When I came across your channel, my instinct was to dismiss it because everything seems so Pinterest-y and perfect. But, man, you have won me over with your friendliness and helpful, accessible art tips (thank you for not editing out things like spelling milk with two k's - it can feel like anyone making art needs to be perfect). I've commented on other artists on RU-vid recently, and you are not exempt from my pestering! I've always enjoyed art and use it as an outlet to relieve stress, but I've never been good at it or produced work I'd be proud to show off to other people. I found this channel during lockdown (I worked a lot, so I never had time to myself) and you have inspired me and taught me so many things- I have started to produce work that I actually want to send to my loved ones, that I want to show off on social media and that I am just so proud of- and it's nowhere near as good as anything you or other artists could create, but my art now goes places. If I'm losing vision of my work I can walk away and come back and see what I can have to do to elevate it. I didn't see your content before lockdown and it's a shame because you are amazing at what you do and I would never have known my potential without your knowledge and skills. Thank you

This was very helpful! Thank you! I have just started drawing this year and your videos have been most helpful. Most of these tips I have already picked up on from watching your other videos, but there were some that were new to me. I especially liked the tracing trick for something that I feel pressure to get just right! And it was very encouraging that even experienced artists still draw in pencil first. Sometimes I felt like I was cheating. 😁

Thank you so much for this wonderfull video! I indeed very often do not feel well about using tracing paper to refine my drawings. But your words helped me a lot. I will keep in mind, that it's not a shame to trace one's own work.

Thanks Shayda for this It is comforting to know there is no 'set' of shading and this is up to you. I always felt that a proper artist would shade the bit I have missed. I think also that a little bit of shading helps, as shading can be intimidating and it is more fun to improve step by step I also feel that I may do too much shading which looks wrong. So this was helpful. Also it it was useful to see the size of pen nibs. Right now many of are buying online and we cannot really see the size of nibs inpractice. Learning to shiggle the pen when you are drawing petals was really useful and another secret Shayda tip. I love simple tips to bring a flower to livec. I bought some graphic paper for my birthday so look forward to learning how to use it properly.Off topic I would like to learn how to draw a Morning Glory and Petunia,.

I love these tips! It's funny because I actually do much better pushing the pen away from my vs pulling it toward me. I always thought I was bad at drawing, but I guess I should just keep with that strength!

Hi, thanks for the fun videos! This question isn't specifically covered in this video, but I thought you might have some good insight. As someone who loves pen and paper drawings do you know what would be the best budget scanner to use to preserve the quality of the drawing? For instance, to get the same drawing printed on a number of cards companies need a digital copy of the artwork. There's so many scanners out there and it seems overwhelming, I thought it was possible you might have some experience with this.
