A La Roche Posay Anthelios dupe is the Garnier Ambre Solaire Anti Dark Spots & Anti Pollution Super UV SPF50+ (with HA). It is less than 1/2 the price and the exact same fluid texture! I also love the Garnier Ambre Solaire Anti-Age Super UV (with HA and Niacinamide) it is a beautiful lightweight gel/cream which melts into the skin and it is so inexpensive and sits beautifully on my oily skin! I think these are only available in Europe as I'm sure Susan would have mentioned these since they're so iconic!!!

I just wanted to drop a note that it’s recommended that people with darker complexions use a SPF 30. I did this for years and didn’t see much improvement in my uneven skin tone and hyperpigmentation. A few months ago I started using the Neutrogena Sheer Zinc SPF 50 and I saw immediate improvements! I wanted to share in case anyone with a darker skin tone had the same problem as me.
@Skincareslug

It's reccomend for everyone to use a spf 30 or higher.
@Oscarnodwannabe
@Oscarnodwannabe 3 года назад
@@Skincareslug Yeah, but for different reasons. For people of color they will say that SPF 30 is sufficient because our melanin protects us more from the sun and that a higher SPF isn't necessary. I found a SPF 50 to be necessary. My hyperpigmentation is finally disappearing now that I went up in SPF. I also live in the southern United States so that should be a factor.

I hated that Cetaphil one. It left a white cast on me (and I'm light skinned)and it wore horribly under makeup. I used to think that I couldn't wear chemical sunscreen because I had a bad reaction with a Supergoop one, and wasted so much money trying to find a mineral one that worked for me. Ultimately I tried another chemical (Banana Boat Light as Air) and I've never looked back. There are a few mineral ones that work like Australian Gold, Supergoop Matte Screen, and Cotz Prime and Protect. But I'm sticking to chemical mostly. Cause buying a mineral sunscreen that doesn't work is expensive.

Bondi sands has a bigger version of the face sunscreen, for body use, Ingridients look the same, anyone knows if it's the same feel and formula?
@yunxiao7615
@yunxiao7615 3 года назад
The body version has half the amount of avobenzone, which I assume is to give less protection on UVA so you "get a beautiful tan". However, if you wear sunscreen to prevent skin aging, this one is not for you.

These drugstore brands are getting crazy with their prices …like there’s no reason that Garnier and Nuetrogena should be charging $18 for their products. You can get much better higher end brands/products for almost the same price. Maybe a few dollars more.
@nikkiwilliams3491
@nikkiwilliams3491 3 года назад
Why suggest "more accessible" sunscreens at the outset and then suggest one not available in the US? I appreciate suggesting more inexpensive ones as sunscreen is so important for daily use and protection. I would note that while European sunscreens may have "newer filters" and a better approval process compared to our slow moving FDA, US sunscreens are better tested and the SPF number is actually tested to be higher than the label claim. So I would not call European sunscreens more effective, but rather more cosmetically pleasing. Also, transparency of ingredients is another issue I have with Australian sunscreens for example vs US. FDA requires all sunscreen ingredients to be listed with a monograph, whereas in Australia the inactives are hidden on the label and the filter actives are not shown in a monograph, making it harder to decipher.
@SusanSlattery
@SusanSlattery 3 года назад
It's "MODERN FILTERS" not "newer" and frankly the EU has stricter standards. Most U.S. sunscreens don't offer enough UVA protection to be approved in the EU. I guess the EU cares more about its population than our FDA does. You think the FDA cares about you? Read about the Alzheimer's drug they just approved that is totally ineffective. The FDA needs to knock sunscreens off the drug list and onto the cosmetics list. And if they did, we'd catch up with the rest of the world on sunscreen. I used to say they were 30 years ahead of the U.S. but now they are 40 years ahead of us.
@nikkiwilliams3491
@nikkiwilliams3491 3 года назад
@@SusanSlattery EU Newer vs US older. Whatever semantics. There are new filters in EU sunscreens as formulators call them. I agree we need better sunscreen technology in the US. I would rather have the inactive ingredients be listed and not have them hidden from view. It is still government control in EU and AUS even though they may be stricter on safety. Making sunscreen a cosmetic will not improve sunscreens in the US as cosmetics are not regulated in the US like they are in the EU. Sunscreens should continue to be regulated for safety in the US as they are drugs, while also incorporating better UVA/UVB sunscreen filters. Too many cosmetics companies have free reign to cut corners and don't have consumers' best interest at heart. Cosmetics need to be regulated in the US because too many have been found to contain toxic chemicals. Sad third party testing has to be done to keep companies honest and the public has to advocate to force FDA and companies to make changes.
