My Toyota 22RE Was Getting Hot! Easy Fix! 

Did this job yesterday and broke a bolt off. 5 minute job turned into 5 hours. I used anti seize whenever reinstalling anything thing on this truck. Thanks for the gasket tip!

Great job done with a mega sense of humour.👍🏻 Just a tip, and only for a minute😜 from a Professional Destroy It Yourselfer who fingers old Land Rovers.😆 Boil test new thermostats too, especially unmarked. Yours maybe opening too soon. And put some Nickelslip antiseize or TEF gel on the bolts going into ali castings to stop the galvanic corrosion. (No, you can't baggy and sell the white powder to fund your vehicle habit☹) Not sure if the pink glove were, but nitrile gloves especially Grippaz/Gripster types are decent for mechanicing.

Drain the coolant at the bottom of the radiator first. Aftermarket thermostats have the temperature rating stamped on the bottom of the brass part. When refilling the system, you'll need to burp the air out.

I would recommend buying a toyota thermostat for peice of mind. I have an aftermarket in now and its lasts 3 years now issues. HOWEVER. It worries me. I have a toyota one in my glovebox and iv just been waiting to install it. I also have green coolant. Such a heated debate between the green and red. I just am gonna keep mine green for now and make sure its changed. I have a 93 2wd toyota pickup extended cab with 100xxx miles. Bought with 88x. Good to know theres cute women out in the world that likes working on toyotas to!!! If your ever in idaho lets go on a toyota cruise hahaha

Use a digital meat thermometer in the radiator.

You spilled coolant everywhere,and you looked at the wrong end of the thermostat. The other end opens.where the temperature was printed.you didn't clean matting surfaces on thermostat housing before adding rtv or new gasket.you should at least check the hose clamps and top off reservoir with coolant before driving let come to normal running temperature then carefully check radiator level.
