My Take on Disney Trips, Adults and Influencers 

So long as people are reasonably respectful, it really shouldn't matter how old they are. I'm glad folks who go, regardless of age, can have a moment that means a great deal to them

Not having a vacation until you're 45 years old really puts into perspective how privileged I've been. I'm very happy that you're getting to experience new things Shannon!

People watching at Disney is a great way to pass the time in lineups. I went to Disneyland when I was 8. Prince John from Robin Hood pulled my hair when we were getting a family photo with him. Now, the poor cast members in costumes have essentially body guards with them because of all the crap they take - even from adults. Will watch your live streams at Disney.

Former Disney Cast Member, did both Land and World for the honeymoon and we’re off to World with the kid in about a month. When I was a Cast member I always tried to spend one or both days off a week out of the parks. Whether it was running errands, doing chores, or just hanging around the pool, I wanted to make sure that I didn’t get too burned out on stuff, you know? Not to mention you can only do the same topics a certain number of times of times before it gets old.

I gotta tell ya, this is my favorite TEG video. We went to Disney in February 2020, just before everything locked down, and it was wonderful. Have a fun trip, and may the force be with you.

That nature show, at least in the US, was "Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom". Yes, our family watched it every weekend. 8-) As an aside, almost certainly as a result of that show, Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha is one of the best zoos in the world. (Really.)

Im going to sit directly on the fence of the overweight argument. I see both sides, coming from someone who WAS overweight myself: If they are overweight and they are trying to better themselves, great! Im happy for them in that respect. On the other hand, those who act entitled about it and expect special treatment, or just ridicule the park about not accommodating them, while not actively trying to improve, thats where I draw a line. You USUALLY can tell whos who. Its a shame when people who are trying to better themselves are mocked by others and i understand why theyd be upset. You never know the story of others. I went to Disneyland at age 12 in January 1994 and I'm disabled, so I know exactly what you mean about "I'm an old man, don't wait up for me." I survived it, but I had to sit down a lot and I had blisters all over the soles of my feet. My dad was abusive and didn't really understand my disability and basically told me I was fat and out of shape the entire trip. So the whole visit was a mixed bag. I understand the Monorail Cafe with its giant burritos and miming Disney characters no longer exists, which is a shame. I have good memories of that. I've always had a bad back, so I was limited in terms of the rides I could go on. No rollercoasters or bumper cars. I had rods put in in 1996, so all of that was completely off limits at that point. I take medication that makes me overheat and have since I was a toddler, so going in January was definitely the right decision. As soon as temperatures creep past 20 Celsius, I'm in trouble.

Enjoy your trip! looking forward to those videos. Started going to Disney about 10 years ago and made it a regular thing so I guess my wife and I would be considered a Disney adults. Just being there or planning trips helps me clear my mind of whatever crap I'm dealing at the time. As you said, everyone has a different reason for enjoying things. I would probably be one of the awkward ones to look at you and not say anything. I ran into Brent Burns once at Disney World and said absolutely nothing.

The only time I’ve had an urge to cry at Disneyland is when checking the entrance fees.

I just wonder how long it's going to be before people start getting copyright strikes or takedown notices for filming at Disney and posting online. Other companies such as Cedar Fair & Six Flags (which are merging together) are very protective of their intellectual property.

I would have no issue with Disney adults, I being one myself, unless they’re wearing a Ducks or Sharks jersey. And I would not give a hard time to an Oilers fan-they’ve suffered enough.

I never been to Disneyland, but i would probably get emotional if i did go.

I agree you shouldn't ridicule people for their size. I do think that the expectation that rides and seating should accommodate all sizes is insane. I will snicker at Disney adults, but I've seen people gawk at me in all stages of sports Fandom so who am I to judge.

It's as you said, you didn't go on vacation until you were 45 years old so the reactions to seeing the park for the first time may be different. The person can do whatever they want at the castle or anywhere as long as it doesn't impinge on other's experience At least the fat shaming thing has become unpopular as of late. I don't agree with the "healthy at any weight" thing where people are being celebrated for being >300 lbs. I agree, it is hard to drop weight though as 95% of the food in the grocery store is unhealthy I still think Main Character Syndrome is just being an asshole by another name Bro, it's your money, do you what you want. It's one thing if you're kids are starving and you're buying lightsabers but typically that's not the case if you're at a Disney park.
