Learn from my mistakes y'all.
Split ends are not a myth. They are real and will snatch you up when you least expect it. Especially if they reside in a part of your head that you can barely see. 😩
Split ends happen when the protein in your hair strands experiences damage. Manipulating dry hair, not wearing your silk/satin scarf to bed, lack of protective styles, flat ironing your hair too often, and chemical processing can weaken your hair and cause it to split.
Take care of your hair. Routinely moisturize, deep condition, and protective style to strengthen it from the inside out and you should be fine.
Split ends are like fake friends...cut them off.

just last week I did a huge chop of my hair cutting off between 4-6" because my hair was seriously running rampant with split ends, breakage, & SSKnots, plus it was like a stair case with all sorts of different lengths! I decided to flat iron & first cut off all of the damage & then cut it all to about 6 1/2" long.... best decision of my LIFE!! Yesterday I did my first my first wash day since the cut.... my curls haven't looked or felt this good in a hot minute!

I've been separating my crown section out after I saw someone (NappyHeadedJojoba?) do it. Washing it separately, conditioning it separately, twisting it separately, clipping it separately. It's made a world of difference!

I haven't trimmed my hair since November last year and I have a few split ends. My hair has grown so much and I'm scared to lose the length. But, health over length, I just have to pick up the courage to trim my hair again, lol.

That crown breakage is sum'n serious. I actually have to take care of that particular patch of hair differently. Not only is in prone to breakage it has the nerve to be an entire different texture. Smh. But aside from trimming the Aphogee protein treatments really did help. Have u ever reviewed that line?

Its all good Will, it has happened to all of us...but I've also have observed that the crown area is sensitive n much more delicate then the rest n its very prone to breakage....so I find that protective styles do HELP!! It will grow BACK!! Great Vid!!...👍💁💙🌟

Curlygirl582 yes my crown is so short compared to the rest. Had to cut it back last year. But it has definitely grown back. It just seems like it’s stopped and won’t catch up to the rest.

The first time I trimmed mine, I flat ironed it (I don't flat iron my natural hair often because I protective style, but I wanted it to be straight) and let my sister in law trim it before she braided it up for a protective style. I kept it in for about 2 months and when I was visiting North Carolina, I got bored and sick of my sew in so I took it out and LAWD my hair was SO thick and noticibly longer! A small trim throughout your head can help so much. I had a damn bush on my head 😂😂

Trim it! Each time I do it, it grows mad fast. I'll deal with healthy shorter hair rather than long, unhealthy hair. I'm gonna cut it again soon.

I understand. I’ve never trimmed my hair as well. However due to real friendship, a friend kindly suggested I trim my hair when I stated it stopped growing. Now I’m preparing to do so while braided in preparation for faux Locs so I won’t notice. Lol

I feel ya! My hair is coming back from not taking care of my hair properly. I gave my hair the full spa treatment this weekend, and it feels so good and it's getting thicker. I gave myself a nice scalp massage with the scalp massage brush.

I'm scared of trims because my last "trim" 7 months ago ended up being a haircut on silk pressed past shoulder length hair. It was a chin length bob after my distracted beautician was done! WTF! I didn't scream or cry then but I will now! 😲😢 So now I'm scared of any beautician with scissors in their hands. I used get small barely noticeable trims maybe two or three times a year.

I didn’t take care of my hair for a while, knowing that I still got the damage of relaxed hair at the ends of my hair in the front. I didn’t wash them for 3 weeks or maybe more. I literally didn’t touch them for one week straight. My scalp was dry and my dumbass decided to do braids and put on a greasy oil that I never use before. And surprisingly one week later, I discover that I got bald spot where my hair was itching like crazy. Take care of your hair please don’t be like me. I learned from it and now I’m more aware of my hair.

Just sharing a tip, I put some tea tree oil in my spray bottle so every time I wet my hair for styling it gets that extra moisture, and sometimes I don’t even needs any product from the oil and product from the days before :)

My split ends and tangled hair kind of ended up shaping my hair into a bob because the hair in the front broke into bangs over time and the hair on the top and sides layered over time. I have curly hair so the damage isn't as noticeable if I moisturize and put the right stuff in my hair, so I still look cute. I cut them now whenever I see them but years of having them before I learned how to spot them has given me a hairstyle I actually like, so silver lining for me 🌸

You have gorgeous hair but I have the exact same inch issue. My ends are everywhere. My inches vary from 3-8ins back being longest, mid crown the shortest and brake bad and top invetween...I know I need a trim so badly but I can not find a stylist I trust. My ends are frizzy and dry compared to rest of hair shaft. I loc the heck out of them doesn’t seem to help much :( thanks for this video. I know I may have to cut but don’t want to

That's a tough area. Gravity makes the oils and moisture run down from your hair and scalp and environmental elements like the sun just beats on it. Glad you cut!

I know I have a lot of ss knots & old heat damage but I'm still waiting for my 2 year hair journey to get is straightend to have a good even trim 😤. The hair on my back tends to dread up easily & get dry fast, it's because when you sleep, your hair on the back is the one having the friction on the pillow regardless of the satin pillowcase because that's all I use.

Omfg. I just went through this, because I also found out I have major breakage at the centre back of my head, while everything around it is long. I feel like I’mma have to chop it up to get the entire head at the same length now, but I don’t want it. 😩 My fro is like stairs rn, as you said, but I’m trying to decide whether I start over or I just pray for a miracle. 😪😂

The crown section of my hair was the same way uneven ,frizzy dry braking i had to do the same thing slowly it is getting better after watching many U tube video I believe it was like that because this is were my hair got dry the most ,this is were my hair was exposed more from the sun also so now I cut a good porshun of it off i focus on that area more massage it make sure it is always moisturize good ,when I do my twist section that part buy it's self so it won't be pulling from other sections slowly i can see a big difference ,nice video ,good to now I am on the weight track

Okay, so just because your ends are thinner then your roots or the middle it does not equal breakage/split. The hair naturally tapers and the ends are thinner than the roots because layers have been worn down. Strands are made up of about 7 to 9 layers and natural wear and tear; washing, combing, brushing, any manipulation those layers get worn away making the Strand "skinnier". It does not necessarily mean Split ends or breakage. It's just the layers have been worn down. Now yes the thinner the finer The Strand the more susceptible it is to breakage and splitting but it's not impossible to keep a fine strand of hair intact. I just don't want anybody leaving this video believing that thin ends automatically means breakage or splits. He'll have y'all cuttin or trimming your hair for no reason. Unless you wanna cut it to have thicker ends or you like the blunt cut oppose to the v-shape, then cut away.
