)
My favorite has gotta be Legendary Ninja! I build it with Soar and go full on basic aerial attack and just zoom through every room, it's insane and SO fast
Just cleared my very first NG+ (lvl 0) with Gargoyle running a full spirit build with ease (got both Shade and Lou on second biome), I agree with its position on the list as I was *solely* carried by my spirits
Looking at the full tierlist, I’m surprised we never saw an endoskeleton-themed skull. Maybe with eye lasers, a cool energy sword, and a shotgun (for the movie fans). Maybe have the skills have multiple uses, like Predator, but when a skill comes off cooldown you refresh the maximum amount instead of just one at a time. Probably make him a slow boi like Mummy, with an inherent damage resist because it’s a metal robot skeleton instead of an organic one, and that resistance increases as you go from rare to legendary.
I would argue that Mummy belongs in A tier for three reasons: first off it is very easy to make him do stupid damage. I've never had a mummy run where he isn't doing insane damage. Even the AK-47 you mentioned still does good damage, just not quite as much as his other guns. This is partly due to the second reason: he hits incredibly quickly. Most of his basic guns fire really quickly and many cause multiple hits, making him insane with anything that activates on hit (somewhat similar to water skull). He can even make good use of invisible knife and gunpowder sword without any crit rate buffs because of how often he hits. The third reason is just how safe he is. Because of how much range his guns have a lot of his enemies will die before they even show up on your screen. The only reason I wouldn't put him in S tier is because of his slow movement speed and his hybrid nature.
44 skulls? I thought with all the new ones there was like 132 skulls now, are you considering all the different rarities of the same skulls as one? Im pretty sure southpaw counts each of the different rarities as seperate individual skulls so its kind of confusing, considering they have different stats, abilities and switch skills i can understand why some ppl counts each rarity of the same skull family as individual skulls
I'm only accounting for each Legendary or finished skull you can find. Southpaw counts all the rarities because quite a few do play differently during the different stages of evolution. Most of the playerbase however just count each skull as its own individual that can be upgraded. Also makes it easier with tier lists so I'm not listing 100+ skulls.
With warlock it made the boss fight really easy when u get him maxed with the meteor ability drops multiple meteors and a giant one at the end and melts a bosses health bar
Haven’t played with the mythology boys (I’m on switch) but I agree with 90% of the tier list, haven’t really figured out werewolf or pike but I’ll take your word, I’m a MASSIVE champ enthusiast and I agree with A, dark paladin is b for me, he just feels clunky and half the time I get his shield I get hit immediately and lose it which is kind of a skill issue but I’ve beat dm 10 there are plenty of skulls the mitigate skill issue
For me, Mage is higher because he lets me focus on dodging while pretty much passively dealing damage. Several boss fights pass with me just firing orbs, letting the Golem do its thing, and before I know it, everything is dead! It may be boring to Baelz, but I suck at the game, so not dying is more than enough excitement for me.
Ugh, as a Playstation owner, I'm checking for the new update just about every time I have a chance to play games, has there been ANY word on when the dlc will come out for console?
Also newbie on PS here, abt 20hrs in and on Dkmirror lvl 1. Tried run with Guardian Commander and died at dad’s 2nd form. Got him to about 20% health…. Lvl0 i had water boy Poseidon with reaper and was OP without effort. Guardian Commander any recommend inscriptions i should focus on? Did follow ur suggestion based on the Ghoul video.
Try to focus on at least one of either Antique or Fortress with him. Then if you can Revenge to at least 2/4. Everything after that will probably need to help boost his damage potential. You can use his skills and hold his attack button down to fully concentrate a big slam. Mashing his attack works alright as well, but you'll have to be quick to dodge. For quints there's a lot of good ones but if you can get a hold of Slime it'll help a ton. Otherwise most good physical quints or utility ones (Wisp, Medusa, Succubus for example) will work. If you want big damage from your quint then Suonisio or Shadow Knights helps.
can you go over the dark abilities aswell? Sometimes I have a hard time choosing which ones would benefit me more, especially the cursed ones. Also because the wiki doesn't get updated and it doesn't have any of the cursed dark abilities or even every normal dark ability
I technically cooooouuuulld but it would be pretty boring. Honestly the best dark abilities are only a handful with the rest being fairly niche. Silent Cries and Collection Desire are both S tier. Cooldown reduction is disgustingly good on 90% of skulls. and Collection enables you to quickly gain ramped up damage especially earlier in your runs before you've got a full item set and upgrades. Super Baby, Extra Life (forgot the name), Weakness Exposure, Go-Getter, Predicted Pain are all A tier. They work in most builds and just make things smooth. Weakness Exposure is preferred on builds that hit the enemy more frequently so slow boys like Warrior skip it. Go-Getter is for item builds like spirits, gunpowder, invisible knife, manatech generator etc. All of the other dark abilities are mostly a case by case selection. Piety is a Ghoul pick. I rarely ever take it on a build other than Ghoul, but with him it's a must have. The cursed dark abilities are also a bit seneitive. You *can* take some of the double edged sword ones like Coward but that comes down to whether you mind not seeing. Generally ones like Withered Hand, Weakness, Melanophobia, Infectious Disease and any others that affect your aw damage output (preferably with a damage amplifier) are good takes. If you're doing a status build always keep an eye out as the corresponding curse is almost always worth it. But with that said all of the dark abilities *can* be used. I just tend to stick to what works because DM10 can be ruthless if you make a few too many mistakes. Experiment around at level 0 and see what's fun for you.
Warrior Everytime even pre buffs. He was my first win and was my 500th he's the best. Living Armor then Yaksha to round out my top 3 favorites. I just love power skulls to bits.
Werewolf is a weird skull for me because I can reckonise he’s good but I can not use him well to save my life so if you have some tips cant you please tell me
Where would u put dominator because personally I would put him in between S and A as his madness form makes it very hard to see the enemy even though it deletes its health
17:07 Ironically enough I just got my first win with Shield Skul the other day. Stocked up on fortress items and kept spamming his skills to always have a HP barrier
Newbie on PS here, recently I've gotten a while in using Yaksha and I personally have to disagree this one time. For one reason aside from it just feeling right to me: Prep time. Sure he's slow. Sure he's not good at first. But His charges are dependent on your skills. Not concentration, not regen, just skills. You don't need to hit anyone to gain charges so what I do is, I pack a secondary skull to supplement the slow damage, and a couple skill cooldown reductions. Every time I enter a new stage I usually go to where the most enemies or the scariest enemies are, pop the Domain and.. oh god. I cannot tell you have many enemies, adventurers and bosses I've torn to shreds simply because of Rakshasa's skill buffs.
He works well enough initially. And in Normal mode runs he's perfectly fine. The tier list unfortunately is taking a look at the overall picture. He kind of falls off the end of the world damage wise once you get to higher levels of Dark Mirror. His best build without a doubt revolves around cooldown reduction though. You ideally want him to spam so heavily he stunlocks his enemies in Rakshasas domain. But the damage will be very low. Most other builds he falls apart if he can't kill his enemies in his first domain.
Makes sense in that context. My favorite overall use though so far is boss shredding. It's rare to get him early but when I did, I don't think the early levels were prepared for the level of destruction. I can see why it kinda falls off though when Dark Mirror is considered. I need to unlock it myself to see it tho.
Beelz: this is MY tier list, with MY opinions *repeats 100 times* Me: okay so this is the official Skul tier list, I should screenshot and refer to it when I play. p.s. can't wait for the our moms tier list
Grave was my favorite before they changed him to hybrid and changed his summons because you have to use his basic attack to be able to summon and when your summons are on cooldown you don't get to do damage and you just watch the game play itself, I want to fight with my summons but after the changes I can't play him anymore, which suck because he was the skull I first beat the game with
54:30 LMAO you can actually hit the downed adventurers with clown’s air attack and they’ll sometimes survive somehow. I think that attack literally does no damage and is only a vessel for item attacks and his magic damage burst
B probably. He hits the whole screen just fine but has 1 move. His dodge is cool but it's a single dodge and can overshoot sometimes. Hard to dodge when you gotta thread very small gaps like dads lines over the screen etc.
Been playing this game for about a month and I love it, I love trying out all the skulls and messing around with items, but man, as a newbie, I must admit, I once was extremely lucky with a Berserker build, actually reaching the 3000 damage threshold by the end of the game, and man I was hooked ever since, but to be honest I would understand why he’s as popular as he is, he is a very newbie friendly Skul, but also takes away from learning the game and the bosses properly, I mean come on, you can’t really learn a boss if you’re nuking them in like 2 seconds, also, with some items, I find predator to be an extremely OP support skull, just like you would Palladin, also while he isn’t a very safe skull to use, with right items, his across the screen slash becomes an umpawumpa for clearing maps almost instantly, I would say with predator, getting about 500-600 damage by the end of the game with good cooldown on his abilities almost makes up for it, but then again, I love this guy as a secondary skull, just swap, passive, span abilities, swap back to main, do yar thing, then back to predator and on on, man so much fun.. oh and Samurai sucks ass, no matter how much you try with him he just seems to like being a dick
Hey @beelz! I watch your stream when I can, (ahkneeyo) but I watch this video of yours the most so I can try different skulls based on your ranking. I did a gimmick frost and mage (ice/fire) because I always thought mage didnt look very good but with succubus I was doing more dmg than I have ever done haha.. I lost the run at Alexander cause I suck but would like to see you do a mage or hunter run if you have time because I've never really seen many of them!
You have to unlock him at the Grave Robber NPC. If you've never found him before he sometimes appears in the shops, on the platform upper left, just above the chef who makes food. You have to pay dark quartz, but he unlocks new items and skulls for you, including Davy. I believe he costs 5k quartz. Everything unlocked through him is linear so there's no random chance, you just have to keep unlocking from him until you get Davy. But because of this you can plan what run you want to use him. Whatever the Grave Robber offers will say there until you've chosen it (including the skull). So if you're on an excellent run and the guy appears, you can grab Davy and have a good time. If you're already on a magical run or a bad run, you can skip it for now. That way you can avoid RNG. But once you've unlocked something from the grave robber, that's it, it's now part of your overall item/skull pool. You'll eventually get everything from him. But be sure to focus on maxing out the Witch talent tree first as those passive boosts help a lot.
@Beelz55 thanks for the information beelz I've gotten it in the dark mirror lost the run but then I couldn't find the dang for a while after but then found it thanks for the long advice man 👍
The only skulls I was able to finish the game with so far are ent and GARGOYLE YES, I just made it. He's good actually, You just need damage reduction while in midair, take laser eye skill and airblast that pushes away enemies. I got lucky and was able to obtain two copies of the mage hero's item, so when I went laser, I was just spamming fireballs everywhere. I was able to beat the final boss, with my 20% hp remaining. I was killed during the run once tough.
that makes me curious... who would win between Hercules and Werewolf? 🤔 because once Hercules gets his grabs going, Werewolf can struggle; however Werewolf is hard to hit, many of Hercules's grabs can miss-
I've used just about all of them, just haven't done videos for them all yet otherwise it would take something like... you know... 44 legit videos to show every Skul at least once. We'd be waiting a while, assuming 1 video per day, also assuming I don't have gaps with other videos or need breaks here and there, or just skip days.
I had an item that gave him an extra dash and damn it is nice on him. Also Guan Yu really benefits from attack speed I’ve noticed, his range honestly also helps him avoid some of the hits he might struggle with.
I really hope they keep updating this game. I’ve been thinking about some skulls that would be really cool, some of the main ones are: An electricity based skull A goblin skull, maybe has a mechanic with gold Maybe could even have one to do with (SPOILER) dark skull?
Still waiting on the new dlc and update for the ps4 version, been playing on ps5, love the game but if I knew there was more content coming I would have waited, I like to start games when the game is in its complete form with all of its dlc and updates, there are a ton of good roguevanias on ps5/ps4 now with games like astral ascent, blade assault, bravery and greed, dark devotion, dead cells, dungreed, exit the gungeon, fury unleashed, helvetti, neon abyss, rising hell, rogue explorer, rogue legacy, rogue legacy 2, scourgebringer, source of madness, summum aeterna, trinity fusion and xenon valkyrie+, and these are just the ones I've played along with skul
I don't think there is any way to save gargoyle or rider. The only ones that need a little help is mage and yaksha. Everyone else are kinda fine, maybe a hunter boost would be good too.
I enjoy hearing different opinions, like for me demi-god is S tier just because of his potential and how unique he is. In the DLC I would put him second only to the Absolute. Because like, yeah, you really can't compare to i-frame grandslams.
Nah the mage has some CRAZY growth potential. Use the mage with the manatech and then you will never run out of mana since it refills it. Combine that with any magic boosting abilities and skills that activate anytime you use a skill and you become a GOD. Theres that one skill that makes a fireball thing that shoots out in a bunch of directions every time you use a skill and if you spam that shit you will take out every boss in like 5 seconds no joke.
