My Smock 3 point check list 

It definitely does have more of a civilian flare to it. I'm currently testing out the Varusteleka Recon Smock, plus I'll hopefully have one of the B110 Smocks from Arktis too. I think they'll be right up your alley Kevin 🤘 Thanks for watching buddy

My observation too. Moorlanders smock is too formfitting. Need at east two sizes bigger.

Nope, I think the smock is perfect size for civvy life. Don't need to get any kind of chest rig or belt kit under it. Too big and it just becomes a pain in the arse wearing like a tent. The air gaps are too big and act like a bellows expelling warm air and sucking in cold air. For civvy use amore normal size able to fit an insulation layer to further regulate those air gaps is perfect, plus it needs to look good and well fitting for everyday use as opposed to purely mil/ field usage.

How has the sizing of the smock compared to the Pilgrim please?

​@@tomtomtomone I have a UK medium in the Pilgrim, which is fine for me. I am a slim 6ft 2in male and that size allows for other layers....just. I have a lightweight down filled jacket which works extremely well, with sweater/ fleece, under the Pilgrim for colder days. In spring/summer, it's a perfect size over a shirt or lighter jumper and gives more room for ventilation without being baggy. The 'SAS' smock I purchased in a UK Large. It comes up reasonably small and is not baggy or loose, but a good neat fit. I can wear it over a fleece or the down jacket, for added warmth, and it has already worked well like this during the recent cold snap, as a trial. However, it will really come into its own during the spring and summer, as a lightweight jacket to take on canoe camping and woodland trips. Worth noting it is shorter in the body than the slightly smaller sized Pilgrim, so if you are large framed or want a long back, go up a size or two. The draw string waist and hem are nice features for getting a practical and stylish fit, allowing for layering. Hope this helps...😊

IMHO, the inner pockets are not actually pockets. Those zips are there for ventilation me thinks.. The mesh liner makes more sense this way.

@@georgekamarineas7741 I tend to agree, although to keep it cheap to manufacture (always, always cost cutting with all these things!) they have attempted to make it multi- function so they could be utilised as basic pockets as well. Overall, it's an 'ok' smock which is well made and looks nice. It will certainly be great in mild and warmer weather for those days with just a shirt or chilly spring and summer evenings with a sweater. It's just about wind proof enough for those breezy days if you are not sitting for long periods in the open. As for winter use, if this is your only choice, go very large in size and layer up. But there are MUCH better options for winter! I bought this to wear with an Austrian army surplus wind/waterproof fleece jacket under it, or as a stand alone fair weather jacket, which it does quite well. I could have possibly gone a size up to be really comfortable with adding layers, but I already have other jackets and smocks that do it better and are wind proof and waterproof too! It has a place if you like having several different options, but if you are investing as your main smock, I would shop around and look hard at other options first, especially good quality military surplus kit. Quite a bit of Austrian kit was retired fairly recently and is excellent quality if you can track down stuff that has not been repaired or done more than it's fair share of miles! The combo of the wind and waterproof fleece jacket, with the poly cotton field jacket and the goretex waterproof is a tough one to beat. If you get the sizing right, you have all seasons covered with bombproof quality kit that is not so precious that you can't actually get out there and use it properly. Plus, it's still ok around town. Non camo, which is a plus, but still a nice muted soft olive green/ grey.

@@James-id4ht from what I understand there very similar. Parva spray isn't as strong as most pepper sprays (British criminals have much sensitive eyes and are proun to complaining). I think it's closer to bear spray on the Scoville scales. Also, only the police are allowed to carry it. Civilian Pepper spray is 100% illegal as its classed as offensive weapon. British criminals also complain when they attack law abiding civilians and they fight back with anything other than their fist. It's similar to Chicago, New York and California how the harsher gun laws have mean violent criminals don't get hurt as much. Personally I think pepper spray should be allowed here. Yes you can get bad eyes if it's sprayed on you however I see how many females feel safer and have been able to escape attackers around the world using it. Rap* whistles and alarms are allowed here... Just not the sprays Do different States have different laws there?

Hmmmmm... I'm guessing if you're after this for more of a bug out set up the Pilgrim and Särmä smocks are probably better. They're a lot more versatile with the extra pockets. Personally the Särmä TST Smock is my favourite. That's purely down to full zip to get on and off with ease. I hope that helps

If anybody asks I'm more than happy for you to tell them it's my fault. I got your back brother 😂 Yes, it's an all year round jacket. Usually it's designed as an outer layer and your mid-layer should keep you warm in the winter, or you can just wear the Smock without a mid-layer in warmer months. It's a fairly all year round garment

On paper the size in cm is the same however the Greyman is an XL and the SAS is a Large. I've started to make sure to triple check the 'cm' more closely with Helikon-Tex recently rather than just getting my usual large. If you're going to add under layers I'd size up for sure. Wind resistance is about average for Duracanvas. It can be waxed which should help a wee bit too however it'll never replace a dedicated hardshell. Hope that helps buddy 🤙

Yes, they're more civilian friendly pockets

They don't have the retainer loops in the inside no. They do have them in the bottom exterior of the pockets to attached gloves etc I hadn't thought about it until now however it would have been nice for an M4 pocket in each of the bottom pockets. Even if you're not putting a rifle mag in there it'll fit a mobile, compass, packet of beef jerky 🤣

I had to rewatch the video to triple check 😆 I have a few flannels from Dixxons Flannels. It's either their Paton or the BRCC shirt. Love their shirts... highly recommended

That is correct. The prilgrim does fit a wee bit larger as it's easier to get over your head. The SAS Smock has a slimmer fit

The duracanvas isn't a super tight knit fabric so it does let a little wind through it. It's not a massive amount however it's not like a wind stopper fibre. If you've got a few layers on underneath it's not noticeable at all

Mam czarną, myślałem, że poczekam na szarą, ale wyszło jak wyszło. To co mi się nie podoba to napa w kolorze srebrnym - na zdjęciach tego nie widać, a na czarnym kolorze jednak lekko się to odznacza. Kurtka jest lekko za pas. To co mnie dziwi - w biodrach jest węższa. Ja wolałbym taka workowata z możliwością dopasowania ściągaczami. Mam 180cm i ok. 87kg i mam rozmiar L. Myślę, że XL byłby za duży. Kurtka fajna, bo nie wali militarnoscia po oczach - na spokojnie można ozna po mieście nosić. Jedyny mankament to cena... No ale z tym jest jak jest.

Thanks. I'd say the Covert wears a wee bit larger. You can easily wear an additional layer beneath. This wears a bit smaller however it's still easy to add a layer. I have both in the EU Large

100% will fit. I had the wolfhound with me that day however opted for the M65 liner as I was so hot in the wolfhound/Sas combination 😆

Definitely a great Smock. It's a fairly short Smock for civilian use that's modeled on the SAS original. I have another piece of content coming out 10th March on a Smock from Varusteleka. Similar price, awesome quality, plus it's Windproof and longer in the body. More suited for being over

It's actually thinner than the Greyman. This is a single layer whereas the Greyman is a double layer 🤙

Wolfhound hoodie will 100% fit underneath. I had it with me however filming with both of them on was way too hot 🤘 I might have the Lvl 7 on it's way do I'll make sure to try it out underneath too

Hello, I got today my Smock. I can wear it on wolfhound (EU L) with my hoody. Smock is EU L size.

Hi, it's definitely shower proof as it has a DWR coating. You can wax if if you're after more protection, however it's not going to be full waterproof like a hardshell jacket. You can either use old fashioned waxes on it or newer solutions like Nikwax

My order would be 1. SAS, 2. Woodsman, 3. Pilgrim. I just received the Varusteleka Smock and it's top of the list however there's no getting away from it's military look. The Helikon-Tex Smock can fly under the radar a wee bit easier.

Agreed. Although it's an SAS smock by name it's definitely a civilianised smock my nature. I have a few military smocks in the side lines which I though you'll definitely prefer

El polycotton (50%-65% polyester) permite la transpiracion y seca muy rapido. Tengo la smock britanica resistente al viento, es polycotton y es maravillosa. Aunque nada supera la consistencia del 100% algodón de un plash palatka encerado😆

Just the Polish 😆 I think the Canadians have a similar winter smock that has a similar layout. It has a removeable insulated liner for those cold winters. Plus, the US M65 jacket is kind of similar

Unfortunately not with this version from Helikon-Tex. Although it's called the SAS smock it's definitely more of a civilian smock.
