In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

My favorite novella is written by him, and it's one which impacted me a ton. I am in such awe of his story, of Justin's talent, and super excited for the film version of his story (We the Animals).

I just finished reading WE THE ANIMALS, and i wanted to reach Justin Torres to tell him that i found the book engrossing, felt a gamut of emotions. And because of this i looked inward and childhood events of mine surfaced like gas bubbles from a swamp. Am from the Philippines, born in 1961 and the incident when my identify was being challenged by my macho elder brother resonated with your narration, except that i wasn't admitted into a mental institution. I kept mum about my true identity from my family through most of my teenage years but somehow had a breakthrough heart to heart talk with my father when i was in my 30's and the father reacted gently, asmonishing me to take care of myself. I could almost feel the invicible shield of love enveloped me at that instant. Me and my father became the best of friend from then on till he passed away under my care. My only regret is that i never admitted my gayness to my mother when she was still alive.

I watched the movie and i was hurting, like i really didnt know why😅 but i guess its because i felt all the pain coming off from that movie. Although at the end i was understanding the whole point of the story, i just... I felt that. (For the people that might ask bc people like to ask questions, its natural, im straight so dont get the wrong idea.) But my point is, is that i truly understood where it was all going. It just reeeeally got me in my feelings😪 but i loved that he shared his story, im grateful to have heard it. Much love here😌💜

What a beautiful soul Justin Is. This was much too short. I would love to just sit down and talk with him. I have so many questions.

So the young boy in "We the animals" is pretty much his story?
