My writing routine has slipped a bit lately.... I'm trying with the idea of possibly writing earlier, especially while schools have broken up for a week and I don't have to worry about getting to work! Great video, glad your new routine is working for you
@@nataliejaneshields a sign from the universe ✨✨✨ if you do, let me know how it goes! It’s been the ultimate game changer for me and I’m honestly kicking myself for not doing this a year ago 🙃
Good for you!! I'm a morning person and I love a morning routine, but since my oldest is now in middle school and up 30 minutes earlier I've gotten off of my usual morning routine. I've still been waking up early but laying in bed reading or on my phone instead of doing the other things. I want to get back on my self care morning routine. I'll make it back there.
@@kristinaebert822 You got this 💪🏻 sometimes we need to take a break from our routine, or life forces us to. As long as we get back on track eventually is all that matters! 🙌🏻
Full Blown Night Owl here so writing takes place between 4pm to 9pm depending how bad the pain and M.E is I can get over 1000 words down sometimes up to 2000 words. I so proud of you for finding a routine that works with your life and goals. Your amazing!
@@staceydawkins6090 You’re an inspiration with how you get so many words despite the gremlins you battle every day. I’m proud of you too, and so appreciate all of the encouragement you’ve given me over the years. 🩷🩷🩷
Wow! I get my writing done around 10pm, but I'm often too beat or just not in the zone to do anything. Weekends are better, because I can usually find time in the afternoons - but that's only two days a week. It's tough! I don't think I could do 5am. I tend to want stay up late. :)
@@authorjmceli That was what I told myself too, but had the same situation of being too tired. I’m so glad weekends are better for you! For me they’re chaos and impossible to focus with a five year old wanting to show me one thing or another. Here’s to writing the words, no matter the time! 🙌🏻
5 AM!?!?! Damn, girl... wait... 3 AM?! Damn, son! Now I feel insane for waking up at noon. lol. Please don't hate me. You go to bed at 830? I do the hour-laying in bed to wake up thing too. It's so relaxing to not have to jump right up and run around. This was fantastically insightful to your routine. I love hearing the process of other amazing authors. Thank you for sharing this!
Yes sir, writing at 5 but up at 3:30. Why would I hate you for the choices I'm making, I could never. If waking up at noon works for you, that's awesome. That hour in bed to wake up and brainstorm really makes the difference with how productive I am once I finally get in front of the computer.
@@authoreloisebahr oh trust me, I wish I could wake up earlier. Having an industry sleep schedule has stuck with me. I remember being on set for 16 hours a few times after having to get up at 3 am just to get to set on time. Now I just wake up when my brain allows me. Fighting back against the system! lol -start Rage Against The Machine-
I promise, on my honor. I've been considering updating my intro, but never the outro. Sometimes afternoon writing is the way to go! Unless you don't want it to be that way 😆
So much easier said than done, but I'm trying. I try to remind myself to talk to myself like I'd talk to my son - would definitely not be as mean to him as I am to me.
A big thing in self care is knowing when to say no or not right now. I'm proud of you for taking a step back and realizing that you can do it all right at this moment.
@@authoreloisebahr lol truth. Adulting is realizing you don't really have to do anything but also that if you don't to anything then you wont be able to eat or live with a roof over your head. 🙃😜😊😁
@@EmmaBennetAuthor I don’t know what else to do! I wear blue light glasses all the time when I’m working and have a little chilled eye mask… I need to start setting a timer for eye breaks, but what else?!
@@authoreloisebahr I think today will be first day without advil, so we're counting it a win! Also first day of rain in a while...coincidence? You be the judge.
This was such a fun discovery to show how your beautiful cover came to be. I can't wait to see what comes next in the series as we see more and more of Otrera.
Wow, her other work is amazing! This is such a great story because when you find THAT artist, it's so huge! I love how thorough your artist was with hall her questions. All the green flags :)
When you paid the cover charge, did they let you into the venue? HEY OH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was a fun video. And a nice behind the scenes look into the process.
Congrats on your first author event!!! We are always our worst critics. Your display looked awesome and it stood out perfectly for people walking by. Good luck at your next event.
@@LauraGomez-bl2so Oh you know I haven’t thought to incorporate live musical performances but I’m going to seriously consider it now that you’ve brought it up. Solid suggestion 👏🏻
For these type of group signing events where I don't know all the authors of the books, it will be the book covers that draw me in. Deciding if they fit the genres that I like to read. And for this one being able to follow via IG. I did get pulled in by one of the male authors (which I rarely ever read) attending and I felt like I should stand and chat which him and take a bookmark and make a comment that I'd share with my dad even though I had no interest in really doing either. That was awkward for me. But yes friendly open to receive people are so much easier to approach.
Wow, that was some heavy rain. You have a book house for your books that want to be in a house made for books. Great job, Eloise! Thanks for sharing your adventure with us and the tips you added at the end. And awesome for speaking up for yourself too! Always have a helper! That's a great tip and having your elevator pitch (log-line) prepared.
@@thewritemindset Thanks Thomas! No better way to practice talking about your book than forcing yourself into a situation where you have to talk about your book 🤣
That's so great! It's so wonderful to get out into the world and share your book with people. I love your positive attitude that people aren't going to be as critical of you as you are of yourself, so it's better to just not worry because nobody else is going to. I love that! and I LOVE your display! That Temple Looking bookcase rocks!! what a great idea. 9 books is awesome. For a local event, that kicks butt! Thanks for plugging my vid :)
Thanks!! It's something I have to remind myself a lot with my writing - don't seem to have a problem with it with anything else in my life haha. Also omg yes of course - I totally spaced on adding the link so I've fixed that now! And of course after I filmed I realized I mispronounced your last name, I'm sorry 😭
This is me with my Irish historical fantasy but I was SO BEHIND in that trend that I was surprised it wasn’t a thing anymore. Irish stuff was over by the early 2000s, oops 😂
