I agree!! I honesty wish people would do that more. I'm light skined but sunscreen white cast shows up on me like crazy. I like to base my decision on what it looks like on a darker person but don't see it being demonstrated enough.

@@ASHLEY.397, thank you! I find it interesting that most of these aren't European (which is good for me). Even the La Roche Posay ones aren't really sold in the UK, i.e. LRP is widely sold in the UK but not the products for which benzene was detected.

I find it's often the ones that has avobenzone and oxybenzone that bother me most! Japanese chemical sunscreens without avobenzone are usually easier on the eyes for me 😅

NOTE: I see the comments about sunscreens with benzene in them. Please everyone, calm down. First, be sure to check the list of sunscreens that MIGHT have benzene in them. Then see if their lot or batch number matches the list too. Not every product was affected. I encourage you to find some reputable chemists and dermatologists for more information. From what I gathered, it’s not a huge deal. If your sunscreen is on the list, toss it out of an abundance of caution. Who else has come to the conclusion that chemical sunscreens are where it’s at? I have some mineral favorites (and a lot of hybrid favorites like the EltaMD Tinted UV Clear), but I find myself reaching for my chemical sunscreens a lot more.

I tried SO HARD to find a mineral sunscreen while I was pregnant! I'm a very pale olive - tints were all wrong, and the white cast, well, nothing cute about that. I am so glad I finally switched to chemical. They are so much more elegant and easy to wear. The only sticking point has been sensitive eyes, so thank you for the setting tip.

Mineral sunscreens never match my skin just right, but I was fortunate enough with the Mychelle dermaceuticals one and i love it, but because it makes me so matte I am layering a chemical sunscreen underneath

I wish you would take the study and comments about benzene more seriously. Any chance that a product MIGHT have benzene in it is to risky of a chance. Caution should absolutely be taken, even if something MIGHT have benzene in it. You owe it to your followers to be more responsible than this. Please be safe everyone!

Thank you for demonstrating the sunscreens using the proper amount ie. 1/4 teaspoon or a LARGE dot for the face. I hate it when creators claim a sunscreen is nice to wear or doesn’t have a cast when they only apply two or three thin fingers amount

Hi! Just a note that the Solimo sunscreen was on the list of benzene-contaminated products put out by Valisure. It might have just been that particular batch of Solimo sunscreen that was contaminated, but for now I would hold off on purchasing that product.

This video came out RIGHT before the whole Benzene list came out. Which means she filmed this even earlier. She DOES say to throw away sunscreen that is on the list to be safe. I think she's just trying to encourage people to be calm and not panic if they've been using these sunscreens already. Just throw it out and play it safe from now on! If you're really concerned about it, especially if you've been using these sunscreens, talk to a dermatologist who can give personalized information based on your situation! Everyone be safe!!

Just an FYI - the Valisure recent study of benzene in sunscreen shows many of the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunscreen sprays as having benzene above acceptable levels. Of course this may only be a batch contamination issue, but may want to check the benzene list and batch numbers for your product just in case. Many of Neutrogena sunscreens were on the list of those to avoid and dispose of immediately. Hopefully these Susan recommends are on the safe list.

Both the neutrogena face mists are on the Valisure SAFE list where benzene was NOT detected, a lot of comments said they were but I think they’re confusing the neutrogena body sprays with the face mists, a lot of their body sprays were found to have benzene; the solimo spf however was on their benzene containing list 😕

Hi Susan! Like you I suffer with melasma and the first summer I experienced it I was only using chemical sunscreen because I am Indigenous and my skin tone gets too dark for a lot of mineral sunscreens. And although I never burned with chemical sunscreen my melasma was still raging and when I went to my derm he said that chemical sunscreens are great for a lot of people, but with melasma you NEED to use mineral and if you can find a tinted mineral sunscreen it’s even better. Once I changed to mineral, which has been a journey to find ones that don’t look ashy on me (I love coloursciece and eltamd) I finally started to be able to control my melasma. You put so much effort in fighting your melasma but then I see you using chemical sunscreens and I wanted to share my experience so hopefully it will help you or someone else struggling with it!

Hi thank you for this video! When ulta had their big spring sale I bought the tula dewy face sunscreen spf 30 the 1.7 oz for half off and I love it! Unfortunately I can’t afford it and it didn’t last long. I watched your video and you were very thorough About each one and to me the Bindi Sands one because on your face it looked as glowy as the tula one. And I can afford $10 for way more product 2.5 oz and spf of 50 I’d say that was a steal!

I love the Aveeno sunscreen! There are two versions of the Aveeno green bottle sunscreen. I believe the ultra sheer (?) has the glittery bits and the regular one does not or at least not as much. I have rosacea and sensitive skin and I really do not experience problems w/ these. When I started getting into skincare, I thought I had to ditch the Aveeno cuz it had fragrance 😱 but I go back to it because my skin had less problems than it does w/ others that do not contain fragrance!

If you read on the back of the Neutrogena spray sunscreen it says not to spray on your face. Directions say, spray into your hand and rub on and into your face. So not good for reapplying sunscreen over makeup. I got this for the exact purpose of reapplying sunscreen over makeup, and then read the back and directions. Also, super oily so it would make my makeup melt away.

The Bondi Sands sunscreen body is 13$ for 5 oz and 10$ for 2 oz for the face. I have tried both and they are basically the same formula so save your money and buy the body one. (there is no white cast from the Bondi Sands body sunscreen)

A touchy matter we should still care about for the future. I am getting my masters in Environmental Policy with strong concentration on our marine systems. Coral reefs are already under a huge amount of stress, so why wait to know if it is 100 percent damaging, when there have been articles (peer-reviewed) suggesting that these chemicals could be damaging not only to coral reefs but other marine life? Hawaii had already banned these types of chemicals and other areas are thinking of doing the same. I could go on and don't mind discussing with scientific articles and links.

those neutrogena sprays actually aren’t supposed to be sprayed directly to your face like that. i got them with the idea i could use it for easy application, but as soon as i sprayed it immediately hurt lol. the back says to spray 6inches from skin into your hand. just something to keep in mind

Which I do, but becomes very difficult due to it being so thick. Will chemical sunscreens make melasma darker due to sun burning through chemical sunscreens??
