Hey BEAT family, I hope you enjoy this video. It's obviously different than my normal videos but one I've been wanting to do for a very long time. I wanted to share with you the top 6 books that have really impacted my life and ministry over the past 20 years. I hope and pray that depending on where you are in your walk with God that these books will have an even greater impact on your life as well. Enjoy and we'll be back on Friday with another exciting video. I won't tell you which one it is but you won't want to miss it! Enjoy and the links are in the description if you want to purchase these books. And...what books are YOU currently reading right now? Leave it below! Love ya!
What's up brother you have a beautiful family I may add I just came to ask you have you ever read the Lost Books of the Bible, I know some people say they are not supposed to be in the Bible but they actually was the Bible but the Roman Church decided what to keep and what to take out the Bible after I read these books I start understanding the Bible more a lot of things that do not make sense in the Bible the books put a lotto missing pieces together also the same books are mentioned in the Bible the Book of Enoch in others let me ask you this who are you going to believe the Creator or the creature/man, all scripture AR aspire by God right ,,you are a wise man I know these books will make you even wiser
Mere Christianity - C.S. Lewis. No surprise with this one; it's probably one of the most famous Christian books out there. I think it's one of the most fascinating books I've ever read. It is helping me deepen my faith and grow as a Christian. Doing the study guide by Steven Urban as I go.
THE BEAT by Allen Parr man i really want to know cause me and my fiancé were debating about this. Should people who say they are saved curse or swear? I really don't want to tell her not to cause of course we we're raised different but i just don't know man. Good bless brother
Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. I love the clarity and simplicity that Lewis uses to explain the Christian faith. If you like audio books get the Blackstone version narrated by Geoffrey Howard. So good!
Here is a great question. This question is coming from English first language speaking person. Are there any English translation bible that we as Christians should avoid?
@@derrickbrown7955 i'm not an English first lenguage person myself, but I know that generally almost every translation is ok. Specially king james and NIV for example, but there are some few that are "corrupted" such as the one jehova witnesses use or the the mormon people use. I can't recall the names of both. I believe one is something called new world translation or something. These have some bible verses changed or straight up cut from the original ancient copies
Allen I saw this video a few days ago and I ordered the Systematic Theology. OMG I haven't been able to put this book down. It explains so much and brings so much clarity to scriptures in the bible. What a GREAT recommendation and I honestly think that I would read this book over and over again. Awesome choice!
Yes we must educate ourselves on what we believe and why. The other books are great but this book provides scriptural basis with every point so you can read the Bible along with the theology book. Amazing resource!
I made that decision this year. 3 weeks and counting I haven't turned on my TV. I intend to get rid of it completely next week. I have way too many Christians books that I never seem to make time to read and I have started. Praise God. I listened to several message by David Wilkerson and he said , just get ride of the TV and it seems he is right
Tolu Omololu Honestly I don't see an issue with TV as long as you use it right. However, I see too many people (I'm guilty too) using too much technology and not enough readers. So I decided to try to become a bookworm. And not a book on a phone app either. I mean a good, old fashioned, paper book.
@@QZXproductions I still have a tv, but I don't have tv broadcasting. I use the tv with my DVD player only. I don't want the distraction. Also, it's too easy to be addicted to the idiot box. LOLOL 😉 But even lately I don't view a DVD very often. I spend more time listening to the radio and preaching on RU-vid and favorite Google apps. I can't get enough of great preaching and Bible teaching. As the Christian singer Carmen used to say, "I'm addicted to Jesus!" More and more, He occupies my mind. He's coming soon! Be blessed, my friend! 😊🙏
Kathie Rouse I've been watching a lot of RU-vid preaching too. There's a lot you can learn, though not as much as you can from Scripture itself. You be blessed too, my friend.
Single until you were 40?! God bless brother talk about God's timing just look at you and your beautiful family :). I really need to get back into reading.
@@thebeatagp And you have passed on those blessings with this great channel that helps so many people. Your cheerful nature and knowledge of the Bible are inspiring. and you certainly have no excuse to forget your wedding anniversary
@Kevin B I understand what you mean, but for me, it seems like an even bigger deal when a female waits on God and marries at 40+. I'm just about 43 now. I used to hate not being married yet, for companionship and being family with someone alone, for I am an independent type and enjoy having my own pocketbook even if it is not much, but at 40, I told myself one night, I may be have never been married, but I never been divorced! 😂 Now it is, if it happens with the right one, wonderful! If not, that is okedoke as well! My marriage need to be with Jesus first, either way, and I need to get in a place my satisfaction comes from Him alone, for only He can fill all my voids if I let Him.
Yes, I was surprised when you said you didn't get married until you were 40! You don't look that old! I enjoy all that you post and I'm looking forward to reading a few of the books you mentioned (and getting one for my son who is getting married this year at 38. Thank you.
Please do more of these. It would be great if you would do it topic wise like : Faith Classics , Grace Classics , Ministry Classics, etc. Keep up your blessed work. GOD Bless you!
Man, this is so encouraging. I wasn't sure if you all liked this type of video since it's so different from my normal videos. Thanks so much for that feedback!
I have two of these: His needs/her needs and the search for significance! I love reading and love Christian books. Thank you for these recommendations, Allen!
Definitely looking into Systematic Theology! I’ve been reading The Power Of A Whisper by Bill Hybels. It’s about hearing God’s whispers to you, if they’re Him or you, etc. Really good book for those having trouble hearing God or wondering if what they’re hearing is Him. Thank you Allen! Blessings🙏✝️
Loved your suggestions on books to read. Could you make a video on books teenagers should read? I like to give my grandchildren books at Christmas and would love your help on books to buy them.
Married Couple: His needs, Her needs Ministry: The Heart of the Artist(*) Singleness and Dating: Boundaries in Dating The Search for Significance The Samson Syndrome Systematic Theology (*) *must read
@@ralphcopas He specifically says at the beginning that this list are his recommendations, other than the Bible 0:05. He never said not to read scriptures but are giving other suggestions.
@@ralphcopas yes the Bible is the only book we need to read. All others a vain works of man that will be burned up in the end. The Word of God is forever.
@@Ironica82 He is encouraging the merchandise of the Gospel (if you believe the people writing them are actually Christian) or adding to the Gospel (as you have to read these books because suddenly the Bible is not enough).
@@ralphcopas you are going to read other books anyway. As a Christian, it is even more inspiring to read more Godly books. Its the same as an economist reading his textbook and books about stocks. Generally speaking, books are just ways for us to communicate with one another that can last decades. We must strengthen one another’s faith and this is one of the ways to do it. Of course though, the bible is all you need.
Those titles are very UnBiblical. Grace Unknown suggests that we don't know grace comes from Christ. Crazy Love says I guess that God's love is insane, which is blasphemous. Case for Faith is a nice worldly title as it seems you need court evidence for faith in God. Erasing Hell? Now where is that in the Bible Francis? Ya'll can't erase Hell as you keep writing unBiblical additions to the Gospel that further promotes Hell by miselading people so they end up there!
Every time I have a question there's already video on this topic with an answer on your channel. What a blessing! Thank you so much for your help Mr. Parr! ♥
"Chasing God" by Angie Smith. It really helped me as a believer who questions my assurance a lot. (I bet I've watched your "How To Know" video at least 20 times.)It talks about how you do the things that look good on paper: read your Bible, pray, study, go to church. But still aren't convinced you really KNOW Him. It shows how you may not be following God, but Chasing Him.
I haven't heard of any of these books except Systematic Theology, which is on my list of books I want to read!! Thank you for the suggestions! I love reading Christian books!!
I'm definitely going to read that Samson book, I think its really going to speak to me because Ive had people call me an alpha male and a natural leader but yet I love God and Jesus and often find it hard being the way I am while making sure I live in line with scripture, and i can see my biggest struggles have been on that list, Thankyou !!
Brother this has been a blessing as all your videos. Glory to God!!! I had no idea u were over 40 and let me tell you brother u look really good for your age. I thought u were about 35! P.s my husband and I got married at 35 and although difficult waiting on the Lord it has been well worth it Glory to God!
I first watched this video last year upon release and saved it for later. Now I got all these books and I would be starting with systematic theology. I think my theology needs some fixing. Thanks brother Allen! I was really searching for some good books to study and learn from. You made my life easier with this.
Those books are for Millieumans Society. Read this Books: " When God Does Not Make Sense, Race. Religion, & Racism. " The Authors are Dr. James Dobson & Minister Frederick K. C. Price. Now these 2 books need to.be Read Today.
The heart of the artist! I myself am a worship leader, musician and paint too so this book really attracted me but right now I'm broke😭 this is added in my wishlist though
Allen, I love your channel! Your down-to-earth, common sense teaching of the Scriptures knocks my socks off! 😉 Seriously, bro, I'm going to order the book on theology. I see way too many Christians' comments on RU-vid and Facebook who display their lack of knowledge of both correct theology and how to rightly divide the Word of truth. I realize that a lot of these individuals have been so heavily indoctrinated, they don't even know that they need to question everything they've been taught and not take for granted that they've been taught truth. When I get that book and start reading it, I will be able to use it to support my views, even if most people will still be resistant and accuse me of being a pagan. Oh, well, that's the way it goes. You are a blessing, Allen! Thanks for posting great videos! Are you on Facebook? If so, I will give you a like. Grace & peace to you, bro! 😊🙏🙏🙏
A great book for me was Francis of Assisi: A Revolutionary Life. It has some tough vocabulary making it a difficult read, but it showed me what one person can do to serve God and change the world. God's love for us and our love for Him has true power.
Hey I just like to say a big ty for all ur videos and what not because for awhile or many months I been looking for answers to help me start to see the light and I ended up on this channel and it’s help me understand that god is real and i don’t know how to explain it or anything like that but I just get this overwhelmeing feeling ur genuine in ur videos and it speaks to my heart and that made me finally becoming a born again believer as they say . Ik this is long and I hope everyone reading this has a great day and god bless of course maybe me writhing this will help some one else out there to who felt like I did before watching your videos and it help them and help them find the answers there looking for out there . Ty :)
I've been reading a lot of Timothy Keller lately. Currently I am reading the Prodigal God and next I plan to read walking with God through pain and suffering.
Great video! Thanks for sharing your list! I’ll look into these- especially the Systematic Theology book. I would never have known that I could trust the book’s teachings if you hadn’t recommended it. Every Christian home probably needs the book since there are soooo many wrong teachings, videos, & opinions influencing us everyday. Even many the so called “Christian” ones can actually be false and heretical. We must all be careful not to be deceived; we need sound doctrine. I love: •Mere Christianity by CS Lewis •Pursuit of God by AW Tozer •How to Grow by Darryl Dash (this is a new book that covers many basics that are essential for spiritual growth) Allen, thanks for all your teaching videos! God bless you!
Just discovered this channel and feel super encouraged! Thanks for the suggestions of books as well, I haven’t heard of most of these and certainly think they sound interesting to read!
Loved the video and will definitely plan on adding some of these titles to the books I currently have to read this year, God willing. Your videos have been very encouraging so keep pressing on. God bless you my brother!
Great job as always Allen Parr. How about some of these books: Great Doctrines of the Bible by Martyn Lloyd-Jones; Man to Man by Charles Swindoll; The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren; The Call by Os Guinness; The Blessed Life by Robert Morris; Spiritual Authority by Watchman Nee; The Making of a Leader by Frank Damazio; and 2 books that I have written: Words of Grace for Young Adults by Rev. Dr. Mike Morawski + DisGrace: Immorality of Christian Leaders and How To Prevent It by Rev. Dr. Mike Morawski. I appreciate you Allen, keep up the great work God has begun in you!!
I would stay away from Warren as he is a huge leader in the "seeker-sensitive movement". That book gives so much false hope to people and even his video series with it doesn't even present true repentance but just wanting God to show you His purpose. bereanresearch.org/rick-warren/
Hey Allen, I’m new to your channel and love your perspectives and insights. Thank you for this book review. I just ordered The Samson Syndrome and Grudem’s Systematic Theology. Can’t wait to dive into them. I’ve also had my eye on Bird’s Evangelical Theology, but that one will have to wait until I finish Grudem. Keep up the great work and God Bless.
A book I highly recommend is TACTICS by Gregory Koukle. He explains how to go from the content of Christianity to the conversation in everyday life or even in debate. This book will no doubt show you how to discuss your Christian world view with gentleness and respect. 1 Peter 3:15
I feel personally that ministry is not something that the Lord has called for me to do. However, I love sharing the word to those that want to hear, but I don't find many people that actually want to hear so they just shut me down. I'm currently living in Kuwait and it is forbidden to evangelize so I would like to keep my head for a little longer. But when I do meet those that fellowship in Christ I enjoy teaching to them. I have never met a Muslim who didn't think they could convert me and I have never found one who questions his faith so my efforts have probably bearded no fruit but I'm also hoping that the seeds I plant through the holy spirit might help those to come to the truth and turn to Christ. I've always asked the question as to why the truth spoke to me and why the word convicted me and why others just simply choose not to believe. Why is it so obvious to me but so far for others. No matter what I say they have an argument to choose against Christ. I personally blame myself because I still struggle with certain sins which I feel makes me worthless for God to use to further the body of Christ. Maybe that is Satin attacking me and me in sorrow for my trustpassess. However, I still push on and keep evangelize. I thank pastor Parr he has been a true inspiration for me and I thank God that he put his channel in my path. In conclusion I ask the committee to pray for me to keep me strong in this world and I will pray also for all of you. God bless and Happy News and God bless you with all your goals for the coming 2021 Amen!
I've been a follower for a long time. I want to show my mom your videos so bad. But she is not an english speaker. I'm still trying to make you speak Haitian creole with an app lol. I'll find a way... 😊
I'm currently reading the purpose driven life I'm on day two so I can say it has impacted my life yet but it's a 40 day read about your purpose in life....I like it so far...
Thank you for a great video! I need the Samson Syndrome for sure. You might also want to look at Norman Geisler's Systematic Theology too. I have his and Wayne Grudem's and I think Norm's goes into greater depth on the subjects myself. Not taking away from Wayne's by no means. His is excellent too!
Cody Buchanan • I get where you are coming from. At the end of the day God must come first, and if I don’t have a girlfriend right now it’s because of God’s plan. The fact that I notice the worldliness of the girls I know, is what keeps me from trying seek a relationship with them. I can thank God for at least helping me discern them. I have to trust that God will one day set me put me on the path to finding the right woman. Until then I must focus on my relationship with God as he leads me into doing his will.
Continue to pray, seek, and trust that God will send you a Godly wife. Truth be told, we often look for love instead of allowing love to find us. This leads to desperation. Allow God to be the Author of your love life.
If you have toxic behaviors, toxic emotions AND/OR toxic influences as a christian, you should read Soul Detox by Craig Groeschel. I'm currently reading it and it has been life-changing for me.
I would like to get some of these books. I also would like to get "I don't have enough faith to be an atheist" and "Stealing from God" by Frank Turek and another one which is "Dispensationalism before Darby" which I don't know the author of.
Cosmic Codes by Chuck Missler. The Final Quest Trilogy by Rick Joyner. Defeating Your Adversary in the Court of Heaven by Praying Medic. Not a Fan by Kyle Idleman. God's Generals by Roberts Liardon. The most important for the end times of this group is The Final Quest Trilogy by Rick Joyner.
Thanks Allen for your List of books, I will check them out. One that has changed lots of lives all around the world is 40 Purpose Driven Life & Purpose Driven Church by Rick Warren
I personally love reading and recommend for men who struggle with lust and marriage issues the "Every man series" every man's battle, every man's marriage etc. Great reads. Also my wife read "Not a fan" and I read a chapter or 2 and it's pretty good as well. It talks about being a follow rather than fan of Christ.
I could name so many books but a few I want to mention is The Christian Atheist by Craig Groeschel; When God Happens by Bill Myers and Angela Hunt; I Am Second by Doug Bender and Dave Sterrett and another one that I really found interesting was I Met God In Hell by Tim Ehmann.
Guys, The True Jesus: Uncovering the Divinity of Christ in the Gospels Book by David Limbaugh was soooooo good. I couldn't put it down. It not only breaks down the society and history of the state of Isreal when Jesus came and what happened in between the Old Testament and New Testament, but it breaks down each of the gospels, putting them together and commentating on the actions and teachings of Jesus. It's so insightful. I loved it.
Hey Allen: A great little book that you should check out is "What To Do When The Wheels Come Off" It's funny, thought provoking and an easy read. (Short modern proverbs) It is a real down to earth inspirational Christian book that I think is an instant classic. It is still available on Amazon. Love your passion for reading. Please let me know what you think by reviewing this gem.
