This is about a month's worth of work in fourteen minutes. There was plenty of things done that didn't make this episode, and likely will just remain on an SD card. I'm roughly 1,000 hours into this project. The sheer time it takes to restore one of these cars is unbelievable. The same can be said for any classic car restoration.
A couple weeks ago it seemed like I wasn't even close, but now I'm starting to envision that first drive again. Literally chomping at the bit to take this car and just go.
There's a lot of curiosity about how I'm going to like this car when it's done. I'm obsessed with the cars appearance, that isn't the question. How is going to feel..
I drove a 912 once, but it was your typical boring test drive with another person in the car. You can't get to know a car unless you get it to yourself.
Oh! Thank you to Mario for coming up and helping me film some of this video. It was great to have some company in the shop. Uploading takes forever..

Roughly 1,000 hours on this project. It's been weeks in the making to clean, prep, etc. In the past week the car is all starting to come together. I filmed this entire build, but am attempting to edit these videos in a way that people will want to watch. It was really difficult to get it this short, and even still I left out so many projects. Thanks for watching guys!

You are doing a great job! You likely already know that this car will never be sold, at least not while you can still drive! All of the plated parts are superb, I really enjoyed watching the running gear get put back together and seeing all of the effort you put into it, again job well done sir! I have rebuilt/rejuvenated several motorcycles and I remember how much the bench mounted wire wheel was my friend. Thanks to you for documenting so much of your work and sharing it with us all, I will be on the edge of my seat when it comes time to fire her up and take that first drive, hooyah to youya Michael!

This car is a keeper, that’s for sure. Thanks for the comment Scott! I’ve used the bench wire wheel so much. Can’t wait to try and fire it up, and share how it goes

This series is entertaining. I didn't have the skills you have when I was 30-something. At 60, I still don't have them. But I enjoy the world of Porsche as much as any car enthusiast. I've been tempted to buy a basic 912 and just drive around all day enjoying the sound of those craze flat engines. Have yet to do it. Good for you for doing it.

I am starting off with a bare shell of a 911 and having to do everything from the ground up, its grooling but a rewarding process.

Wow, a lot of work put in there, nice to see the attention to detail & function of the car but still keeping the patina. Personally I would like to see more videos, it was way to short for all those hours. But I get it, the regular viewer is not interested. Just make sure to do the videos as you like them to be 😅

Just sat down and watched all of the vids on your 912 adventure, very cool. I shared those "can this car be as original as I think it is" fears/doubts once after stumbling on to a one owner 54 beetle that was for sale by word of mouth only. After buying it I had the sheer joy of finding that I had purchased an absolute time capsule right down to the faded owner's manual still sitting in the glovebox. After years of enjoying the car I sold it to a collector and of course years later even now regret it. I am a New Zealander living in Germany and have a question regarding 912's and their value in the U.S. I see 'relatively unmolested' examples that are needing a good going over (just as you are doing) advertised for US$25K - $30K online. Realistically is it possible to still purchase a solid 912 in the U.S for this price? I ask because from what I see here in Germany the same money would only buy a wreck by comparison. Cheers, Happy New Year and keep the vids coming!
@michaelgideon6422
@michaelgideon6422 Год назад
What’s up Kiwi. Thanks for watching and the story on your beetle, really cool. A rust free car that needs a mechanical update is possible to find in the States for 30k or so, but pretty rare. Most of the cars in that price range are going to have a lot of rust.

@@michaelgideon6422 Thanks Mike, ok that explains why I am seeing U.S sourced cars here for sale, with the right car there would be a nice profit to be made in bringing them over with the wilder prices they are fetching in their homeland. The sound of your olive 911 is glorious mate, it brings a smile on just hearing it. I totally agree with you on the earth-tones for the early cars being the go (and a thumbs down to Guards red). I'm looking forward to the 912 firing up and meanwhile if I sell our house in NZ to live the dream and invest in 'air-cooled equity' then when the wife starts questioning the move I'll send her your way for an explanation! :) Cheers and take care, Steve

great video's very entertaining, not sure if you are aware, you are not allowed to use peoples music on your videos without permission, its copy right etc. research it, you may need to remove the music, be careful dude. Good luck
