Special thanks to the Mackay Land Rover Club for inviting me to be their guest speaker at their March 2021 Awards Dinner. My rambling was well received, and was a collection of my travel stories, travel philosophy and my early inspiration to hit the road and explore. A Q&A followed. If you live in the Mackay region, the club is open to all makes and models of 4x4, not just Land Rover. Visit their site here: mackaylandroverclub.com/
Thanks Brett. This made my day. I am a younster in my twenties and all I want to do is travel and tour, camping out of my defender. I am still single aswell, but believe I'll find someone with time. Definitely not going to wait around for them before I start to explore. Thanks. You are a massive inspiration to me.
Loved your comments re Australia shrinking. This country has truly lost the unknown. I did the Simpson in 2000 in what was a totally remote experience and didn't see one car during the trip. Then we did it a couple of years ago and the desert was like highway with so many people.. it was terrible.
Hi Brett. We are happy to see that you are planning your up coming trip. Wow 😲 the world has changed, and we sit and talk about you on how you’re going to travel crossing boarders. You are a very brave man and you certainly keep us entertained with your travels out there in the bush. You were right not to wait until later to do your travels. God’s got your back mate 🙏🙏🙏
What a inspiring and informative talk you did. Such a good philosophy of life to live by. You're right. We only get one shot at this. Looking forward to your 2022 travels. Can't wait !
35:12 Good on you for speaking up and stating you take the easier track rather than being that try hard hero who chews up tracks and thinks it’s a badge of honour on returning to town with the dirtiest 4wd.
Thanks for sharing Brett. I was just thinking the other as what you were up to. Like you I could quite happily spend a long time exploring WA and in no rush to try and fit everything in over a month or so... I've said to Shane the Sharkcaver (a WA 4WDer RU-vidr I follow and also chat tp on Facebook) that I reckon I could quite easily spend over a year in WA and would have just scratched the surface. There's a few nice spots I could quite happily pull up camp and stay for a few weeks... like Durba Springs along the Canning Stock Route.
Indeed. That's one reason why I've been holding off on touring WA.. once I cross that border, I probably won't be back on the East coast for over a year.
I was just watching some of your older videos wondering what you were up to. I admire your choice to follow your heart and dreams. Best of luck in the future.
I understand the philosophy of not waiting until retirement before traveling however quite a few people have the good fortune to have careers involving travel and for them it makes good sense to pursue their careers first and then do personal travel later. This will also put them in the best financial position too for their personal travels.
Hi Brett ! Great talk , you remind me of myself and it’s good to see . I lost my mum and dad just as they retired unfortunately, this has been enough for me to live my “ some days” now. Life is to short to wait. Last year your videos inspired me to visit welford and a few others. Planning on doing my second lap this winter . All the best mate cheers
Great videos Brett Your videos actually inspired me to see the outback as I've never thought about before either on your RU-vid channel and when it's screening on C31
G’day Brett. Just a quick word to say I’m Missing your vids and hope you are doing ok. Till I see you on the tube again stay safe and happy days to you buddy. Kind regards, Mario.
Thanks for sharing Brett,I know you’ve had some trouble with your Engel fridge,my first one lasted from 1977 til 1993,and my second one has lasted from then and still going strong.I reckon I would buy another 🙂
