You must always carry your passport in Turkey, it is law. "Turkish citizens have compulsory ID cards, which they must carry with them at all times. Foreigners are also expected to carry such ID with them, which means that you should keep your passport with you at all times." You were lucky, you could have got a fine. I was stopped in Fethiye area and asked for my passport in September. Safe travels Gabriel.

My electrician use to travel all over for the U.S. govt and was in Georgia for some time. He met his wife there. He said he loved it there and if he could would love to live there. However I don't remember what part of Georgia he was in. And also, I'm not saying there isn't any concern over what is going on in Turkey and Syria but I believe a lot of what we're seeing and hearing is fabricated. A news channel showed a video of explosions and fire and was saying it was an attack in Syria. A source that was there said it was b.s. and was actually a military drill being done by our own U.S. troops that were shooting at and exploding large canisters of fuel. It's hard to know what to believe anymore. We're being lied to constantly. It's called fear mongering and there's a purpose behind it. So stay safe but don't believe everything you hear.

I was in Mardin for some days from 10/10/19 till 12th so must have been right after you were there, all was calm and safe😉. Its a nice little city and yeah there is a big difference between the new and old town, I was couchsurfing and did some sightseeing around to some of the old monastery's my host took me to a juwerly shop where they had amazing wine behind the counter, way better than the stuff I tasted in the comercial wineshops and even cheaper! It's a wierd experience looking over the Anatolian planes, Mardins view is streaght into Syria. Knowing whats happening only 40km away, take in mind that Turkey uses a safezone from about 20km on Syrian side. Mardin is 20km from the border. So nothing to see there of the war and people seem not to worried about it at the moment.

Simply put, “anyway” without an S is correct. Always use it without the S. “Anyways” with the S is considered slang, and is a part of nonstandard, colloquial, or informal English. Furthermore, since “anyway” is an adverb and it is impossible for adverbs to be plural.
