Great video. When my dad s a boy in the early 1930s he and his brother often fished in Tarn Howes, there were no tourists in those days. I was born in Lake District and have always lived here. I have recently been spending more time taking photographs and have invested in a camera instead of using my phone. I live in the Coniston area, one of my favourite places is the Duddon valley.

Tried to make it to Wast Water again during my last visit to the lakes in August. Unfortunately it was so busy and the road on the way in that we were using was blocked with about 50 cars in a standoff.... I was absolutely gutted to not make it as it's truely amazing there but I did try and go during peak times....silly me. I am planning to go back next month with my camera when it will be a bit quieter!

Only differ by no2 as not been there. My other choice is the langdale valley with blea tarn and other routes. Your right the lakes are brilliant. Can't wait for end of September when hopefully back up there. Derwent water and surrounding hills quite good too. Better stop as could go on. All the best hope your managing ok with lockdown.

Great Video Henry, I live in Bowness-on-Windermere, but like you Wastwater is one of my favorites and amazing for some astrophotography too as there is zero light pollution, that amazing landscape and star-trails is magical. Have you ever been up Brantfell, Post Knott in Bowness, it's a bit of a hidden gem, i'm fortunate to live on the road leading up to the fell and it takes literally 15-20 mins to walk up there, you'll be spoilt for compositions and a view of nearly all 10.5 miles of Windermere. Look forward to the next video cheers!!

Hey Henry, love your site. Buttermere isn't a big lake, btw, these are all bigger: Windermere, Ullswater, Coniston Water, Thirlmere, Haweswater, Bassenthwaite Lake, Crummock Water, Wast Water and Ennerdale Water, there may even be more. Holme Fell is fantastic in the autumn.

Hi Henry, what a great video!! Coming from the far north east of Scotland i must admit i don't know much about the lake district but loved your number 2 'Holme Fell'. I think we are all in the same boat with not getting out but i do feel like i'm inside a pressure cooker 'all these plans buzzing around in my head just waiting for the all clear to let loose' To be honest once these lockdown's are lifted i don't think Usain Bolt could beat us photographers outside. I live on the East Yorkshire coast and haven't been across to The Lakes in nearly 14 years. It's my favourite place in the world, but personal situations and finances have kept me away for so long. I've been just about able to handle that, because I knew it would always be there when I wanted to return, so with this bloody lockdown, I'm missing it more than ever - OK, so I've been away from there for years, but knowing I couldn't go back there now, even if I wanted to, somehow makes it even harder to be away.

You have mentioned literally every place I am touching on a 90 mile backpacking loop of the Lake District that I start on July 4th with the exception of Tarn Howes (and only going so far as Loughrigg Tarn). This video has made me even more excited for the trip as I am hoping to get some great photos and video and it just looks epic. Hi Henry, This video really made me long for lockdown to be over. Living within a stones throw of the Lakes and the Dales is really difficult when you know what’s there but you can’t get to it. Like putting a kid in a sweet shop and telling him that he can’t have any! Still it can’t last for ever and I am so looking forwards to being able to get out there again. One place you should put on your list to visit is Langstrothdale chase, just south out of Hawes in the dales. It’s just beautiful. Thanks again.

This makes me yearn for the next visit to the Lakes . Been there many times over the years and always get a wee bit emotional when we get to the top of Kirkstone pass and drop down into Ambleside , where we usually stay. My favourite area is heading up the Langdale valley to Elterwater , a beautiful spot. After a family day out , I always headed up there with my camera around dusk and have some good images of those evenings. Great vlog Henry ..... hang in there , won't be long now mate .

Thanks Henry enjoyable blog. Very tough to choose. I live in Ambleside so I think Loughrigg will always be my favourite. You are right so much choice. Even been able to do a bit of the lower parts in the lockdown. Ullswater is well up there for me again so many choices (didn't you have your snow shot there?). Also Derwentwater, especially if you go on some of the fells (Latrigg and Walla Crag) absolutely fantastic. Must say I can't wait for more freedom especially as everything is so close. Take care.
