I recently went on a road trip to see some IG influencers and I tried my best to vlog while I was there! If you've ever rubbed your tummy and patted your head at the same time then you'll know what it's like to be in a wheelchair and vlog lol. It's really hard to film when my hands are busy wheeling but I PROMISE I'm figuring out hacks for vlogging so that I can keep sharing my experiences with you guys!

I've been A para since 2003, in 2011 I got A wheelchair accessible van & took A 3,000 mile 1 month long solo road trip from Ca. to Tennessee & parts off Alabama. Spent time at Graceland & Jack Daniels distillery. Had A great time, but was always worried about how things would go (pumping gas, getting rooms, how people would accept me, etc.) and kept telling myself "If it gets to be too much, just turn around." one day at A time as they say. I'm now 73yo & guess that part of life is over, but I had such A since of gratification & self worth after doing what I thought was the impossible.

Hi Brittney,, you’re so right for fighting the anxiety. I think there are so many of us that are in wheelchairs who fight anxiety and doubt when venturing out on our own. It’s the what if this goes wrong or that breaks. Learning to fight it has to be one heck of a challenge for me over the years, thankfully it’s getting where it does rule me. I love traveling but it’s all the extras that drives my wife nuts lol she ends up dealing with it, I just saw a suitcase on wheels I’m considering getting one for the next trip, it hooks up in front of your chair, it’s on wheels and looks like you can get a crap load of stuff in it. Great video as always, keep up the super job you’re doing on the channel. I’m so happy when I see you’ve posted a new video. Thank you for your honesty and openness, it’s helping so many of us. Stay well.

@@EmpoweredPara I’m the same way at times with my wife. But we can improve on that lol. I kinda dread the day when I’ll have to rely on caregivers that aren’t family. Hopefully that’s a long time off. I know that day will come at some point, I’ll do self directed care I hire who I want. Do you guys have that system in Alberta ?

I love your spirit you give so much inspiration to so many people. I have JRA and am in a wheelchair. I lost my right knee and leg to an infection. Broke my kneecap and femur bone on my left leg. I have severely deformed hands. Everything I do is a struggle. I so wish my kitchen was like yours. I can't reach much and do not have much strength in my arms from the 3 small strokes I had.

I think you did great identifying and working through your anxiety. And it looked like you were able to enjoy your weekend and have a new experience. BTW, hotels have staff that are available to help with luggage. I realize it's empowering to accomplish things on your own but sometimes reserving a bit of energy, by asking for help, is also good for your mental wellbeing. Best of everything to you!

I was so intrigued by what is considered an Accessible Hotel room that I went over about an hour ago, to the Wyndham Super 8 hotel which is just 2 minutes from my house. I talked to the hotel manager about their Accessible Rooms - they have 3. Just like you stated, it is a room with one King Bed, and it is connected to an adjoining room with 2 Queen Beds. I still want to see the room for myself, but all 3 were occupied today. So they took my name and phone number and said they would contact me when I can go see the room. I am learning lots, and I may need to know this for a friend one day!

I am on my 12 day solo trip to visit my kids in Dallas. It it’s my birthday trip, I don’t always get a chance to visit the kids so this was a huge deal for me. I’m having the time of my life. Looks like you’re having a great time. Silly shower setup tho.

Sorry about this, but I have another issue/question that’s been gnawing at me for a number of months. Am I correct in that you eat the garlic for protection against UTI’s? Does the garlic also help with your bowels? In working similar to why you eat insoluble Fiber? If I didn’t word this very well, I can try again.

The garlic is a prebiotic which means it feeds good good bacteria so it probably helps. Unless I eat too a lot like when I have a UTI because in large amounts it's an antibiotic.

Hi Brittney. First off your channel is awesomesauce. I have SMA so I'm not quite a para, but Im not quite able bodied either. I have a question about the garlic. As a person with a membership card to the Frequent UTI Club, I found that very interesting, I was wondering if it HAS to be fresh garlic; or can it be like garlic tablets{ie Garligue(sp)}? Thanx

has to be fresh garlic. Cut it and wait 10 minutes (an enzyme develops the antibiotic component when it reacts with oxygen), then swallow.

I know onion broth is good for you (especially the peels)...I can't imagine garlic chopped up into individual cloves (skins included) and thrown in would be bad.
