I'm personally a big fan of Lindsey Fairleigh - she's a local PNW author who's got mythology inspired books... the Echo Trilogy is Egyptian based time travel romance that I couldn't put down!
Interesting video, Eloise! I liked hearing your reasons for self-publishing. I wish you all the best on your journey to getting the first book in your series published. 😊
That’s a weird way to spell “cool” - hybrid authorship sounds incredibly interesting and I completely forgot to specify that there is a hybrid option! 🤦🏻♀️
I totally get why you chose self pub. There's no arguing with your logic. I'm so excited for you to get your arc team together. I'm actually genuinely looking forward to seeing the rest of this process unfold. To be honest, as time goes by I get less and less inclined to publish in print at all. It seems like there are a lot of things i would have to put in the hands of other people, like the book cover and all the other aesthetic stuff, and I don't want to do that. At least sticking to audio means I keep most of the control. Plus, audiobooks seem a lot easier to publish. I'll never say never but, for now, I'm happy being audio exclusive.
Thanks for the encouragement, Mason! It means a lot ❤️ I completely understand your reluctance to publish in print. I wouldn’t want to either if I were in your shoes. Audio exclusive isn’t bad at all in my opinion and I can’t wait until I can buy your book and listen to it all the way through.
Great video Eloise! I loooove the breakdown of traditional versus independent publishing and your considerations in choosing the indie route are well-thought-out. I've considered this myself but it's much too far in the future for me to determine lol. I'm looking forward to seeing your series come to life and believe your approach to publishing will resonate with many (especially me!) 🥰
It’s not an easy decision, that’s for sure and as confident as I’ve been, there’s people who have made me question my thought process and doubt whether I’m making the best decision for myself. When you get to that point make sure you listen to your heart and gut and trust it’ll make the right decision for you. ❤️
Salutations! Questions for the week (confession time) In your writing (this far) what is the worst, most aggravating continuity error you discovered and what did you have to do to correct it? (Yes, we've all had to do this)🤪
Hi Steven! I've had a few little ones here and there but the one that was by far the most aggravating involved character heights. Since my book features gods and takes place in ancient times, I had a) to be creative with how I referenced height and b) had individuals that were larger than humans. It annoyed me to the point that I created a terrible sketchy chart in a fit of rage so I could keep things straight. Looking back, I suppose if that's the biggest one I had to deal with I'm not in too bad of shape...
@@authoreloisebahr hmmm, in one of my books, the hero and his love interest would stand on the sand in Newport Beach, California at 6AM to watch the sun come up over the ocean...I had to switch it to morning coffee in the kitchen....ooops .🥴
@@stevencorey7702 Hahaha oops indeed! I had similar instances where I had to remind myself of what was/wasn't around and available for use in 1282 BCE. Like cotton and certain crops. Lots of stopping to google things as I wrote.
@@stevencorey7702 Fabulous idea. I know my characters would love it if they could get some dues ex machina ... unfortunately anytime the gods show up in my series it's usually to cause trouble for them hehehe
