It seems that Anthony doesn't ask for a lot of things. That is why I am SO very happy about his new room. It wouldn't be easy to share a parent you waited so long for. He is a great young man!

I had 3 children and fostered/adopted 5. Almost 18 years ago my husband died and I was alone. I decided to focus on the kiddos and spent 17 years alone until the youngest went off to college a few years ago. I’m so inspired and in love with your family! You and your little humans are amazing! Anthony is so sweet. He looks a little tired. That happens when you go away to camp. Love the beach vibe of the room. I like getting A's to get a television in their room. I think it's healthy for kids to sleep in their room and not watch TV.

Anthony seems to be happy with whatever you do. He’s very easy going. He chose you, Peter, so he’s happy just having a room. No TVs in kids’ rooms … right!! I got a tv when I was at college (35 minutes from home). I lived there one year. I commuted for 3. When I came home after the year of living at school I had the tv in my bedroom. I was 21. My son had a little tv for video games but that was it. We had a tiny living room and he had a little sister who needed somewhere to play. So he had to play games in his room if she was also home. I tried splitting my living room in 2 so one could play game an and one could watch tv. I had bookshelves separating the spaces. One would say “your game is too loud I can’t hear my show!” 🤷🏻‍♀️lol And I also needed a place to be so I sat with her while she watched her kids’ shows. My room was very small and I brought the bed I had when I was married (king) because I couldn’t afford a new one. The bed practically took up the entire room. I had a mall computer desk and chair and a dresser and that was it. he had a loft bed in his room and had the video games at his desk under the bed. I wish it could have been different. But we were poor in a very small house at that time. We survived. One bathroom was the hardest part!! I used to say “if only I could have an extra TOILET!” Lol God gave me a great husband many years later and we have 2 full bathrooms. I’m still odd man out sometimes and have to hold it. 🤣 a toilet per person would be so nice. so having a powder room would be a dream come true. lol I’m home all day by myself so I get to use whatever bathroom I want now! 😂

I cried when you remembered growing up without a mattress. The room is absolutely adorable and designed beautifully. You have excellent taste. If I might make a tiny suggestion, as a mom of a teen… It would be to allow Anthony to add his own touches. Even if the touches are ugly and hideous to us, they do well when they make their room personalized to themselves. One idea is to have a bulletin board where they may tack photos or video game characters or anything of interest. I’m on this parenting journey with you!

You're a great dad. Your kids are blessed to have you as a dad/foster dad. The room is nice. I agree. TVs don't need to be in kid's rooms. You're right about not getting a choice as a foster kid. My foster parents did what they could for us, but we did have to use the furniture they already had. I was only in foster care for a few months, but my sister was in the system for at least 2 years.

You're very kind Peter! Anthony often comes across as a tired, old man! 😆 I think the reason he is always hungry, is because he doesn't eat nutritionally, one needs whole foods, raw fruits, and vegetables only slightly cooked (steamed.) When we eat the right foods, we aren't hungry. If one eats potato chips, processed foods and carbs you are always hungry, you keep trying to fill u0 on carbohydrates. My suggestion is that at breakfast, he have a Power Drink: juiced raw veges (any greens,) apples and berries. It must be drank within 6 minutes of juicing or all the living enzymes die. So dstoring it in the refrigerator is not useful. *ALL raw foods GIVE life to our body, ALL cooked foods only sustain life* I guarantee of he has a power drink each day (nothing else half an hour either side of it,) within a week, he'll be healthy and fit, and at the end of two weeks, a dynamo!!

Anthony’s bedroom was really nice. Great job picking out furniture and decorations! Had to chuckle when you picked him up from the bus and he said you owed him $10 and he spent all his money. I remember those conversations with my boys. I like your idea regarding the TV. Agree with you completely. Glad Anthony had fun at camp.

I think the room turned out well. After coming home to this surprise it looks like a winner!

And Simba and Rafikki really appreciated the new bed also, and they missed Anthony while he was gone. They really made an extra effort to welcome Anthony back home. The bracelets Anthony showed you are survival bracelets. They could be ordered off Amazon too. They use them in search and rescue, and army I guess. They are cool. Your kids are lucky to have you. You do a lot for them. Nice house , but I think the kids and dogs miss their old backyard and neighborhood. They will need some time to adjust to the move.

I wish I could really see the depth of what it takes to care for so many trauma filled babes. I have my grandgirls and it's not been an easy journey as there is no ample funds to help me take care of them. I want to ask for assistance however we don't wish to be treated like we aren't blood family. Wish I had help.
